Last Friday night I had a chance to head into the big city (Atlanta) for a little culture. I have three young children at home and it was a rare opportunity for me to venture out of Suburbia.....

Some of my best friends are boomers..my mom is even a boomer, so I was certainly only commenting on a certain element of the generation, it makes for more silly commentary.

Sounds like it was John F Kerry.

I notice this took place in Hotlanta, a Southern city. The eradication of the Southern accent has been duly noted in more than one FR thread in the past. Did this hippy have one?

Honey...I feel your pain. I'm 36, born in Kennestone, raised in Douglas county, sho nuff a country boy.
I work for a company near Six Flags that fabricates and services large exhibits and trade show booths for mostly large, Fortune 500 companies.
When our operations manager take our mostly liberal, marketing major clients on tours of our facility and they reach my area,(I program and run a CNC router), they are met with a large white sign with black vinyl letters that say:
"I voted for Bush just to pi$$ you liberals off."
"Cuz I'm cool like that."
The operations manager is a very cool guy, and a republican, so I'm allowed to leave it up.

I notice this took place in Hotlanta, a Southern city. The eradication of the Southern accent has been duly noted in more than one FR thread in the past. Did this hippy have one? It's not that the southern accent has been eradicated, it's more that 85% of those that live within "The perimeter", and consider themselves "Atlantans" are from cities north of the Mason-Dixon line.
Those of us natives, who sell "Atlantans" $6 baskets of homegrown 'maters and live outside "the Perimeter"still talk like that.

"We arrived in Virginia Highlands "
Mistake #1. Being so close to Emory and Piedmont Park only guarantees that conservatives are always in the minority in that area. I'm also surprised he wasn't a gay biker, given the proximity to Piedmont Park and Midtown. You should've spent your money somewhere in Cobb County.
I live in Canton and never go into town anymore. But I admire your response.

He responded with a nonsensical, I served in Vietnam! Shoulda asked what was in his DD214. I've seen many a liberal lie through their teeth about being a veteran.
My mini van, besides being (yuck!) a mini van
Whats wrong with a mini-van?

I have been driving one for 12 years now, loaded with the kiddies, and long for a snazy little job that can't fit the entire basketball team!!!

He did not, but then, neither do I. I have found in the time we've been in the SOuth, that I really am a southerner at heart and could never go back to Yankee land.

FABULOUS! My husband left his job a few weeks ago, bunch of San Fran libs, and is working for a nice Republican now. What a huge difference it has made in his attitude.

Man on a Harley? Most bikers I know who ride harleys are conservatives. The only wacko democrats on a harley I have ever heard of was kerry. (and jay leno)
considering the repeal of helmet laws is identified with the republican party, many hardcore bikers do not vote democrat. Again, creative writing needs to be grounded in a bit of reality.
Next time rewrite the story with something other than a Harley. Perhaps a toyota hybrid, or hippies on bicycles.
Also the vietnam vets got more respect from republicans than from jimmy carter or bill clinton. Many of the vets I have spoken to after finding out kerry got three purple hearts consider him a joke. Kerry does not have the universal support of vets.
As for the one finger salute. Which hand? How was he able to operate the harley's clutch with his left hand and the accelerator with the right at the same time as "saluting". The "saluting" is either at a dead stop in neutral OR while at speed and not shifting. It is very unrealistic to be "saluting" in first without annoying the engin.
The story needs a rewrite. It just does not ring realistic other htan the removal of the sticker.

The story is a fake.
Idiotic comments like that get freepers who ride killed.
To: Gator113
Most bikers are most definitly not liberals. Harley did a survey and found most of their bike owners, among other things, were republicans.

Great story. But I agree with some of the earlier comments - most bikers I know are conservative.

Freepers who ride have enough intelligence not to argue with automobile passengers while moving.
They are also smart enough not to ride parallel with a automobile, either get in front or behind the vehicle.
They also know enough to remain mentally aware of their surroundings at all times.
