[history]
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- In August 2002, then-White House counterterrorism czar Richard Clarke told reporters that the Bush administration -- from day one -- told him to "vigorously pursue" the Clinton administration policy that allowed the United States to kill Osama bin Laden if the opportunity arose.

In your post, ALL of those "failures" can be laid directly at the feet of none other than Richard Clarke, as he has told us HE, in fact, was in charge during that time.

Right, like I said, everyone was sitting on the audio tape, CBS included, and Clarke wasn't grilled about it on 60 Minutes.

Good news, but I'm still holding my breath. I was going nuts today because I couldn't Freep and listen to Rush at work like I usually do ;-)

I said when he apolgized that he must "feel" very quilty. He definately is in a CYA mode....trying to point the blame on any one other than himself.

I'm now getting the argument on lefty websites that Clarke is credible because he's a Republican That cracks me up. My liberal friends are stuck on this too. They all cling to turncoat Republicans, everything they say is gold...take the same guy, have him say something good about Bush and they'd be lambasting him.
Intellectual honesty--that's all I'm asking for...

I love that CNN has this on the main page under the main story. On CNN?
Wow......and on the same day that I saw a flock of pigs flying by.
To: Howlin
The amazing thing is, these people knew but didn't report the truth until FOX reported it. That is really scary, our hands is in the hands of a government watchdog that has turned out to be a Yorkshire Terrier!

Very nice! Thank you. Posted that link on their site, along with links to the websites of the guys he donated to (both Democrats). I'm awaiting their spin on how that doesn't really mean anything now.

Nevermind the fact Kerry is saying there's a Right Wing Attack Machine going after him, when there's a Democratic Attack Machine called the 9/11 Commission.

They can't afford to just say "provides a point by point rebuttal". They should say each point. I.e. you said there was no plan left by the old team. Is this true or is it false? You said nothing had happened on the outstanding issues since 1998? Is this true or is this false? You said Bush ordered the policy change from gradual rollback over 5 years to rapid elimination? Is this true...
Because I swear to you, the media is playing this as though we can't read. They know by now that it isn't true and won't fly with anyone who does read, but they are not admitting it or backing off. They are spinning for their own skulls full of mush who will not even look at the document, and who will depend instead entirely on press flack spin. Which is, DNC talking point, if anybody shows they are baldly lying to our faces, why that is ferocious and partisan and meanspirited, isn't it?

Clarke is the worst kind of spook, a psychotic who hears voices and is loyal to no one save his inner demon, which makes him strive to be the center of attention.
Faced with the reality that his "services" were no longer required, he has alas degenerated into the typical apparatchik "I will take down those who have betrayed me" mode.
He is small potatoes.
