Ross Perot: The heroes' hero

This is a very interesting article about H. Ross Perot.
He's definitely an interesting person. I think he definitely loves his country.
Here's an excerpt from the article:
"Ross Perot is known around the world as the folksy dynamo who founded a computer empire and ran for president in 1992 and 1996. His colorful criticism that NAFTA would produce a "giant sucking sound" of jobs being siphoned overseas echoes today.
When asked to write his own epitaph once, he answered: "Made more money faster. Lost more money in one day. Led the biggest jailbreak in history. He died. Footnote: The New York Times questioned whether he did the jailbreak or not."

Old Man Bush caused his own demise. Can't handle the truth, can you. Therefore you must blame everyone else. But maybe you should be thankful to those of us who voted for Perot and "elected" Bill Clinton. That's what gave Congress to the Republicans for the first time in decades. Not that it did any good. Clinton soiled the Oval Office but, other than that, he didn't do a lot of damage, thanks to the '94 election. You can blame 911 on Clinton all you want. And I agree he could have done something about Bin Laden. But so could W. He was in office 9 months and I didn't see him doing anything about Bin Laden, either. He was too busy reappointing all the Clintonites such as Tenet at the CIA. And the truth of the matter is, I don't think anyone could have prevented it. It was just a matter of time before we were hit and it's just a matter of time before we're hit again. We cannot win this war without getting ruthless. And there is nobody who will do that. This is a war we'll be fighting until the end of time.
And, following your theory, you should be grateful to the "Nader-ites". You can't deny that those who voted for Nader were Gore voters who gave Florida to Bush. Then again, your bitterness stands in the way of you seeing the truth.
I voted for Perot in Texas in '92. Bush the Elder won Texas. And again, he didn't take my vote from the Elder. The Elder's broken promise is what caused me not to vote for him. And you can call someone a liar all you want. But the simple fact is that the people who voted for Perot were non voters up until that election. Remember? It was a record turnout? Or is your bitterness causing you blindness AND denial?
Protest vote? Not me. But I'm not voting for someone just because there is an "R" behind their name. If you do then you're no better than a flaming liberal democrat.
Viva Perot!

You are correct about Perot. He is a snake in the grass. It was more than business, it was a personal hatred for Bush the elder. Perot revamped the public schools in Texas & expected a place in Bush the elders administration in DC.. He didn't get it & he retaliated by sinking Bush's bid for a second term. If anyone noticed Perot on election night, the night he lost to Clinton, he was the happiest man in either camp.

I think you are wrong about the Perot voters. I knew a lot of them, my husband included. They would not have voted for Clinton, and I'm sure they would have voted for Bush.
I think Perot definitely took votes from Bush, and that's how Clinton got elected.
Now, Bush did run a horrible campaign, and I think he could have easily have pulled those votes back for him. However, he did not fight at all.

I knew a number of Perot voters too, disgruntled Republicans ALL. They would *never* have voted for Clinton & they would *never* have stayed home. They believed the little creep (Perot) & he deliberately duped them. Some of them have admitted to being fooled by him. Others continue to lie to themselves.

Eisenhauer was a general ..Truman, Johnson, Nixon, GHWBush VP's and the rest all governors. Truman was never a governor. He was a senator.

Hey... you finally stated something the is a positive.. the shift in Congress... I totally agree with you and..I also agree Bush the elder was a piss poor president... I voted against his son "W" in the primaries because I was tired of the Bushes.
All I'm saying is the R means nothing..it's what damage the "D" guy can perpetrate on my children's future.
Clinton proved that our continueing Liberty is very fragile and because of him we have deep and irreparable cracks in our national security.
National elections these days have lasting and dangerous consequences.
I'm glad your vote was in Texas, unfortunately mine is in NY and almost a waste of time.
Thanks for your service to our country BTW

I don't think the people that I knew that voted for Perot were duped. They were just sick and tired of politics as usual.
I understood(understand) where they are coming from, but I never thought Perot or Buchanan were a viable third party option.
If there was a reasonalbe person that was against out-sourcing, illegal immigration, for a strong defense, and didn't waste the govt. money, I'd be seriously looking at that candidate.
There are things that I love about President Bush. Plus I think he is an honorable man. However, there are some issues that I do not agree with him one iota (illegal immigration for instance).
I just don't think it makes a lot of sense to vote for third party right now because none of them are strong enough, and I don't want the democrats to win an election.
My hubby and I argued about Perot many times before that election. I was mad at him for voting for Perot.

Maybe I'm wrong, but didn't Perot endorse GWB on the Larry King Show right before the 2000 election?

"Maybe I'm wrong, but didn't Perot endorse GWB on the Larry King Show right before the 2000 election? "I believe you are correct. [but after 3 million jobs disappeared in some sucking sound, Bush II is lucky there is no replacement for Perot or Buchanan this time]

Duped means fooled. The "volunteers" took him at his word & believed what he said. They were fooled. He was a liar & did not intend to really run for president. He accomplished what he set out to do, that was to destroy Bush.
