March 25, 2004 -- National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice yesterday responded fiercely to Richard Clarke's charges that fighting terror was not a top priority for President Bush - noting that the former White House aide's allegations are contradicted by his own earlier words. She also called his remarks about her "arrogant at its extreme."

I bet she will testify in public. This has kinda been the admins MO on these things. They let the Dems get all excited and run for a few days and then come back and refute everything with the facts.

IMO, before this current dog and pony show is all over, 60 Minutes, CBS and Viacom will regret hyping this loser and his fiction book.

One thing I have to admire about this pretentious loser is his ability to acknowledge that, by virtue of his position in the past two administrations, HE was in the position to develop counterterrorism strategy and PREVENT 9/11 and, yet, he did NOTHING for 8 years. Then he has the chutzpah (look it up) to blame the attack on BUSH and his administration!!!??? The very focus of his "book" screams volumes about "hit piece" and "revenge", primarily against Condi Rice because she wouldn't promote this twit to the #2 position in the DHS under Ridge.

Try to rationalize this so-called "logic" and then tell me this guy is a loyal Republican. He is so Democrat it hurts to say his traitorous name.

From everything I have seen, Clarke's book was DOA as soon as 60 Minutes hyped it. The WH truth machine has blasted so many holes in it that Swiss cheese has more substance than Clarke's book.

Backstabbers just never get a clue that the ONLY back they have stabbed is their own.

"Not to nitpick, but if Clark is so smart, why would he use the word "insure" instead of "ensure" ?"

Good question. Although it appears that the two words are becoming interchangeable lately.

Did Clark say this in the email to Rice.

"When the era of national unity begins to crack in the near future, it is possible that some will start asking questions, like did the White House do a good job of making sure that intelligence about terrorist threats got to the FAA and other domestic law-enforcement authorities."

I worked yesterday and missed the hearing.

"We have your book and we have your press briefing of August 2002. Which is true?" asked commission member Jim Thompson.

Both, Clarke answered.

Well, that may be the key to Clarke. 'Both.' He's positioning himself for a highlevel position in a Kerry administration. Hey, if Kerry can flipflop, so can Clarke.

Now, would you want to entrust our National Security to either--Clarke or Kerry?

Scary, huh?!?

Republican members on the 9/11 commission also attacked Clarke, accusing him at the hearing of contradictory comments. "We have your book and we have your press briefing of August 2002. Which is true?" asked commission member Jim Thompson.

"Mr Thompson, you have no right to question my truthfulness! I was in Vietnam....oh wait...sorry...I was reading from the wrong set of talking points."

Condi released this email Clarke
had sent her, in conjunction with
her interviews yesterday - Brokaw
& Hannity. It wasn't brought up
at the Hearings, I'm pretty sure.

Condi Rice does not lie.
She makes such a good presentation,
I hope she makes the rounds on every news show.
She is articulate and sincere.

Of course the network news
won't want to interview her.
She exposes their agenda.

This is a wash for the Bush admin., no matter what angle you look at this from.

Don't be so sure. Look at the AP and Reuters headlines still screaming about Bush admin not taking it seriously. (Check Yahoo!, for example) Remember that we are far better informed than the sheeple and we cannot assume they are hearing the complete story. The mainstream Kerry press will repeat the lie often enough in the next few days that it will stick in a lot of minds. By the time they put out their footnote about oh yes, Clarke lied, the big lie is already planted.

Zoiks! Let's see who Clarke REALLY is.

It's OLD MAN KERRY!

Yes, and I would have gotten away with it too, if it weren't for you meddling kids.

I have to agree with you. It is sort of like spreading a rumor that the well is poisoned. Or even spreading a rumor that a young woman is a slut. It may be disproved, etc, but the impression lingers.

Clark-ie is a RACIST and a SEXIST.

To anyone who thinks this is hyperbole, try this little thought experiment:

Suppose Rice were serving in a Democrat administration, and Clarke attacked her for being an ignoramus who had "never heard of Al Qaida."

What would the race hustlers and the media be screaming? Why, that Clarke is a RACIST SEXIST REPUBLICAN, of course!

anyone watch PBS last night and they had extended comments. Lehman took pains to mention to Clarke that his book and public testimony did not match his 15 hours of private testimony. Clarke makes the lame excuse, "Nobody asked me."
