Anyone done a detailed analysis of the Republican prospects for the House races this year? My sense is that we're in danger of losing ground here. We've lost a couple recently in special elections, the one in SD with the crazy driver, and one other, I think, was it another district in KY? I know there has been some favorable redistricting in various states, but will that be enough to offset the projected losses? It'd be nice to hold the margin we had in the House at the beginning of the session and hopefully expand it.
If Bush somehow manages to pull out a victory, it'd be nice to have the House in Republican hands again. OTOH, if Kerry wins, we're toast if it becomes a Rat House.

There seem to be a lot of pessemist on FR recently. Instead of hanging their heads, they should be out working to get Republicans elected with their feet as part of the Grassroots movement. Doom and gloom has to be kicked off here -- never saw anything like it.
Then Gov Bush was down to Ma Richards in the last week of the campaign and he clobbered her because not one supporter gave up or got down -- we kept right on working for his election with optimism going door to door to ask for people's votes.

Right now the local voters are responding to Clooney's celebrity. When the campaign gets underway, that is likely to change.

Jim Bunning needs to put together a strong GOTV operation, like Bush has in the battleground states. Since his own reelection is very likely (though not completely certain) he should try to help his allies on the November ballot.

The Ken Salazar/Bob Schaffer result is troubling, but not surprising. In fact, I'm surprised that Salazar is polling so far below 50%. It suggests an opening for Schaffer, who has been out of the public eye for two years.

Salazar is familar to most CO voters. Most people have never have heard of Schaffer. Its going to be close.

There is a rising likelihood that the RATS could win the Senate by 1-2 seats and the GOP would lose ground in the House, bot not lose it. This election is going to be terrible for the GOP

That is my fear. And no, I'm not giving up, and am going to work hard in what ways I can to help our side win, but unless the close races are in your district or nearby, there is little you can do "in the trenches" to help. I am in Ohio, and I can't afford the cost or the time to go to Colorado to help go door to door or drive voters to the polls. But I will help our local organization try to get the state's electoral votes for Bush, which at this point seems pretty dicey.
What I'm saying is that a lot of people on FR just assume this election is going to be a blowout for Bush and the GOP. That is very unlikely. Under best-case circumstances it seems a narrow win for Bush and either holding or minor losses in the House and Senate. That really hurts on the Senate side, where we've seen what the Rat obstructionist tactics have done.
