"If this is true then Kerry will be forced to end his presidential bid."

I think you meant to reply to Jim_Curtis. At any rate, this will test the ability of the media to "spin and ignore" for Democratic candidates.

This poses problems, as even if the motion was voted down, the conversation of multiple persons debating whether or not to assassinate US Senators is conspiracy and treason. Mr Kerry, unless he called the FBI or Secret Service is guilty by omission of action.
US citizens have a duty to report this activity, and his simple omission of this duty is grounds for prison time. I am sure he is aware of how serious this is. Sure, we were all young and idealistic at one time, but serious consideration being paid to the assassination of US representatives is a seriously big deal. I am glad that he disagreed with it, but disappointed that he didn't go to the police. I would have assumed that if I had to leave the group because of extremism, that by my absence, extremism of the group would increase.
That's just common sense.

But he did resign as a National Coordinator if not from the organization as a whole. (Snort!)

A historian and expert on activism against the Vietnam War, Gerald Nicosia, provided the Sun yesterday with minutes of the meeting.

Mr. Nicosia also read quotes from FBI surveillance documents he obtained under the Freedom of Information Act as he was preparing his 2001 book, “Home to War.”

“My evidence is incontrovertible. He was there,” Mr. Nicosia said in an interview yesterday. “There’s no way that five or six agents saw his ghost there,” said the historian, who lives in Marin County, north of San Francisco.

Mr. Nicosia said that the records show Mr. Kerry resigned from the group on the third day of the meeting, following discussion of the assassination plan and an argument between Mr. Kerry and another VVAW national coordinator, Al Hubbard.

< -snip- >

According to Mr. Nicosia, the FBI documents and other records do not include any direct reference to the assassination plot. However, Mr. Nicosia said some informants who attended the Kansas City meeting warned the FBI of a “drastic move toward more violent actions.”

"Yes, I was at those meetings. But, I reject the assertion that I talked with a Vietnam veteran named Hubbard about the murder of US Senators. We discussed assassinations, sure....but Hubbard NEVER WAS A VIETNAM VET!! Just more lies from the right-wing attack machine!"

Thanks.

Do a search on Google News to see where this story is being reported. There are *no* major media articles about it---even though Kerry's campaign has now confirmed he *was* present at this meeting. What can we do to get this news out to the media? Granted, the media will cover for him. But, this story will be poison with the 41% of the public that doesn't know anything about John Kerry.

“John Kerry had no personal recollection of this meeting 33 years ago,”

I was never there, but after that, I was there, and I also do not recall any of it. I would not recall if there were a criminal plan to kill U.S. Senators. But I remember I voted against it.

“If there are valid FBI surveillance reports from credible sources that place some of those disagreements in Kansas City, we accept that historical footnote in the account of his work to end the difficult and divisive war,” the statement said.

If I am caught having been at that meeting and discussing killing senators, then it was not my fault because the war was evil.

Participants say the plot was voted down, and several say they remember Mr. Kerry speaking and voting against it.

Well, well, democracy in action. Would he like it much if we took another vote on that, today???

Earlier in the week, some aides to Mr. Kerry suggested that because he appeared on a PBS “Firing Line” broadcast with William F. Buckley on November 14, 1971, Mr. Kerry could not have attended the Kansas City gathering...Carol Leadenham, told the Sun that Mr. Kerry and Mr. Buckley taped a program on November 2, 1971. No air date was noted, but Ms. Leadenham said it is likely that it aired about two weeks later.

Kerry, Kerry, Kerry. Haven't you learned? The coverup is always worse than the crime. A tangled web, indeed.

Last week, Mr. Kerry said he last saw Mr. Hubbard in April 1971,

This is the 4th lie you have told on this subject. I am not sure you know what the meaning of "is" is.

G-d help the American people if this man is still considered presidential material.

"my initial reaction is thank God that the prisoners are coming home

What a liar. Kerry made a speech the year before criticizing Nixon for trying to bring the POWs home.

My response has something to do with fixating on dental record of 30 years ago.

Which is why Qairi told McAwful to cool it on the National Guard thing.

Because the guy who proposed the plot has just been presented as a possible addition to the Kerry campaign.

If he knew the guy wanted to assassinate Senators once upon a time, what does it say of his judgement that he now wants to make him a part of his presidential campaign.

Reading from an FBI informant report, Mr. Nicosia said, “John Kerry at a national Vietnam Veterans Against the War meeting appeared and announced to those present that he resigned for personal reasons but said he would be able to speak for VVAW” at future events.

Not a terribly strenuous objection to a murder plot.

but serious consideration being paid to the assassination of US representatives is a seriously big deal.

Let's not forget that one of the targets later had an unfortunate fatal accident, and that Qairi's current wife was married to a senator who met with an identical fatal accident at the same time.
