Kennedy: CIA Will Confirm Kerry Met with Foreign Leaders
NewsMax.com ^ | Carl Limbacher

Defending Sen. John Kerry against charges he fabricated claims of meetings with foreign leaders who offered their political support, Sen. Ted Kennedy said Sunday that the Central Intelligence Agency will verify Kerry's account.

Asked to identify the leaders Kerry met with, Kennedy told NBC's "Meet the Press," "The CIA knows it . They work for the president. They can give him the names of all of those countries."

Kennedy complained that the White House still hasn't identified the members of Vice President Dick Cheney's Energy task Force, or the White House official who leaked the name of CIA employee Valerie Plame.

But when pressed on Kerry's alleged meetings with foreign leaders, Kennedy reiterated the claim that the CIA will back his account up.

"He's obviously - he's met leaders over a period of time," he told "Meet the Press." "And anyone - the CIA knows who they - if the White House is really interested in those leaders, they control the CIA, the CIA gives them those lists."

Tim Russert does a great job of interviewing people on "Meet the Press" with 2 exceptions, Hillary and Ted Kennedy. Kennedy made it through the whole interview without directly answering one question from Russert. Shameful!

"Let this story grow and grow!"

I agree. It has to look surpassing strange to the average voter that Kerry refuses to even name the foreign leaders he claims to have met with. People are bound to wonder what he's trying to hide and if this matter is kept in front of the voters, many of them are going to start believing the worst -- which will probably be accurate.

Another issue that should be kept in the forefront is Kerry's service record. It can't be repeated too often that Bush produced his but Kerry won't. Again, many voters will naturally wonder what Kerry is trying to hide -- and why he expects Bush to disclose his service record when he himself refuses.

We know all this has got to be hurting Kerry when Kennedy tries to deflect it by bringing up old settled matters like Cheney's energy consultations, a challenge that was definitively resolved in court and subseqently dropped by the GAO.

"wonder how many people it takes to get TK back upright when he falls."

The easy way is to just sandbag him with Nadler.

"I am unclear on this. Why can't Kerry just tell us?"

There are only two possibles here. Either he's lying about having met them or the leaders in question are generally unpopular with most American voters. Nothing else can explain Kerry's odd behavior here.

How come Mr. Kennedy is so willing to accept the intelligence of the CIA when it pertains to Mr. Kerry, but he won't accept it when it pertains to President Bush?

Right on, dude (or dudette, as the case may be)!

These were Emmy winning performances on MTP. Ted Kennedy, best actor in an inebriated role, and Tim Russert, best supporting actor playing a cowering host of a formerly interesting television news program. We should check Russert's ethnicity - based on his capitulation to the Mouth of Massachusetts this morning, there's a good chance Timmy is really Spanish.

Now that's a very good point! Bump! ;-)

Blather or Brokelaw will probably point that out in this evening's news cycle ... NOT!

"...now says that Kerry never said that - but Teddy is implying that these meetings did happen."

And so has Kerry, who just announced that he now declines those endorsements. When everybody has a different story and the principal shrinks from answering the simplest question on a subject he himself brought up, people are going to smell a rat.

Teddy is absolutely right. Why, Kerry picked up a bag of cash from Aristide only a month ago!

These goofballs just don't get it. It would be infinitely better for all of us if Senator John F. Kerry were lying about his many foreign endorsements. It is that he might be telling the truth that has us worried, because we all know the sorts of leaders he favors and who favor him.

Teddy the Liquor Pig

He didn't carry the water for Kerry far enough to put out the flames, instead he has fanned them even more.

Thanks!

While Kerry flip flops, Fat Boy belly flops.

Has anyone remembered the crazy congressional investigation in the 1990's of the alleged secret meeting of VP candidate George H.W. Bush with foreign leaders of Iran during the 1980 campaign in order to keep the hostages from being released in an "October Surprise"? The claim that a member of presidential ticket would try to influence foreign relations for personal polical gain was supposedly so serious of a charge that dem Congressional leaders claimed they had no choice but to investigate the allegations.

We are at war today, unlike 1980 (although the hostage-taking was an act of war).
Why aren't Fat Boy's claims this morning just as serious? Perhaps he wants just such an wild goose-chase investigation to be requestred by the Republicans?

Your right, the dems dont get the downside of this. They really think that if these foreign leaders endorsed Kerry, it would be great. Just keep the anti-american sentiment rolling. All they have to do is watch the late night comedians. Once they pick up on it, and makes jokes over and over, you are in trouble. The foreign leader and the flip flopping are really starting to stick. Of course on Bush, they are still on the "he is stupid" mantra, just because he mangles words.

The thing that is going to make it hard for the dems, is I truly believe most americans believe Bush is a good and decent man. A man of faith. They may not agree with his policies and want to see a dem in office. But the hard core groups (40%) on both sides would vote for a "pig" if it were the democrat or republican nominee. It that old middle 20% you have to swing one way or another.
