**Richard Clarke Takes Position as ABC News Consultant**
ABC News | March 25, 2004

Posted on 03/25/2004 8:47:38 PM PST by Howlin

I don't do this very often, so forgive me.

I was watching the ABC program tonight on Donald Rumsfeld at 8 P.M. EST.

Right in the middle of the show, here appears Richard Clarke, and down in the corner is the little ABC logo with the words ABC (SOMETHING) CONSULTANT. (Not sure what TYPE of consultant, but definitely CONSULTANT.

Anyway, the link up above is one way in which Clarke knows Metzl- I was wondering since Metzl was from Missouri and Clarke resides in Virginia and donated to the guy.

Testimony of Jamie Metzl Before the House Select Committee on Homeland Security

STATEMENT OF JAMIE F. METZL
SENIOR FELLOW AND COORDINATOR FOR HOMELAND SECURITY PROGRAMS, COUNCIL ON FOREIGN RELATIONS
PROJECT DIRECTOR, COUNCIL ON FOREIGN RELATIONS INDEPENDENT TASK FORCE ON EMERGENCY RESPONDERS

BEFORE THE HOUSE SELECT COMMITTEE ON HOMELAND SECURITY

July 17, 2003

Mr. Chairman and Members of the Committee,

Thank you for inviting me to testify before you today. It is an honor for me to be here.

I serve as Project Director of the Council on Foreign Relations Independent task Force on Emergency Responders, where I work with our Chairman, Senator Warren Rudman and Senior Advisor Richard Clarke. The non-partisan task force has brought together leading Americans from diverse political and professional backgrounds to examine whether or not America is sufficiently prepared for another terrorist attack. Our members include former Secretary of State George Shultz, former CIA and FBI Director William Webster, the former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the former Chief of Staff of the Army, three Nobel laureates, and other senior experts of a similar stature.

We weren't like this about Clinton because all the TV stations hired former members of the first President Bush's cabinet to critique every aspect of the Clinton administration.

No sarcasm tag needed!

Minnesota AFL-CIO announces four Congressional endorsements

The 400,000-member Minnesota AFL-CIO today announced its endorsement of four candidates for U.S. Congress. Rochester resident Steve Andreasen, who served as a national security advisor during the Clinton Administration, was endorsed for the First Congressional District. Andreasen will face incumbent Gil Gutknecht.

We get WABC radio news all day and it was announced days ago that Clarke was an ABC consultant. Guess people are just picking up on this.

ABC + Clarke the narc. Maybe him and li'l Stephie can have an ice skating special from Rockefeller center every winter or something equally edifying, since their insight and balance add up to squat. They would need to be accompanied by their Disney counterparts, Dopey and Grumpy.

The main theme though in his choice of donors and his actions, I believe, comes down to nothing more than Iraq.

(Andreasen opposed going after Iraq - he claims- because he sees Iraq as being a wholly separate issue from terrorism, as apparently Clarke does as well. This viewpoint is really an excuse for simply wanting to continue the status quo in Iraq with the regime allowed to linger indefinnitely. )

And IMHO, whenever individuals fiercely oppose ACTION against Iraq, it probably has to do with one or both of two things: their belief that international opinion should run our foreign policy; and someone was profiting off of the UN's Iraqi Oil for Food program.

Well, well, well. Mr. Clarke happens to be in Indianapolis today, where he granted a radio interview. I only heard the first part as I was drivin, but it sounded like the same old line. I have no doubt that the radio reporter will not have enough information to give a good interview.

Clarke is speaking on cyberterrorism at Indiana University Purdue University at Indianapolis, this afternoon.

I will bet he has speaking engagements at colleges all over the country. We need to find out where he is appearing and make sure someone asks him some tough questions.

Was it before or after he was on ABC to "talk" about his book?

GUSTAVUS ADOLPHUS COLLEGE
RESOLUTION OF THE STUDENT SENATE URGING THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT TO EXERCISE AND EXHAUST ALL PEACEFUL, DIPLOMATIC MEANS BEFORE ENGAGING IN WAR WITH THE COUNTRY OF IRAQ

March 10, 2003

Saint Peter, Minnesota

Whereas, a war against Iraq could have a direct effect on the lives of Gustavus Adolphus students, in terms of the potential loss of life and disability among our members of the armed forces, as well as an economic impact as hundreds of billions of our tax dollars are diverted to the financial costs of war, and
Whereas, the first Gulf War resulted in the deaths of an estimated 100,000 Iraqi civilians, and a second war would likewise result in immeasurable death and human suffering, and
Whereas, a war against Iraq will create a mistrust of Arab citizens, resulting in racial profiling and restrictions on general civil liberties, and Whereas, a preemptive assault upon Iraq would not further the "War on Terrorism,? but rather would undermine the basis for stable international relations, possibly trigger retaliatory terrorist attacks against the United States, contribute to regional and global insecurity and anti-American sentiment, and
Whereas, President Bush has failed to make a convincing and indisputable case in support of a preemptive war against Iraq, and
Whereas, Article 51 of the United Nations Charter states, "Preemptive defense is not a justification for war under international law unless there is conclusive evidence that an attack by that country is so eminent that it cannot be avoided in any other way," and
Whereas, the former CIA head of counter-intelligence, Vincent Cannistraro, has stated publicly that the White House deliberately exaggerated the Iraqi threat, and Whereas, former United Nations Chief Weapons Inspector Scott Ritter, U.S. Senator Mark Dayton, former National Security Advisor Steve Andreasen, and many other experts have disputed the contention that Iraq poses an imminent threat to the United States, and
Whereas, Iraq has agreed to reinstate a weapon inspection program and such an investigation will determine whether Iraq poses an imminent danger to international security, and Whereas, diplomatic solutions have not been exhausted, and Whereas, the international community supports peaceful resolutions,
Therefore, be it resolved that Gustavus Adolphus College Student Senate joins with Hamline University, Macalester College, the Associated Students of the University of California, the University of Texas Student Government, the University of Michigan Student Government, the United University Professions of SUNY, as well as other such institutions nationwide in opposing a war with the country of Iraq, and particularly to take all available measures to cooperate with the United Nations in using just, fair and peaceful diplomatic solutions in regard to Iraq, and Resolved, that the Gustavus Adolphus College Student Senate opposes unilateral preemptive war against Iraq.
Co-sponsors: Caleb Lauritsen, Senior Class Representative; Andrea Opland, International Center Representative Gustavus Adolphus College Student Senate will send copies of this resolution to all members of the Congressional delegation of Minnesota, to the White House and to the leadership of the United States Senate and House of Representatives, to the American Federation of Teachers, and to the press.

Wonder if he has plans to be in Kansas City on Saturday, JFKerry is supposedly going to be campaigning here?

Wonder if JFKerry will have a meet and greet with his old buddy of his infamous anti-war protest days, Randy Barnes?

Clarke most likely as ABC consultant, will spend the rest of this "semester" on college campuses stirring up that old "vietnam" days of unrest. "Bush has done nothing to stop terrorist, tooooo obsessed with Iraq".

Now with this seed bed being planted, what is the expected reaction "IF" another terrorists strikes America?

From what I understand, Clarke TEACHES a class at one university out east- alongside another liberal. It is likely one of those classes which is supposed to have two diametrically opposed instructors in order to be 'diverse' but when it comes right down to it, the alleged conservative in the duo usually turns out to be just another liberal minus the 'nutritional labeling.' They play good cop bad cop against the students, one professor poorly defending the conservative perspective in order to make the liberal professor's points seem valid.

I've never seen anything like this assault in my life. Heck, we weren't this way about Clinton.

If we owned the media assets they do, we would have been.

The correct distinction is that Bush isn't Clinton.

The coordinated attempt to instruct Americans how to vote is unprecedented, although not unexpected.

Media ownership want to be the Teaching Magisterium of the Church of What's Happening Now-and the power to elect the President is the greatest power anyone can have in a Republic.

Yes.

Why do you think they hired him?
