The frank admission has now prompted an investigation by the Pleasant Valley School District, as some parents are pulling their children out of class and accusing the teacher of promoting a pro-homosexual agenda.

One of the reasons we homeschool.

In California, I'm surprised this is even an issue.

I just gave them the information when they asked about it.

Would he also have given them information if they asked him how he and his "husband" had consumated the "marriage". Afterall, if the kids ask then you gotta tell them.

"I, for one, find nothing distressing whatsoever in a teacher indicating his or her sexual orientation to my children," Rice wrote to Davis.

Great. How about a teacher that advocates breaking the law to his students? Gay marriage is still illegal in CA regardless of what Mayor Newsom says.

If this guy was asked by his students, "Did you smoke pot this weekend?" and he responded "yes I did... with my friend Randy... and it was beautiful" he'd be sanctioned/suspended/fired in a heartbeat. Why is this any different?

When I was that age (c. 1961) any teacher who dared to bring up his homosexual sex life with his class would have been fired for good cause that very day. Good to hear that even in California, there are still some parents who are unwilling to have the schools corrupt their childrens' morals.

The Times reports Fanelle has since filed complaints against two fellow teachers, claiming they helped spread the word about his homosexuality. "I got outed," Fanelle said.

I'm not an expert on this, but I think when you marry another guy you have come out of the closet, therefore his statement about others "outing" him confuses me.

Homosexual Agenda Ping - Triple Bagger Alert.

If anyone says that homosexuals are not trying to influence kids, give them this article to read.

If they still think it's ok, that means that they think it's fine if 11 or 12 year old kids are pressured that "gay is okay", and influenced to maybe "try it" themselves.

Teachers are role models. That's why throughout civilized history, teachers have been required not only to be knowledgeable, but of high moral character.

Now we have sexual deviants teaching kids, and the school administration supports them and bends over backwards to assert that support.

Let me know if anyone wants on/off this pinglist.

This incident is happening in Camarillo, a very conservative "bedroom community" in suburban/rural Ventura County, California. This is not a liberal bastion. Republican Elton Gallegly has been our Congressman for about 20 years. Republican Tom McClintock is our State Senator. Republican Tony Strickland is our Assemblyman.

We have Naval housing here for servicemen and their family who work at the nearby Pt. Mugu Naval Airstation and Sea-Bee base. We are the home of St. John's Catholic Seminary, where Cardinal Mahoney was educated. You see "Rush is Right" bumper stickers around town and in the 2000 Presidential election the only person I saw with a Gore yard sign was the jerk who lives a couple blocks away.

The school system is one of the best in the area (rating on the Stanford-9 tests right up with Oak Park and Conejo in Thousand Oaks) and a couple of schools have placed placed among the best in the State (easily out-distancing the Catholic and Christian parochial schools, and the private Carden School). So you can see this sort of thing is a marked anomaly.

Three of my own kids went to the other middle school in town, but I have many friends whose kids attend Monte Vista. The teacher, in my opinion, completely mishandled the situation. When confronted by students' questions about his sexuality, his answer should have been that it was inappropriate to discuss that in class. His legal action against other teachers is going to tear that school apart. Again, if he felt he had been "outed," he should have discussed it with the Principal and his union rep.

I know the parent, Elizabeth Rice, who was quoted in the article. She is a lawyer by training, and somewhat left-of-center politically, but she is a good and caring parent. I would tend to agree with her statements about non-discrimination, but I part company when it comes to openly discussing abnormal sexual practices and illegal marital unions in front of impressionable children.

Recently, a teacher in the local high school was suspended and, I believe, fired for doing something similar. I don't know how this is going to turn out, but it is clear that he does not have the support of the majority of residents, not withstanding the impression left in the article.

Little Johnny was in his 7th grade class when the teacher asked the
children what their fathers did for a living. All the typical answers
came up -- firefighter, police officer, sales rep, doctor, lawyer,
etc. Johnny was being uncharacteristically quiet and so the teacher
asked him about his father.

My father's an exotic dancer in a gay cabaret and takes off his
clothes in front of other men. Sometimes, if the offer's really good,
he'll go out to the alley with some guy and have sex with him for money."

Shaken by this statement, the teacher hurriedly set the other children
to work on some exercises and took Johnny aside to ask him, "Is that
really true about your father?"

No," said Johnny, "He works for the Kerry for President campaign, but
I was too embarrassed to say that in front of the other kids."

Every day I appreciate more and more the Catholic Schooling my parents busted their ass to assure me, and the check I write every month to ensure my child also gets a solid moral based education, rather than the social morally void experiments that is the public school system.

Upon hearing some negative comments, Fanelle read aloud to the class the sexual-harassment code from the student handbook,

Why isn't subjecting a student in the class who DID NOT ask about this teacher's 'marriage' considered to be sexual harrassment?

Would said student have gotten in trouble for getting up and walking out? Betcha he/she would have.
