Goodness! I wonder who would do such a thing. Abu Sayyaf (sp)? (I mean the Filipino terrorist guys.) Weird, weird, weird. Hope he's okay.

Associated Press -
Reports: Taiwanese president reported injured while campaigning
TAIPEI, Taiwan - The Taiwanese president's motorcade made an emergency stop Friday at a hospital in southern Taiwan, and local media reported that he might have been injured by celebratory fireworks or by a possible attack.
The Presidential Office said that it did not have enough information to discuss the incident.
TVBS cable news showed the vehicle that President Chen Shui-bian was riding in parked outside a hospital in the southern city of Tainan, where Chen had been cruising the streets for votes ahead of Saturday's election.

I hope he is OK. yahoo newswires say he was shot in stomach.
I still have some campaign swag from his initial run...a tie and a keychain.
It wouldn't be hard to get a gun into Taiwan though. Death penalty if you're caught with it. but my cousin did fire guns in school in Taiwan. they were OLD japanese rifles from occupation/WWII

CNN will probably go live on CNNI in a little while. It's morning in Europe, and they need to cover the story. But until then, the US is in the dark but for the internet.
