[history]
A professor who claimed she was targeted in a hate crime that stirred student protests at the Claremont colleges is suspected of staging the vandalism herself, police said Wednesday.
Kerri F. Dunn's car was vandalized and covered with racist, anti-Semitic and sexist epithets on March 9, leading faculty to cancel classes and students to stage rallies the following day.

Come on down! We're over here too.

Initially, the FBI was brought in because the crime had implications for federal hate crimes. Wish I knew all the answers to your questions. I only know she fibbed to the local police. I don't know what went on between her and the FBI, although my guess is that they interviewed her and possibly got a written statement too. If so, then she definitely obstructed a federal investigation and should be charged with that. We'll probably know within the next few weeks.

She drove that thing around?
NO wonder she destroyed it, she wanted a twofer. She could further her rotten agenda AND get insurance to pay for the car.
This prof is a real loser!

The LA Times sent out three reporters to cover this car trashing story when it broke last week. I'm just waiting to see how many reporters they send out to report it was all a fake. Answer: one at most, and there's a good possibly they may send out none at all. If they do run a story it will probably quote police officials as saying that the chances of finding and convicting the people who committed the hate crime on Professor Dunn's car have been diminished by "certain" inconsistencies in the case. They'll do anything but openly admit that Dunn may have done it herself. Or else they'll find some college offical to say that Dunn's self-trashing "only goes to show how confused someone can become when she's face with a hate crime."

Like I said, I'm sure she had another car at home.

a 5-figure reward,
That reward SHOULD be paid/split among those who fingered her...then force her to reimburse it to those who raised the money.
After all, the reward was for fingering whoever had committed the crime; she (allegedly)did, so that qualifies in my book, if they get a conviction.
In addition to filing BOTH the 'false police report' AND hate crimes charges.

Oh, absolutely. Those two witnesses definitely should get the reward.
This thing hasn't finished playing out yet. Her worst problem could turn out to be a civil action against her. She created a very dangerous atmosphere. IMO, she incited to riot.
To: Bonaparte
Yes, but we both know it won't happen that way. She took one for the team and now her future in academia is assured.
Oh, you mean like Professor Angela Davis, of U.C. Berkeley?

Now there's an even better example. Thankyou, AGR.

BTW, I think Davis is still at
UC Santa Cruz. Not much difference. They're all a bunch of commies there too.

Now that you mention it, I do believe she did opt for an ocean view.
Looking at Berkeley & Oakland can be SO depressing, while having to gaze longingly across the Bay, toward Paradise Lost.
Remembering when your campus was the envy of all the wannabees at USF & SF-State.
Knowing that the REAL action was just down the coast, at CSSC, with all those Socially Conscious minds, just waiting to molded and regimented into The Cause...

Staff writers Monte Morin, Lance Pugmire, Arlene Martinez, Andrew Blankstein, Richard Winton and Seema Mehta contributed to this report.

Too bad it's the LA Times. I'd love to read the article that took nine people to write...

But it's not a hard stretch for these liberals to pretend to be their enemies and make up stuff. Many of us predicted this would happen to justify the liberals' smears on The Passion. Critics of the film were darkly intoning that the movie would cause anti-semitic attacks. When that didn't happen, it looks like at least one lib decided to create the hate crime herself.

To the blackshirted (neat image, you dumb putzes) "students" who indulged themselves in a week of liberal temper tantrums in response to Prof. Dunn's Reichstag stunt by marching through the streets SA style and chanting "Ignorance has got to go":
Yes, ignorance has got to go, especially on college campuses. Now go back to your rooms and STUDY.

There is NO evidence to suggest the professor committed this crime except for secret testimony from anonymous people who think they saw her. We're ain't talking O.J. Simpson-caliber culpability here. FReepers are clear-thinking conservatives, not knee-jerk leftwingers. I would think we would give her due process. Here's why her story is fishy, even before the recent allegations:
1. How did the alleged attacker know which one was the professor's car?
2. The car was discovered vandalized just after the owner happened to be giving a speech about hate speech. Mighty big coincidence.
3. The car had, among other things, the word "kike" on it. As someone else pointed out, that word hasn't been a popular slur in a long time -- it's up there with "dago" and "wop" as the type of words Archie Bunker used to use 30+ years ago. It's not a current slur.
4. I notice that whenever there's a fake hate crime, it's something involving words -- somebody gets something written on themselves, or some offensive words are written on property. When real "hate" crimes, like those committed against Matthew Shephard and James Byrd, were committed, the perps didn't waste any time writing slurs on their victims -- they just tortured and killed them!

Thanks.
To: calcowgirl
Thanks for the LA Times link. Pretty much everything freepers predicted would happen now has happened -- Dunn is lawyered up, her defenders are saying that even if this case was fake, racism is still a big problem, blah blah blah.
To: NYCVirago
She had also reported property missing from the car (CD player, briefase, etc) to the tune of $1700, and then later said the items had "turned up" after all.
