Sorry, I saw the nun outfit she was wearing - insignificant. I don't see the idolatry that one would expect to see if it were centered on Mary ala the Pope's
blasphemous prayers that I've heard quoted. This centers on Christ. Rome should be glad Mel didn't present their doctrine of the Eucharist in all it's splendor. He'd have gone broke.

When the pope puts his soul in Mary's hands and beseaches her to secure for him his salvation. That's blasphemy. It makes a point. This is not the type of thing that made it into Mel's movie. So I think it goes overboard to say it's "too catholic". I was actually bracing myself to see that sort of thing show up. I'm glad it did not or I'd have asked for my money back.

It really disgusts me that you would delibrately misquote the Pope to make your pathetic anti-Catholicism work. I had know idea that your obsession was this pronounced. The actual prayer actually goes like this:
Enable all to meet Christ, the Way and the Truth and the Life. Sustain us, O Virgin Mary, on our journey of faith and obtain for us the grace of eternal salvation. O clement, O loving, O sweet Mother of God and our Mother, Mary!
You left the bolded part out because it destroys the point you were trying to make. That part of the prayer is the Pope's appeal to the Blessed Mother to help us know Christ better. As you may or may not know. The part you omitted is, of course, a direct referrence to John 14:6
"Jesus answered, 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'"
I am all to happy to expose you for the cheap charlatan that you are. You tellingly did not provide a link. The Pope's prayer, in its entirety, is here. You will be a much healthier person when you give up your irrational crusade against the RCC and focus on the things that are truely important.

Presidio9 (#226): Where did you "hear" this prayer with the crucial words left out? I provided a link. I suspect you either found it in anti-Catholic literature, so obsessed with discrediting the Pope that it would, in effect, stoop to the level of planting evidence. If you heard it coming from the mouth of a priest, either he made a mistake, or (more likely IMOHO) your need to attack the Pope led you to develop a selective hearing disorder.
In any case, I have thoughtfully provided a link to the actual words of the prayer. The John 14:6 referrence explains what he is saying quite efficiently.
Think about it for a second. John Paul II is a brilliant man. You would conceed this point, I expect? Popes have been dealing with the same tired accusation that you just made for centuries. Protestants have trouble understanding Mary's Special Role in Catholic Tradition, so they assume that in consititutes worship. It doesn't, but that's beside the point. Why would the Pope, of all people, add fuel to the fire by making such a blatant mistake? He wouldn't.
As a Christian, I am going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you did not intentionally change the quote to suit your argument. It's beside the point. You're still wrong.
