To: MeekOneGOP
The Democrats remind me of lawyers who say outrageous things in court that they
know will be objected to by opposing counsel, and sustained by the judge, because they believe that the jurors will remember what was said even if it's officially "stricken from the record". Unfortunately, in this case, many of the great unwashed will remember that a news bimbo on one of their favorite television shows interviewed a seemingly innocent looking, scholarly counter-terrorism "expert" who said that the President had put American lives at risk on 9/11 by not being as attune as his brilliant predecessor to Al-Qaeda and its evil ways. In the President's defense, they got to see one of Dick Clarke's fellow think-tankers, a limp-wristed fellow who spent more time and energy praising Clarke than he did strenuously objecting to the characterization of the Bush Administration's effort in the W.O.T. as a "terrible job".
What they will not get to see or hear about, however, are the inconvenient facts of CBS/VIACOM's conflict of interest in this "story", and the letters and articles written by Mr. Clarke which flatly contradict everything he said in his interview.

This article details a conversation between Lou Dobbs and James Woolsey, former CIA director.
Woolsey points out several inconsistent and outright lies in Clarke's book that are fascinating. Woolsey also details how Tenet and everyone in the Clinton and Bush administration know there were high level contacts between Iraq and Al Qaeda.
There is an older article linked in post #32 that is interesting as well.

The latest Dem spin on the letter as articulated by Howard Fineman on the Imus show is that Clark was only complimenting the President for his actions on 9/11. Fineman failed to mention Clark's statement in the same letter that "it was an enormous privilege to serve you these last 24 months.

Wonder why Lesley Stahl didn't want to get on Imus yesterday? Bet he had this to ask her about and challenge the content of the letter vs the book of lies.
