The election will be determined on current issues - not 20 - 30 year old allegations.I hope you're correct. Because the Kerry camp has two distinct paths back to three-decade old news. One is the occasional Vietnam reference by Vietnam war hero John "Vietnam" Kerry. The other is the Guard AWOL joke, which had already been put to bed during two other elections, but Kerry jumped on anyways. Then, when poll numbers told him otherwise, he backed off.

So do I. If anything I tend to see things in terms of 'gaming' and strategy which is why I don't really think old news is going to sway anyone. With a nearly 50/50 electorate all swing votes become important & to take the chance on losing some of those by muck-raking is a losing strategy. Dwell on the positive, not the negative is how I think swing voters can be attracted. What are the candidates views and plans for the future - we can't really change the past (at least not yet).
