"More Than $2 Trillion!!"
(To be sung to Boston's "More Than a Feeling")

The LeftWing's in mourning 'cuz SlickWillie's gone...
RATS have no future...with Jean Kerry!!
Right votes fer Strength, not like Spain Done Wrong...
Still, our liberties are stripped away-ay-ay-ay!!

The RightWing needs FReepin'...(more than $2 Trillion!!)
When we hear Big Guv'ment's been holdin' sway (more than $2 Trillion!!)
RightWing needs FReepers (almost $3 Trillion!!)
'Til we see Big Guv'ment melt away...
We'll see our Liberties fadin' away!!

So many FReepers have come and gone...
Their mem'ry fades as the years go by.
Yet I still recall list'nin' ta Limbaugh...
Each year when we vote, Fed budget's too hi-i-igh!!

The RightWing needs FReepin'...(more than $2 Trillion!!)
Folks, I've heard Dem ol' excuses still today (more than $2 Trillion!!)
RightWing needs FReepin' (almost $3 Trillion!!)
'Til we see Big Guv'ment melt away...
High time that Conservatives win the day!!

(Guitar jammin' interlude)

When I'm tired and feelin' old...
I think about Reagan, who saved the day!!
And dream of the men who used to know...
If we close our eyes, FReedom'll slip away!!
DemRATS must pay!! Right must hold sway!!

The LeftWing is reelin'!! (more than $2 Trillion!!)
Folks, we've heard RAT's ol' songs they always play... (more than $2 Trillion!!)
The RightWing needs FReepin'...(almost $3 Trillion!!)
'Till we see KerryMan slink away...
We Shan't Let Slick Willie Git Away !!

"The Needle and the Damage Done"
(by Neil Young)

I caught you knockin'
at my cellar door
I love you, baby,
can I have some more
Ooh, ooh, the damage done.

I hit the city and
I lost my band
I watched the needle
take another man
Gone, gone, the damage done.

I sing the song
because I love the man
I know that some
of you don't understand
Milk-blood
to keep from running out.

I've seen the needle
and the damage done
A little part of it in everyone
But every junkie's
like a settin' sun.

I thought y'all might appreciate this story I wrote for one of the military boards I frequent. I can tell you it was the most moving day I have had ever...and a GREAT day at the ballgame (like any day at a baseball game is bad!)

4th ID Honored as 2004 Heroes by Texas Rangers
story by cherrybomb88

When I awoke this morning, I was filled with anticipation – today was opening day for the Texas Rangers, they were playing my hometown Angels and I was going to the game. Not only was I going to the game, but I was going in style—my work had reserved a suite with unlimited food and drink. It was an absolutely beautiful day for a ballgame.

We all arrived at the stadium an hour before the game was to start. Opening day at the Rangers game is filled with festivities. We also wanted time to bask in our temporary life of luxury. During the pre-game events the announcer stated that immediately following the singing of our national anthem by Cross Canadian Ragweed, there would be a fly over by a B1-bomber. I was ecstatic—the thought of seeing a B1 up close was awe-inspiring. Like an excited little schoolgirl, I ran to my cell phone and emailed my sweetie. A B1!!! I was “living large” today, borrowing an expression from my teenage daughters.

When the time came for the presenting of our flags, the stadium arose to their feet. A sense of pride washed over me as I watched the Navy and Marines in uniform presenting over a dozen American flags.

What happened next caused a wave of pride and emotions to wash over me. Two lines of troops in desert BDUs marched out onto the field. Then the announcer came on “Ladies and Gentleman, we are honored to have with us today 70 members of the 4th ID out of Ft. Hood Texas….” the announcer had to pause the applause, cheering, and whistling was so loud…”these troops were part of Operation Iron Horse and were present at the capture of Saddam Hussein…” again he had to pause. The applause and screaming cheers of the over 50,000 in attendance shook the stadium, “These troops on the field before you were sent to Iraq last April and just recently returned home after a successful mission,” again the applause rumbled through the stadium, “This year, the Texas Rangers are pleased to announce that they have selected the 4th ID as the 2004 Rangers Heroes.” The roar of the applause was almost deafening and I felt a shiver as goose bumps covered my body and I had to choke back tears. I looked around, the whole stadium appeared to be filled with the same emotions I was feeling. The announcer proceeded to tell about the operations and the troops before us. They represented 33 Purple Heart recipients. They were also representative of thousands of troops that took part in Operation Iron Horse. The only time the applause ceased momentarily was when the voice over the P.A. said “The 4th ID lost 79 members in Iraq during the last year.”

The troops stood tall and proud in perfect formation, making a v-shape from 1st base to 2nd base and then again from 2nd base to 3rd base, their Colonel standing on the pitcher’s mound facing them proudly.

They stood there through the national anthem, and then the B-1 bomber flew over and shook the stadium. As it completed its fly-over, they released thousands of yellow and white balloons above an American Flag.

The most moving thing was what happened next, the entire stadium stayed on their feet, applause not ceasing, even after the flags were off the field, until the last 4th ID troop marched out of the stadium.

I have never witnessed anything quite so moving and the rest of the game was anticlimactic. Or was it? During the 7th inning I received an important business call on my cell phone that I’d been waiting on. I went down to the smoking area below our suite to tell my bosses that I had solved a potentially large problem. Two young men walked by from the 4th ID. I was proud of my salesmen, everyone smiled, waved, and shouted “good jobs” and a couple walked up and shook their hands. I felt sheepish, but I walked up and said “could you please wait here while I run upstairs and get my camera, I’d really like to have my picture taken with you?” They laughed. They couldn’t have been more than 20 years old. I thought to myself as I ran up the stairs how much they must have seen at such a young age and how strange it must seem to them that strangers were walking up to them shaking their hands and wanting their pictures taken with them. After all, they were only doing their jobs in Iraq. But knowing that they probably had that attitude had me thinking of them as heroes all that much more.

I quickly reappeared with my camera and had a coworker’s wife take a picture. They were carrying the miniature souvenir bats you buy at the ballpark and one of my smart-alec salesmen yelled out “act like you’re hitting her with the bats!” They laughed and I laughed. They were really sweet.

Before they walked away, I told them I’d be posting the pictures I took of that day on trackpads.com if they wanted to download some. They said the name back to make sure they heard it right. I told them we would be honored to have them as part of our site. They smirked. I am sure they felt a little embarrassed by all the attention.

As I walked back up to our suite I smiled myself. I don’t think I could have had a better day at the ballpark.

Great Post, CB_88!! Where is the pic with you and the soldiers?

We have been missing you. Did you make a wager with FBD this year and do you need a wager judge? How was last year's wine? Can any team top the A's this year?? (I think not.)

Thanks...it's good to be missed...just been busy with the new job, work, school and the girls. I have been carrying 9 units this semester in addition to working and the girls stuff. Summer will be lighter, only 6 units, but next year I plan on carrying 12 units both semesters so that I can graduate in August '05. I want to start on my masters right away after that.

As far as a bet this year...after the way my Angels got stomped at that Rangers game, I'm not sure I want to. FBD and I settled the bet...he was kind enough to tell me to buy the wine for myself as a housewarming gift for the big move. (thanks, FBD!)

The 4th Infantry undertook Operation Red Dawn to find Saddam.
They are based in Texas - Fort Hood.

They got their man - captured Saddam. "Don't mess with Texas!":

Thanks for sharing that great story. Go, good guys, go !

"Italy Hails Fallen Hero!!"

"An Italian hostage killed in Iraq was hailed on Thursday as a hero who in his last moments told his kidnappers defiantly: "I'm going to show you how an Italian dies." Fabrizio Quattrocchi, one of four Italian security guards abducted earlier this week, was shot dead on Wednesday after Italy refused to bow to the kidnappers' demands and withdraw some 3,000 troops stationed in Iraq. Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini said a video recording of the killing showed that Quattrocchi was hooded when his kidnappers put a gun to his head. "When the murderers were pointing a pistol at him, this man tried to take off his hood and shouted: 'Now I'm going to show you how an Italian dies'. And they killed him," Frattini said. "He died a hero," he added."

Good luck, my FRiend, that's a very ambitious schedule. Are you working fulltime?! If so, you'd better hope you have some very understanding bosses, 'cuz 9-12 hours per semester don't just happen without some flexibility from yer superiors. Don't be discouraged if yer goals take just a little longer to achieve than you'd like.

Thanks, Mud! Yes, I'm working full time. And yes, my bosses are marvelous. I report directly to the 4 partners of the company and manage two divisions. I've only been there 2 months (a little over) and made a HUGE impression. I hired a new marketing rep Friday to train. All that being said, I'm fortunate that at Dallas Baptist University many of the classes are also offered "on line" for adult students. I can take 99% of my classes on line (which means I'm up to all hours of the night studying, doing homework, reporting into the discussions and a lot of times I"m doing it on my lunch hour as well), there are one or two I'll need to do in the evening or on a Saturday. So far I'm carrying a 3.95 GPA (stupid A-) and I'm set (if I can continue the A's with only like 1 B) to graduate Suma Cum Lade. So, yes, I have very high ambitions! :o) Make no mistake, the on line classes are only easier in the sense of convienence. I have tons of papers to write, reading to do, exams, term papers, etc.

I have made an allowance that I might have to graduate Dec '05 rather than Aug '05 if I can't get some of the classes I need in. Then it's straight on to my Masters.

I'll try not to be such a stranger. ;o)
