Condi Smacks Clarke on Fox'N Friends
Fox News Channel
Posted on 03/22/2004 4:12:01 AM PST by ReleaseTheHounds
Condi Rice was just interviewed on Fox'N Friends and she did a slam-dunk on Richard Clarke.
She properly noted that he had been Counter-Terrorism Czar for a number of years in the Clinton Administration and had plenty of opportunity to develop strategies to confront Al Qaeda which he (and that Administration) never pursued.
She acknowledged that Clarke had a number of "ideas" about confronting and combatting terrorism -- many of which the Bush Administration adopted. But they were a set of "ideas" not a comprehensive strategy which President Bush was looking for.
Typical Condi performance: flawless.

I haven't heard this latest round of Condi interviews, but I hope she's hitting her stride.

Surprisingly, Soledad O'Brien asked few questions and just let Condi Rice talk.

Yes, Soledad conducted a good interview. She zeroed in on a few pertinent questions and Condi ripped. Talked about the Camp David meeting on the weekend after 9/11 that "Dick Clarke was NOT invited to." I guess they had already figured out that Clarke had not contributed much. She said the map that was rolled out at that meeting was NOT Iraq, but Afghanistan.

You could tell Condi was sooo focused...her voice started to shake at the beginning of the segment, but then she gathered up full steam!! Very focused, very concise, very Condi!

If Mr Clarke was competent he would still be working for the Bush administration. The reality is that he was demoted to "cyberterrorism" and was then allowed to retire.
Now he joins the Kerry kabinet along with all the other "short bus" experts.

I believe Condi tap-danced all over Clarke's rotting corpse earlier today. This woman is
pissed. Going public with policy disagreements in a blatant attempt to flog your book doesn't score points with her. I bet she went to Bush and told him, in no uncertain terms, that she wanted at this ass-clown.
And Bush probably said, "yes, ma'am!"
Bitch slappin' ain't the word for what's going on here.

Condi's on the Today show right now (at least on my TV). Lauer's interview of her is tougher, but she's getting out her talking points.

Yup, now who's paying him? For the book? Simon & Schuster, which is own by Viacom, which in turn owns ... (wait for it) ... CBS, which broadcast the "60 Minutes" puff interview.
Clarke's regular job is as a professor at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government. He co-teaches a class with another professor named Rand Beers, with whom he worked in the State Dept. for many years. And Rand Beers is ... (wait for it again) ... an advisor on foreign policy and national security to John Kerry!
Does that answer your question? :P
