NOW Fights Right-Wing Assault on Abortion Rights, Urges Supporters to March on April 25th
March 26, 2004
"Under the guise of maternal and fetal protection, reproductive freedoms are once again under attack," said NOW President Kim Gandy, responding to yesterday's 61-38 Senate vote in favor of the Unborn Victims of Violence Act (UVVA). "This legislation is another underhanded attempt to roll back women's rights. Giving a fetus at any stage of development the same legal rights as the pregnant woman will undermine the right to abortion as guaranteed under Roe v. Wade."
Attempting to protect current abortion laws, Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) proposed an amendment to the UVVA bill that would double the penalties for the crime, while defining the attack on a pregnant woman as a single-victim crime; the amendment failed in a close 49-50 vote.
"If members of Congress want to address the pervasive problem of violence against pregnant women, they need to pass increased funding for education and for enforcement," said Gandy. "Any injury inflicted on a woman, pregnant or not, should be prosecuted as a crime against the woman. We applaud Senator Feinstein and the concurring Senators who joined her in protecting Roe."
The sponsors of this cynical bill have devised a strategy to redefine the Fourteenth Amendment, which guarantees equal protection of the law to "persons," which has never been defined to include fetuses. The inventive language of this bill covers "a member of the species homo sapiens at any stage of development." Such a definition of "person" could entitle fertilized eggs, embryos and fetuses to legal rights -ultimately, setting the stage to legally reverse Roe.
"This is a deceptive ploy that allows abortion foes to whittle away at women's reproductive rights," Gandy said.
"The approach taken in this bill is deeply misguided and does nothing to enhance protections for pregnant woman, who are at increased risk of domestic violence," said Gandy. "At the same time, abortion rights are under attack and it is time for us to fight back. I urge every person in this country who cares about women's reproductive rights and health, and decries these attacks, to march with NOW on April 25."

It just amazes me to what lengths these 'women' will go to protect their 'right' to murder babies.

The "Nazi Organization of Womyn" is planning a dogmatic left-wing assault. Haven't those witches have supported too many killings of unborn humans?

Given planned parenthood's links to eugenics and the Nazis. That is actually quite true.

Save the trees, save a whale, save a fish, save an owl, save the vines, save the dirt, save the planet, murder 40,000,000,000 unborn babies. What a group. Who needs enemies when you have individuals such as this to choose your friends from!

All of these protestors mothers chose life.

Somebody ought to tell these women that in this day and age abortion is not necessary for a variety of reasons. In no particular order unwed motherhood does have the same stigma as it did 15 to 20 years ago; birth control is readily available. A single woman can make a gyn appointment for a variety of birth control items without a second thought (it wasn't done when I was in my 20s); You can go into any supermarket, discount store or drug store to purchase condoms, sponges, or spermicial foams. Again, why is abortion barring health problems even necessary?

I was all upset yesterday when I looked into the wrens' birdhouse and noticed that three of the eggs were gone. The parents don't seem to come back to take care of the one remaining egg. I wonder if it will hatch. Then it will just die anyway. In the midst of all this thinking about my wrens who will now not be hatching and learning to fly in my backyard, I thought to myself
"If I am this upset over a few wrens, how much MORE must God be upset when we kill our own unborn children!?

" right to abortion as guaranteed under Roe v. Wade."
?????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Rights are not guaranteed by Supreme Court decisions.
Rights are granted by God, enumerated by our Constitution
and upheld by the balance of power inherent in the
seperate but equal branches of our Government.
A genetically distint living human being must by the grace
of God possess the same rights as any other individual.
Jeremiah 1:5
Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
Psalm 139:13
For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb.
14 :I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.
15 :My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
16 :Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.
Galatians 1:15
But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace,
Isaiah 49:1 :
Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name.
Matthew 18:5
And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me.
Deuteronomy 30:19
"I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and
death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live."
Proverbs 6:16 There are six things which the LORD hates, Yes, seven which are an abomination to Him:17 Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, And hands that shed innocent blood
Exodus 20:13
Thou shalt not kill.

"why is abortion, baring health problems, even necessary?"
It's necessary for: avoiding walking like a duck for nine months, wearing baggy clothes, hiding stretch marks forever, squelching a puking, muewling kid that cost $100,000 plus to raise to age 18 and who runs up pediatrician bills, urinates and defecates in their clothing every day for two years, defaces furniture, walls, floors and later wrecks cars, needs bailing out of jail for youthful indescretions, plays rock and rap music at obscene decibel levels, fights tooth and nail with siblings, and otherwise puts a cramp in ones lifestyle.
What's needed here is to call it what it is: not "reproductive rights," but murder of ones very own flesh and blood by murderers who think "it's" all about them. I raised four so I know of what I speak. Strangely enough, I would'nt take anything for all those wonderful years.

how did Kerry vote? Do you really need to ask?
He voted for the "one victim" amendment and against the UVVA.
