**Richard Clarke Takes Position as ABC News Consultant**
ABC News | March 25, 2004

Posted on 03/25/2004 8:47:38 PM PST by Howlin

I don't do this very often, so forgive me.

I was watching the ABC program tonight on Donald Rumsfeld at 8 P.M. EST.

Right in the middle of the show, here appears Richard Clarke, and down in the corner is the little ABC logo with the words ABC (SOMETHING) CONSULTANT. (Not sure what TYPE of consultant, but definitely CONSULTANT.

Phil for your info:

"There are lots of angles on this matter. Anyone ever heard of a Mrs. Clarke? There may be one, but I've never heard of Clarke being married. Which could lead to all kinds of possibilities, including blackmail. When someone changes their story so drastically, you have to wonder why.

I believe the CIA has restrictions on homosexuals in Security jobs for that very reason."

My thinking exactly. I hope you noticed earlier that Clarke is now speaking on a campus in MY city! Also granting local radio interviews.

I think he will be touring the campuses and poisoning local news wherever he goes.

He will make more money with his fees to speak than he will from his book. Of course he can sell a lot of books at below cost at each speaking event to raise the number of books sold.

Well, who is paying for his fees? Is he stiffing universities, or is a friendly benefactor, like George Soros, bankrolling him?

I fear they are being abetted by enemies domestic who care not a whit for our Republic and all that it stands for...and I fear that wittingly or unwittingly those domestic enemies are being helped in their aims by others on both sides of the aisle. It is a dangerous situation.

Clarke will be overexposed and so very irrelevant to all except the Democraps by October (or yesterday, by my calendar).

If and when he goes out, the tuition $'s pay for these campus speakers unless the cost is shared with a corporation or local organization.

You can bet that $orea$$ and the Tides Foundation will be funding these events if and when he goes out on the speaker trail.

"Clarke will be overexposed and so very irrelevant to all except the Democraps by October (or yesterday, by my calendar)."

Unfortunately, when this happens, people like Clarke become the heroes of the Colleges and end up with long lists of paid talks to the liberal professors and students.

If you live near a college or university that brings in the paid outside speakers, get a list of who came last year and is scheduled this year. Most are forgotten has beens way past their 15 minutes of fame.

A phone call to our local universities' press relations offices with a question about their plans for an appearance by Richard Clarke would be interesting. Most forums are open to the public, as they are always doing 'outreach' aka fundraising.

I intend to phone Hopkins, Goucher and the University of MD (several campi).

The Perverts-in-Chief probably watered down that restriction, Hillry could not become president if that rule still holds.

Banfield gets NBC's bad news (Ashleigh's been fired)
New York Daily News ^ | 3.26.04 | Lloyd Grove

Posted on 03/26/2004 8:25:18 AM PST by mhking

Onetime cable television star Ashleigh Banfield - a publicity magnet even before she achieved celebrity in the aftermath of 9/11 - is out at NBC News.

The 36-year-old former rock singer - once a fashion icon for her blond tresses and her ever-present on-air glasses, but whose career took a slide after she dyed her hair dark brown - joined the network's MSNBC outlet four years ago, and has been working without a contract since late January.

"Regrettably, we were unable to agree on a new assignment for her," an NBC News spokeswoman told me yesterday. "We thank her for her hard work and wish her well."

The native Canadian was a controversial figure at NBC, where detractors spread rumors of diva-like behavior and sniped at her supposed journalistic deficiencies.

Banfield didn't try to butter up colleagues and supervisors, and instead cast herself as an enemy of the Establishment. She once showed up for anchor duties at MSNBC's Secaucus studios in New Jersey sporting a T-shirt that shouted, in garish glitter: "Starf--r."

But on camera, the message was discreetly concealed by a conservative jacket.

On Sept. 11, 2001, her dramatic reports from Ground Zero won her star status and her own nightly live show from Afghanistan and Pakistan, "A Region in Conflict" (for which she wore a burka and dyed her hair) and, later, "Ashleigh Banfield: On Location."

But in due course, her star dimmed.

Banfield's manager, Alfred Geller, told me: "Since her contract expired, we have been exploring with a variety of NBC components the possibility of future activity that would include cable and network. At the end of these explorations, we were mutually unable to come to an accommodation that was okay with everybody. It didn't work. Life marches on."

Geller said Banfield, who didn't return my calls, is looking at syndication, as well as other network and cable television possibilities. "She will be just fine, thank you very much."

Freepers fail to understand that the compromises that Bush has made, are necessary to maintain a majority. The fact is, it is OUR fault, not Bush's fault for the things he has had to do. It is our fault, because we keep returning the same compromised, blackmailed, exposed and vulnerable members to the Senate. Orrin Hatch, John McCain, Arlen Specter and others are not on your side, and haven't been since their early days in Congress. These are compromised men, who sold their souls in exchange for power long ago, but Republicans keep returning these people to the Senate year after year after year.

What Bush has done, is make deals with these folks in order to keep the majority. What else could he do? Without the majority, the President gets no agenda. Bush is someone who came to Washington to get things done, not just bask in the glory of the office like Clinton did. To get things done, you have to deal with the devil, which is NOT the Democrats, but our own blackmailed Senators.

You will never know how important it is for Republicans to defeat Arlen Specter this year. There should be outrage from our side that he would solicit Democrat support in the primaries, but outside of this website where is it? There are not 20 Republican Senators who would not sell you out to keep their job, or to hide some scandal. Especially Orrin Hatch(friend of Kennedy) Chuck Hagel is a guy who believes he is smarter than anyone else in Washington. Who can blame him, when he keeps getting elected by the very people he screws every time?

If you don't like what you see in Washington, don't blame Bush. You should be on your knees thanking God for Bush, because it would be a lot worse were we to lose the majority, allowing McCain and others to go ahead and vote with their own team on the left.

Look, I'll just say it, because it probably is not going to be used against Clarke anyway.

Clarke is gay, and gays don't get prime security jobs in Washington. They cant pass the necessary clearances, and are always open to blackmail. Bush's team rolled the dice with Clarke and lost.

Anyone remember David Brock?
