No problem. Kerrey basically did us a favor. Now the other Nets will report on this just to bash Fox.
Thompson and Armitage are now doing what this star chamber is supposed to really be about--informtation without editorial.
Just said he 'differed' with Clarke's version of 'elimination' of AQ not being an option.

"what isn't a matter of morality?"
Lying.
To: mewzilla
One of the Republican questioners pointed out to Clarke that the book differs greatly from his testimony...Clarke said that he just wasn't asked the right questions. (!)

The way I see it, Clarke shouldn't have written his stupid book that contradicts what he said in 2002. He was risking himself by conducting the on record briefing and exposing himself to be a flat out liar by coming forth with a book 2 years later.

The white house gave the go-ahead for Jim Angle to make public this tape of Clarke.
While Mr. Clarke may think he has been one of the most important people in gov't it's our gov't. Not his. And he was speaking on our dime. So, if he does not like the White House releasing the interview that's too bad.
A lot of the stuff this guy is talking about is a matter of public record. Or, observations that are 20/20 in hindsite. Is there a smoking gun? I don't see one. All I see is a beaurocrat. He reminds me of that smarmy character Martin Short used to do on Saturday night live. The guy with the slicked back hair that held his cigarette like Adolf H.

Boy, the committee and the Dems have royally shot themselves in the foot with this performance. Wow.
To: texasbluebell
I love this Armitage guy. He's a breath of fresh air among so many of these pampered princes.
To: ReleaseTheHounds
Fox had permission to release the "background" - and background is not "classified". Kerrey was way off the mark - it was just the typical knee-jerk reaction from the typical democrat jerks re anything Fox says!

That's okay. From what Rep. Dreier said on FNC this morning, Clarke's latest version also differs from the testimony he's given various intell committees. Anyone mentioned that little tidbit?Neither Clarke or the panel brought that up.

"...we could mail him rice!!!"
What a good idea. He can have all the rice he wants.

What channel?
To: Wolfstar
Better buy one before the election, might not be able to get one after.
To: GOPrincess
Clarke said that he just wasn't asked the right questions. (!)How Clintonian.
To: texasbluebell
Armitage said he gave Clarke's book "the Washington read"...looked for his name in the index. LOL.

I think it would be fine it if it was clearly identified bag of rice. And a note attached, I heard your request for more 'rice' and wanted to be a help.... It would be funny to see how many tons of rice he could actually receive.

Agreed. If Clarke didn't want to shoot himself in the foot in 2004, he should have kept his yap shut in 2002.

Is there any DOUBT any longer WHO comes out of this hearing the HERO and who comes out the Villian!! Poor Thompson just got slapped and he took it sheepishly. No, there is no doubt to those of us with perception. That is to say, your conclusion is the opposite of reality.
Clarke's credibility was absolutely shredded today.

To: Indy Pendance
there is another thread up where Lehman {someone on the commision} says Clarke in private interviews said things contrary to what he said in public. And rips him for his book.
