Man Who Killed Armed Intruder Jailed Eight Years

A man who stabbed to death an armed intruder at his home was jailed for eight years today.

Carl Lindsay, 25, answered a knock at his door in Salford, Greater Manchester, to find four men armed with a gun.

When the gang tried to rob him he grabbed a samurai sword and stabbed one of them, 37-year-old Stephen Swindells, four times.

Mr Swindells, of Salford, was later found collapsed in an alley and died in hospital.

Lindsay, of Walkden, was found guilty of manslaughter following a three-week trial at Manchester Crown Court.

He was sentenced to eight years’ imprisonment.

After the case, Detective Chief Inspector Sam Haworth said: “Four men, including the victim, had set out purposefully to rob Carl Lindsay and this intent ultimately led to Stephen Swindells’ death.

“I believe the sentences passed today reflect the severity of the circumstances.”

Three other men were charged with robbery and firearms offences in connection with the incident, which took place in February last year.

It scares me to think what he might've got had he used a gun.

I florida, which you guys like to make fun of, the homeowner would have been a hero, and the three surviving perps would be on death row for participating in a felony that resulted in a death.

English citizens having to defend themselves with swords because they do not have a right to posses firearms. Let's hope this never happens in America.
I wonder if the punishment would be worse if he had killed the intruder with a firearm he legally owned? Look for new legislation in England to ban swords.

When the state takes away the God given right of self defense from honest citizens...

Then that state is no longer legitimate and the power of that state stolen from its citizens needs to be taken back

We did it in 17776

IMO

"We better pray that this does not happen here in the Good old USA."

There would be a revolution within 24 hours of such a law getting on the books. No, I take that back: There would be a revolution if the congress-critters even DISCUSSED puting such a travesty of the books. Congress would be taken over and occupied posthaste. Sic Semper Tyrannis!

"What a travesty that this guy is charged with murder, and the accomplices that helped to get their partner in crime killed walk free."

Apparently crime does pay in England. If there was ever a population who deserve to be robbed, raped and murdered it is the English. If I was a criminal I would be over there right now relieving the weenies of their cash and valuables.

I'm not clear on this but was the robber killed inside the home or outside? Also, what prison terms did the other three guys get?

Yes, I wonder how long the common folk will put up with this left wing madness? Do you think they are so beaten down that they have just given up? The exact same thing happened a couple fo years ago where a farmer living in a rural area shot and killed a robber, and he was arrested, sent to prison, and all of his assets transferred to the robbers survivors through the courts. Sheer madness.

Imagine how badly things could have gone in Australia, where swords are illegal.

I'm sure swords are illegal in UK, too. Even most of the knives many Americans like to collect are illegal over there, a Bowie, for instance.

What I can't find in any of the above is whether or not any sort of jury was involved....that would compound the idiocy of this situation.

That's ridiculous. Why doesn't the Conservative party run on a platform to pardon everyone convicted of using deadly or disproportionate force in self-defense? Who issues pardons in the UK?
