Bill Cosby snubs Dr. Rice
Roll Call ^ | 3-25-2004 | Ed Henry

Posted on 03/25/2004 10:37:57 AM PST by brothers4thID

There was quite a bit of chatter in the Capitol on Wednesday about some unexpected fireworks flying at a ceremony honoring civil rights pioneer Dorothy Height after comic Bill Cosby snubbed National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice.

Cosby decided to voice his opposition to the Bush administration’s foreign policy by refusing to sit next to Rice, as organizers

had planned, at the event in which Height received the Congressional Gold Medal from President Bush and Hill leaders.

“It’s too bad that Mr. Cosby couldn’t cross the partisan divide, especially at an event for a great civil rights leader,” griped one senior Congressional aide.

Rice, who’s pretty busy dealing with the fallout from ex-White House aide Richard Clarke’s book, was unaware of the slight and brushed it off.

“It’s a free country,” Deputy National Security Adviser Jim Wilkinson told HOH.

There was a bit more civility and bipartisanship on display after Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) noted that as usual, the 92-year-old Height was the best-dressed woman in the joint.

Insiders tell HOH that Bush, who was sitting between Height and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), leaned in and whispered that he thought the Congresswoman had that honor.

I even remember "To Russell, my brother, with whom I slept." Best piece of work he ever did.

"Well, who appointed you the big Jello sheriff of the house?"

"A man ran in the house and started jumpin on the bed, dad!"

"Don't you spit that water on me!"

He lost me when he started doing the Cosby Show. That was when he started taking himself too seriously. Great comedian. Lousy politician. Takes himself way too seriously, now.

I remember that album! It's buried someplace in this house.

I liked the first season or two of "Cosby" , because it was more with him and the kids... later I quit watching.

I lost my respect for the man when I heard his "children are brain dead" routine.

Yes... the HBO special from back in the '80s. Ever seen the pilot episode of The Cosby Show? It was based largely on that same comedy routine, in some places it was identical - he just changed the names.

If I'm not mistaken, Cosby has repackaged the exact same routine into yet another TV show, this new one is a cartoon (featuring Cosby's voice, I imagine). For a guy who hasn't had an original thought in twenty years, he's done remarkably well.

Bill Cosby...?
Wasn't he a comedian in the late 1960's and early '70's?

And oh yeah, he was the first token black on a TV series, I Spy. Bob Kulp was better anyway, screw the 'Cos'. Ignorant jerk.

If I can't recall the reason I detest some Hollywood celeb, I may be willing to tolerate him or her onscreen.

Meanwhile there are some people like Jane Fonda, Alec Baldwin, Barbra Streisand, or Tim Robbins that will provide instant recall. I've got my stomach to worry about...

Even Jimmy Carter had bluffed a lot of people into thinking he was a changed man whereas in the past decade he has done much to show himself as partisan as ever.

The biggest goof was that they were put together in the first place...

WHY? Because they are both black?

Everyone knows what a racial "activist" Cosby is and his liberal views. It was was set up from the first and whoever was in charge of the party seating FLUNKS.

I memorized every single Cosby album -- from "Bill Cosby is a Very Funny Fellow: Right!" to "Why is there air?"

This is like seeing a childhood hero take a bribe -- "Say it ain't so, Joe!" He was/is funny and broke barriers. His handling of his son's death, and his appearance on "Touched by an Angel" where he dealt with that death head on won my my respect.

How he can be so blinded by racial hatred not to see that Condi is the culmination of what Black America (however you define it) has been asking for is beyond me.

There is a good chance that the first black American to be elected president will be Condi. She is smart, honest, attractive and loves the USA. This combination is anethema to Leftists such as the Demoncratic party. How sad this wonderful entertainer can't see the truth the positive things that Condi means to the USA and to the black community.

Cosby's given money to giants such as Jesse Jackson, Jr. and Maxine Waters, so his partisanship is to be expected.

I used to like Bill Cosby, really did. Now every time I see his face on the TV screen I either flip the channel or just walk away.

Oh, I remember how Cosby celebrated OJ's acquittal with his college buddies. Shortly thereafter, Cosby's son was murdered by a recent Russian immigrant. Cosby and his wife blamed it on racist America.

Not to mention that he complained about the National Enquirer's coverage of the murder, when it was the Enquirer's reward offer that got a witness to come forward with information on who committed the crime!

Obviously Bill Cosby had more important things to worry about... like why Jell-O Pudding Pops weren't being served.

Bill Cosby, are/were you good at comedy? Well go back to doing it.

I have a somewhat vague recollection of a story about Cosby, when he was doing the Cosby Show. There was a picture of Abe Lincoln on the wall, either on the set of somewhere nearby. Cosby demanded that it be taken down. He said "He never did anything for me".

Cosby sucks. A loser, big time.

>He had another hilarious routine called "Hofstra." It detailed his football playing days at Temple University and how they were repeatedly beaten by Hofstra U. I cannot recall what album that's on, but it is one of the funniest things I've ever heard.<

The album is titled, "Why Is There Air?". It's too bad Cosby is such a colossal boor, his older comedy is second to none.

It's despicable how men and women will treat women today especially if she happens to be a woman who serves her country with much devotion and savvy working with a republican president.

What a pitiful shame. Condi Rice, you've got support and high 5's and many heartfelt prayers from women of many colors and walks of life who will step up and proudly call you sister!

It's an outrage that our political society and political culture has stooped so low as to denigrate a woman because of who she works for.

Ms. Rice you just tell them bitter lying detractors eat their jealous hearts out. You've got the power! The democrat party leaders and friends in the media don't have power to exclusively bend the truth anymore to their own agenda.
