I would love to see you say THAT to the DNC...who rhetorically day after day pounded President Bush on his National Guard tour of duty FOR WEEKS and WEEKS; NOT to mention during the 2000 campaign...the "alcohol" problem that they rehetorically stated day after day on President Bush!

The Bush machine would not let something "this big" lie around and not use it. Has it ever been used against him in any of his other elections? I'm just saying - don't get so excited about this - it will probably go no where. It sounds way to juicy to not have been used by now, even during the primaries But don't you see we're in a new age? The rules have changed. The liberals no longer have a monopoly on the dissemination of information. Thank God for the internet, talk radio, and cable television!

I did not know he still was a commissioned officer until 1978. Interesting.

I woke up this morning and noticed that, like the LAT and NYT, the Washington Post story (p. A7) neglected to mention why Kerry's finally acknowledged presence at the meeting, described as "controversial", never explained what the meeting was about. I called the ombudsman and raised hell. I suggest others contact the papers. Unless people call them on this--we will see nothing but Kerry talking points until November. Go to it!!

I disagree. I don't see making a big deal out of it, but Kerry's full history needs to be verified and put out for the public to review. If someone still wants to vote for him; well, stranger things have happened.
We all know that there's life after death. Dead people continue to vote. And then there's "Vote early ... and often."

Hi! By "VN" I assume you mean "Viet Nam."
Were you aware of the fact that John Kerry is a Viet Nam Veteran? Somebody said he was a veterinarian there, but I think that is wrong.
Thanks.
To: rwfromkansas
It is a bit schizophrenic that Anti-War Kerry, while still publically associated with the VVAW decides to enlist in the Naval Reserve instead of letting his commitment expire. Then again, Kerry's association with the VVAW seems to be more of a "politician looking for a cause" than of real "outrage".

"What say you, or what have you said, about the AWOL issue?"
Old news - move on. Concentrate on the current, and future, issues. Even the "decorated veteren" spiel doesn't really cut it with a lot of people (in my most humble opinion). There are alot of more important issues to be considered; economy, WOT, Iraq, Medicare (soon to be bankrupt)...

See post #91.
To: An.American.Expatriate
Does anyone think that Kerry may have been the FBI mole within VVAW?
To: John Thornton
It is an interesting possibility and would fir with a lot of other "strange" items - of course if he were to EVER admit this little tidbit, his entire lefty support web would be in shreds . . .
To: familyofman
Credibility is THE most important issue. Kerry's past actions are an indicator of his future actions, and thus, his past lack of credibility indicates a future lack of the same. Without his past, there is no basis on which to judge him.
To: Final Authority
If this is broadcast on CNN and the networks then it is useful. I saw a CNN article today covering Kerry's 1971 testimony before Congress.

"Furthermore - HE WAS STILL A COMMISSIONED OFFICER! Kerry did not resign his commission until 1978. Even if that commission was in the inactive reserves - he was still bound by the laws which pertain to officers of the United States."
But he did report it, he was an FBI mole for nixon with a 3 purpleheart cover story. He then went into the witness protection program and was offered a job as senator for his service to the country.

(ok I made that up, but if that broke imagine how the left would react.)

"I am trying to figure out exactly what conservative principle familyofman believes in. He seems to be pro-gay marriage, anti-Bush, and anti-religion."
Very conservative on fiscal matters. I'm not really pro-gay marriage, I just don't see it as a threat to convential marriage (like mine) - divorce & infidelity are much more srious threats. I am not anti-Bush, but some of his admin have made some really stupid comments concerning economic conditions, outsourcing, and illegal immigrants. I'm an avowed, practicing atheist - not anti-religion (no more than you probably are anti-greek/roman/norse god worship).
To: CJ Wolf
LOL. Actually, it would not surprise me at all if Kerry was an FBI informant. Possibly even an agent provacateur. That would really help his standing with the left!

The election will be determined on current issues - not 20 - 30 year old allegations.I hope you're correct. Because the Kerry camp has two distinct paths back to three-decade old news. One is the occasional Vietnam reference by Vietnam war hero John "Vietnam" Kerry. The other is the Guard AWOL joke, which had already been put to bed during two other elections, but Kerry jumped on anyways. Then, when poll numbers told him otherwise, he backed off.
