Troop Prayer Thread 10 - A Year of VICTORY!
Posted on 03/19/2004 12:51:59 PM PST by TEXOKIE
THREE CHEERS FOR OUR WONDERFUL TROOPS, THEIR ALLIES, AND ALL WHO ARE SERVING IN SUPPORT CAPACITIES IN THE WAR ON TERROR! YOU HAVE GIVEN THIS NATION A YEAR OF VICTORY IN THAT WAR! The honor is yours, but know that we bask in your accomplishments and love you for your steadfast service on this day!
Welcome, everyone to the 10th Troop Prayer Thread! Today is the anniversary of the resumption of hostilities with Iraq, wherein our troops have made military history that shall ring down the centuries.
The troop prayer threads are dedicated to giving our troops, allies, and all who are serving the Holy Cause of Freedom, including (but not limited to) the families and loved ones waiting at home and those who are not in uniform but who are serving in dangerous situations supporting our troops and gathering intelligence spiritual support. We seek together to offer prayer, scriptures, encouraging messages, and other devotions dedicated to this purpose.
We have over the past year gathered together a prayer list of these servants of freedom. You will find it posted below. FReeper amom has been serving as our List Keeper this past year and I wish to thank and commend her for doing such a meticulous job of keeping it updated. She has also been keeping our ping list up to date. If you wish to submit a name for the prayer list or to add or take off a name from the ping list, please let either or both of us know.
For those of us who have somewhat limited computer capacity, or still have phone modems, we request that graphics be limited to pictures of loved ones for whom we are offering prayers, special visuals that seem particularly appropriate, and as much as possible, non-moving graphics. Thank you.
Thank you so much for spiritually supporting our troops, allies, support civilians, and their families.
We are grateful to God that for those who have been injured or taken back Home, He has dispatched angels to their care.

Dear Lord,
Lest I continue
My complacent way
Help me remember
Somewhere out there
A man died for me today
--As long as there be war
I then must
Ask and answer
Am I worth dying for?"
Taken from the book, "A Man Called Intrepid" by William Stevenson about William Stephenson, the head of British intelligence services prior to and during WWII. He wrote this at the very beginnings of the Battle of Britain and shared it with Eleanor Roosevelt.
STAR SPANGELED BANNER
Oh, say, can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hail'd at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, thro' the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watch'd, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof thro' the night that our flag was still there.
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
On the shore dimly seen thro' the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected, now shines on the stream:
'T is the star-spangled banner: O, long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion
A home and a country should leave us no more?
Their blood has wash'd out their foul footsteps' pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
O, thus be it ever when freemen shall stand,
Between their lov'd homes and the war's desolation;
Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the heav'n-rescued land
Praise the Pow'r that hath made and preserv'd us as a nation!
Then conquer we must, when our cause is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust"
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

MERCIFUL FATHER ABOVE,
We gather together this day to remember and celebrate with joy and thankfulness the ones who have been on the field of battle this past year. The troops marching in the name of Liberation and Freedom have had some mighty Victories in that time. We ask that you will take our gratitude and burn it into our hearts so that we may never forget what these valiant young heroes have done. Let them understand and know in their hearts that we do honor them for their sacrifices and their service.
Father, we remember this day the ones who gave all. They placed themselves "between their loved homes and the war's desolation." They are not returning to their families, but have instead returned to the greater Home to which we all aspire one day. We remember this day their families who are left with a hole in the fabric of their lives. We ask that these who grieve will be comforted and healed. Let them experience as well in the quiet parts of their souls the resounding gratitude we feel toward them.
We remember this day those who have been wounded in body, mind, soul, or spirit. Father, we ask that you will surround them with your healing angels. Bring them to the greatest measure of peace and healing that is possible to them. Grant their families and friends who surround and love them with the gifts of infinite understanding, patience, and love. Let the strengths of these families be multiplied, and let the weaknesses be healed or supplied by your grace.
We remember this day the ones who are yet on the battlefield in the various fronts in the War on Terror. Protect with Heavenly Armor those who are in danger. While we have had a victorious year, we know that the job is not yet finished. Let the past year's victories be the inspiration in difficult times to continue the fight. Let the victories won by your grace be sealed and burned on the inward parts of not only our troops, but also in our leaders and especially our people. Let our people be brought to a rapt attention, awareness, and rememberance at the appropriate time in November when it is the time to choose the course of action our country will take. Guide our people, and help them to have clarity of Vision. Guide us and direct each one who goes to the voting booth. We petition you in the most urgent means possible for you to take command of our nation and of her electoral process. Take command of the 3 branches of government. Bring us into alignment with the Plan and Will you have for this nation which was from its infancy ordained to be a nation dedicated to trust in you, God, our Father.
"Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the heav'n-rescued land
Praise the Pow'r that hath made and preserv'd us as a nation!
Then conquer we must, when our cause is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust"
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
Father, let this be a day of rejoicing, but above all,let it be a day of Hope. We hope for our own nation, but our hopes are renewed when we see the pictures of the little girls in Afghanistan and Iraq who can now go to school. We see hope in the faces of old men and women who know that the thugs of Saddam Hussein will no longer come and drag their loved ones away. We see hope the faces of young vigorous men who are busy thinking of ways to use their new freedoms to pursue their capitalist dreams. We see hope in the faces of those who have suffered under religious persecution who can now worship in the way they have been denied from doing for too long. We are grateful for this Hope and we ask that it be nurtured and expanded throughout the earth, according to thine own Will and Timing.
Father, accept our gratitude, and praise in the name of the One Sent. Let our prayers be made perfect in accordance to thy Will.
Amen

This is beautiful. God bless them keep them in His hands.
From as far as ends of corners of the world people earn for freedom and dignity. These boys and girls fight for that dignity and values cherished by all of us. These fine soldiers went through boot camp to battle field while we stay safe in our homes and go to work. These fine young people in uniforms should be our aspiration of dignity of human life and always for us to remember -- there is no negotiation with terrorist who hate anything that has to do with true value of life. Terrorist chose death and these young fine man and women have no problem kicking their sorry behind. God keep all coalition soldiers in your heart! USA and Polish mega prayer bump.

Thank you for the heartfelt prayer. And we continue to thank the Lord for this country, for our President, and for our brave young men and women, those who made it home, those who did not, and those whose lives are changed forever due to injuries sustained in the war.
We pray for steadfastness for America and her people, and for those in other countries to wake up from their slumber and recognize the Glory of the Lord and needs of the moment that will not go away by burying their heads in a false sense of comfort.

TEXOKIE, how wonderful to see all the Troops listed who are safely home!! For them, our prayers were answered. My prayers continue for all the Troops still deployed.
Potlatch-son safely back home after 10 months and managing to go around the typhoon and got home to Texas.
I thank you for remembering my son in your prayers, but he was not in the Military. He was working and traveling overseas during both the war in Afganistan and the war in Iraq, and I feared for his safety.
