Maybe we should wait a few months before we force the media to report the story.

"I hate to disabuse everybody, but this is a non-starter. He was present at the meeting, he spoke and voted against it, then resigned. It spins as "Kerry, man of principle"."

You're right -- much as I hate to say it.

Too soon for this news to come out! All it will do is put Clark on the ticket to deflect the issue.

Would have been better if it surfaced after the Demwits convention.

Isn't a meeting of two or more people to discuss assassinating US Senators called conspiracy to commit murder?Just having a discussion and a vote sure sounds like that. Or as Ketchup boy would say, I first voted to assassinate the senators, then I voted against it.

Now, now fellows, if Kerry were a Republican this assasination hoopla might be somewhat serious. But Kerry is a Democrat, a sorta liberal type democrat. He's from Massachusetts, you know. He's an Irish-Catholic man of the people, just like the rest of the Kennedys. Has been for years.

You see, the Democrats in general are on fire with love for us, the little people. They only want what's best for us. Of course, when good Democrat people are on fire with love in a righteous cause, like abandoning the field and leaving an ally to be conquered by the communists, who are good too, we must acknowledge that. Other people who disagree are bad people. They are not Democrats, or even not-good-enough-Democrats, and with all that righteous love-fire around, they are gonna get at least a little singed, or killed maybe. Sorta like the good Bolsheviks killing the nasty old bad Czar, the bad Czarina, and the evil little czardines. Can't be helped. "Times, they are a-changin'." Get in the way, you die.

The fact that you hold this minor matter against Kerry proves to me that you are both members of a vast right-wing conspiracy. After all, he says he quit this organization. The FBI says otherwise. Now who you gonna believe? The good Kerry, or some bad FBI guy whose leader was J.Edgar Hoover, who was so bad he never even admitted he coulda been gay.

You say Kerry, who I may have forgotten to mention was a wounded VN war hero, should have called the FBI and reported this plot to kill senators? That is really stupid. Good people don't call bad people. Honestly, you Republicans are just hopeless.

Kerry Retreats

This cannot be true. John Kerry never retreats.

Never falls down, either.;-)

You know, at least he quit when the group advocated the assination attempts. I don't like Kerry one bit and don't know why he lied about this, but he deserves credit for at least refusing to go along with this idea.

That said, a more serious question would be whether he ever did anything to call the authorities' attention to the plot or plotters? Just because you walk out of a meeting of loonies or wash your hands of their lunacy does not mean you have done your best to protect people from them. In fact, if all the people who opposed the idea quit, wouldn't that have left the majority to pursue their plan?

Bush in 1971 may have missed a few weekends of National Guard service, but made them up later = Media Firestorm.

Kerry in 1971 was leading an an organization plotting the assassination of Senators, and in 2004 is caught trying to cover it up = News Blackout.

In a close election, just how valuable is it to have the Media as cheerleaders? 50-60 electoral votes?

Is there any statute of limitations on conspiracy to commit murder?

Besides, those were the actions of an "angry young man," etc. etc.

An angry young man who became a cynical old gigolo who flip-flops daily but never recants.

If Kerry and his drones thought this made him look good, they wouldn't be talking in circles claiming he wasn't there.

Metrosexual Man!

[looks like CNN didn't get the 'no foreign leaders support' talkingpointsmemo. Their ticker still says 'Kerry said some foreign leaders want Bush defeated.' Kerry needs to get his team and media all on the same page. (snicker)]

Mr. Nicosia generally declined to speculate on why Mr. Kerry had denied being present. However, the author did observe, “Especially if you’re running for president, you don’t want to be associated with a plot for assassinating people.”

That has got to be the biggest DUH statement this week.

resigned for "personal reasons" does not say he resigned due to any disagreement with the assassination plot either.

He kept speaking for VVAW despite his supposed disgust as well.

Did Kerry report these plots to the authorities? Was he an Agent himself? Why would assassination plotters feel comfortable talking about killing Govt. officials in front of him?

These are all questions that need to be asked.
