Tonight is the one-year anniversary of the commencement of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Where are all the Sit Room regulars?! I thought it might be a good idea to resurrect the Situation Room for a "reunion". Does anyone still have a ping list?
I just walked by the TV and they were showing that camera on ACHMED's PARKING GARAGE! (Alas, no Achmed). No hammering could be heard at the time. I haven't seen any "traffic circle" shots yet, but they'll have to show them eventually.
But PRETTY CHICKEN was one of the correspondents recalling where he was that night (under his bed)!

Yes, there were two cartoons, IIRC. The "Hi, mom!" one and the bunny ears one.

Oh gee........so sad,so very sad;both were such good guys.
RIP Bloom and Kelly and may GOD give their grieving families peace.

Yes, David Bloom, God rest his soul. Up until that time, I had thought he was just another smarmy liberal, out for a story. Then, his brave reporting, and his death. I saw on TV the soldiers must have respected him a lot, because they gave him a memorial service, complete with a rifle stuck in the sand, with his helmet on top. Leaned up against the rifle was David's copy of a book, "My Utmost for His Highest". :(
Tears.

Actually, one year ago tonight, we thought the name was Operation Iraqi Liberty, or OIL. We thought the Bushies were sticking it to the fussy MediaCrats. I still wish they'd used it.

I had about chemical attack on our soldiers I'll never forget the horror I experienced one night. I had fallen asleep with FOX news on and hubby was out of town. I woke up to sirens and a commotion on the television. The TV said the sirens were a chemical attack warning. A soldier was gasping for breath and trying to get into his gear. His breathing was terrible. It kept getting faster and faster. He slumped below the sight of the camera. It was horrid. I was watching a soldier being gassed to death on television. Another soldier popped in and out of the scene. It was Ollie North. He was excited and out of shape (compared to the young soldiers). He wasn't dying, he was just old. The attack, as you know, was not chemical. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry from relief when Ollie explained that he needed help getting into the chem suit.

The embedded reporters were the media's finest hours. Wasn't it great? We got the news live, as it was happening, without the media filters. When the embeds were pulled, the news took another drastic left turn.
