'Passion of Christ' Moves Man To Confess Killing 'Suicide' Victim

RICHMOND -- Detectives say the death of a 19-year-old woman originally ruled a suicide has turned into a murder case after a repentant man who'd watched The Passion of the Christ confessed to killing her because she was carrying his child.

Fort Bend County Sheriff's Detective Mike Kubricht said today that investigators thought Ashley Nicole Wilson had hanged herself in January. Earlier this month, however, 21-year-old Dan R. Leach of Rosenberg turned himself in after watching Mel Gibson's controversial movie about the last hours of Christ's life and Leach decided to seek redemption, Kubricht said.

The young woman's body was found by her mother Jan. 19 in her Richmond-area apartment. The Harris County Medical Examiner ruled her death a suicide caused by asphyxia due to external compression with a ligature.

Then, on March 7, Leach, who had known the victim for many years, walked into the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Department headquarters and confessed to killing her.

Kubricht said Leach told investigators he carefully planned the killing to make it look like a suicide. The suspect allegedly strangled Wilson because he did not want to raise her unborn child or be involved with her anymore, Kubricht said.

A grand jury indicted Leach Monday and he was arrested the next day. He is being held on $100,000 bond

Sad. Two victims.

You should hear all the DUers crying that Congress, by making it a double crime to kill a pregnant woman, is taking away their rights.

Question for liberals: If a woman is on her way to the abortion clinic and a guy stops her in the street and kicks her in the stomach, what do we charge him with? Practicing medicine without a license?

Another question for liberals: Will homosexuals become pro-life if genomic science discovers a "gay" gene that can be identified pre-birth? Will pre-disposed gay fetuses be aborted in massive numbers? What then for the pro-abortion lobby?

Amazing. He'll do time ... which is far better than 'doing' eternity.

I think if you confess to God and ask for forgiveness, that's all that's required for salvation. God doesn't care whether a government finds you guilty.

Acts 26:20
First to those in Damascus, then to those in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and to the Gentiles also, I preached that they should repent and turn to God and prove their repentance by their deeds.

I think this fellow has proven his repentance by his deeds.

I will pray for this young man tonight. He did something very wrong, and has taken the first steps to repentance for it. If his repentance is true, I pray that Jesus will have mercy on him.

This is one of those "lock 'em up but don't throw away the key" cases. He's 21 now. Say he serves 25 years, shows exemplary behavior in prison during that time, and helps other inmates get on the right path. I could see a parole at that point.

Awesome data point in favor of The Passion

No.

Give the perp a fair trial and a fast hanging.

Let's think about fundamental rational behavior here.

If we hang all people who turn themselves in, what incentive do we give for people to turn themselves in?

Only if he's straight, white, male, over 40 and American-born. To judge an oppressed, third-world, person of color based on different cultural values would be intolerant, mean-spirited, and a hate crime of one sort or another, I'm sure.

If we prosecute pedophiles, what incentive do we give for people to turn themselves in ?

Give the perps a fair trial and a fast hanging. They should receive a sentence commensurate with the crime they committed. This perp turned himself in because he did not want an eternal sentence.
