"Her Heinzness!! LOL!"

Yeah, I've alternated between that and "her Heinzess." Not sure which sounds better.

"What are these "FBI intercepts"???"

Intercepts might not be the best description. By this time the FBI had the VVAW under surveillance. (Actually they had them under surveillance almost from the start, back in 1967.)

The VVAW thought their meeting places were bugged, and even had bugging experts sweep their areas--especially before this discussion of the assassination.

They moved their discussion and vote to a Menonite Homeless shelter (called Common Ground) just to be on the safe side. Which is probably why the FBI didn't hear about the assassination discussion.

The one glitch is that Kerry supposedly was on Firing Line with Buckley (IIRC) during the same timeframe.

Turns out (surprise!) it's not a glitch.

KERRY RETREATS FROM HIS DENIAL ON VIETNAM MEET - Evidence Puts Him At Kansas Parley

EXCERPT:

Earlier in the week, some aides to Mr. Kerry suggested that because he appeared on a PBS “Firing Line” broadcast with William F. Buckley on November 14, 1971, Mr. Kerry could not have attended the Kansas City gathering. But that contention also disintegrated yesterday on closer examination.

Tapes of the “Firing Line” television program are housed at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University. An archivist there, Carol Leadenham, told the Sun that Mr. Kerry and Mr. Buckley taped a program on November 2, 1971. No air date was noted, but Ms. Leadenham said it is likely that it aired about two weeks later.

“That’s about the usual time between the taping and the air date,” she said.

Proud to say that I posted the original NY Sun article at FR.

Yes, you did. What a find. News is news and I am a big believer in chips falling where they may.

I've been arguing the last two days against some of the "this is coming out too soon" camp arguments. Facts are facts and need to be dealt with and not coyly played games with.

That Firing Line program was taped a week before it was shown.

This:

KERRY RETREATS FROM HIS DENIAL ON VIETNAM MEET - Evidence Puts Him At Kansas Parley

brings to mind something like this:

Kerry's run for the WH is listing, taking on water, springing leaks, slowly sinking.

But, but, but, if his boat sinks too soon, than Hillary can't come in at the last minute and "save the party"!

The Knight Ridder story says the Kerry campaign was confronted with FBI files. Are they from the files that our old friend Mr. Livingstone was accumulating for the Clinton's? Or are there any legal ways to get your hands on an FBI file?

A man named Nicosia wrote a book several years ago and he submitted a Freedom of Information request and received the redacted FBI files. Though evidently he didn't receive them until the book was basically completed (2001) and really review them until recently.

He is a Kerry supporter, BTW, and was "puzzled" why Kerry was lying about attending the KC event (none so blind...).

They can't NOT run it if everything is backed up by evidence, and it sure is trickling out. How can anyone with a conscience let go a nominee who plotted to kill Senators?? Even to participate in a vote is definitely IN ON THE PLOT. Even your average American as seen on Jay Leno's Jaywalking could figure out that that is WRONG, DEAD WRONG.

WABC sweeps 2004 Industry Achievement Awards

After winning the award for NewsTalk station of the year in 2003,  how could WABC top that?   Apparently,  we could in this year's 2004 R and R Industry Achievement Awards held at Washington D.C's Rennaissance Hotel on February 28th.  WABC won 4 of the five awards given. The annual awards were presented by the prestigious Radio and Records Magazine.

Local Talk Hosts of the Year:  WABC's Curtis and Kuby.  WABC's morning duo for the last 4 years is finally getting the national recognition they deserve.  Curtis and Kuby were nominated in this category last year,  and were also nominated by the NAB for a Marconi last year.  This is the first national award this team has won.   Curtis and Kuby took over morning drive time on WABC in May of 2000.  Curtis Sliwa once hosted WABC's morning show before in the early 90's when it was then Curtis and Lisa.   Ron Kuby joined with Curtis in 1996 when the station decided the left wing lawyer was a perfect fit for the conservative leaning vigilante Curtis.  You can hear the show monday thru friday,  5am to 10am.

National Talk Host of the Year:  Sean Hannity.   This was the second year in a row that Sean has won this award,  and comes on the heels of the Marconi award Sean won in October, 2003 from the National Association of Broadcasters in Philadelphia.  Sean has taken the talkradio world by storm in the last few years,  becoming the fastest growing syndicated host in history.  He is now the second most listened to national radio talk host,  behind only Rush Limbaugh,  and is heard every weekday afternoon,  3 to 6pm on WABC.

Program Director of the Year:  Phil Boyce.  Phil has been nominated in this category each of the last four years,  but this is his first victory.  Phil has programmed WABC since April of 1995.  As Program Director Phil has brought most of the current talk show hosts to the station,  including Curtis and Kuby,  Sean Hannity,  John Gambling,  Mark Levin and Laura Ingraham.

General Manager of the Year:  Tim McCarthy.  Tim has managed WABC since 1998,  and has worked for WABC since 1993.  Tim has worked hard to turn WABC into the strong successful talk station it is today.  He is a big believer in the format,  and in how important News and Talk radio is to general population.  Tim is a local area native,  growing up in Pearl River, New York,  and is the son of an NYPD police officer.

News/Talk Executive of the Year:  Traug Keller.  Traug Keller is President of the ABC Radio Network.  In that capacity,  Traug supervises the Sean Hannity network,  and also that of the John Batchelor Show,  and countless other shows offered by the ABC Radio Network.  Traugh also supervises the outstanding efforts of ABC Radio Network News,  the largest radio news organization of it's kind which can be heard at the top of every hour on WABC.
