Matt Reilly, also known as 'harpseal' on Free Republic, died on March 19, 2004.
His friend Eileen is making arrangements for a Memorial service at the local VA.
Matt was a former Navy SEAL, a keen businessman, a friend to his Walker Hound, and an accomplished sailor.
He was also my friend and my business partner. I can't barely see the keyboard through my tears. He will be missed greatly.

Christ our eternal King and God, You have destroyed death and the devil by Your Cross and have restored man to life by Your Resurrection; give rest, Lord, to the soul of Your servant Matthew who has fallen asleep, in Your Kingdom, where there is no pain, sorrow or suffering. In Your goodness and love for all men, pardon all the sins he has committed in thought word or deed, for there is no man or woman who lives and sins not, You only are without sin.
For You are the Resurrection, the Life, and Repose of Your servant Matthew, departed this life, O Christ our God; and to You do we send up glory with Your Eternal Father and Your All-holy, Good and Life-creating Spirit; both now and forever and to the ages of ages. Amen

IMHO, harpseal was definitely one of the "good guys" on this forum, Laz.
While I never met him personally, I had great respect for the opinions he posted.
News of his passing is very shocking.
My sincerest prayers and condolences go out to his family and friends.
May his soul rest in the Eternal Peace of our Heavenly Father.

"Matt was willing to go the hard route to become an experimental subject, not so much to extend his own life (and God knows he wanted to live!) but to possibly help the others who would follow his down his painful path. " Unusual character and courage.
He will be missed --- there was wisdom in his posts.

You have my prayers.
My heart goes out to you today, my friend.
Same for all of Matt's other friends and family.

See you down the road, brother.
Ask the Lord...maybe He'll let you lurk...
To: Lazamataz
Deepest condolences to Matt's family and friends. This is such a tragic loss for all of us. Can't imagine FR without Harpseal posting.............................
To: Lazamataz
Matt was a class act, a great patriot, and will be sadly missed by all of us.
May God Bless and comfort his family and close friends, including you, Laz.
Not only this forum, but America will be much the poorer for his passing.

What a loss. I always admired his stances reflected in his posts - I had hoped to meet him one day. Perhaps at the Rally Point.
Prayers for you, Laz, and all those to whom he was dear.

Oh no! Not harpseal! I'm so sorry to hear about this.
His posts were always worth reading, and yes, I did notice that he was rarely around in the recent past.
What a great loss to all his family and friends, and to FR.
