I commend and appreciate your balanced reporting of Canadian journalistic opinion. I wonder however, will it generate any play.

Let's find something about Spain to boycott.
Let's ask the British to make Gibraltar a shining example of what the Spanish despise on their doorstep (nuclear weapons, nuclear/chemical dumps, massive military bases).
Take away Spain's most-favored-nation status. Change the visa policy, making it harder for Spanish to visit.
Put an Israeli military base on Gibraltar.

The Spanish shoud expect more attacks from al-qaida, followed by demands to restore the Islamic Caliphate in Spain. After all, if terrorism brings them one victory, why not more?

A brilliant article. Thanks for posting.
There is no ambiguity in what has happened in Spain. The rotten heart of Europe has been exposed. The best comparison one can make is to Europe in 1940, when the entire continent had capitulated to Nazism and fascism, leaving Britain alone to fight. It thus came to be known as "Churchill's war", rather than "Hitler's war", only to revert when the Allies had won it, and a generation of Europeans, who had not lifted a finger, decided retrospectively that they had been in the Resistance.
That is absolutely savage. It wouldn't be if it weren't true.

Terrorists will most likely strike Great Britain since they are our chief ally and support for troops in Iraq has been tepid. England is in grave danger in their coming elections. If the results there are as disastrous as in Spain we will be left with no real allies in Iraq and be the most isolated internationally we have ever been.

Believe me there are plenty of Americans more than willing to do like the Spaniards: stick their heads in the sand, expose their nether regions to the Islamo-fascists, and beg for mercy. A number of my coworkers are far more concerned about the upcoming NCAA b-ball tourney than they are about terrorism. Terrorism is scarcely if ever mentioned. These same people will all be voting for Kerry and appeasement. And there's millions more ignorant Americans just like them who think that 9/11 was a one-shot deal. The ignorati castigate Bush and shun reality at America's peril. Expect a terrorist attack in the U.S. shortly before Nov.2.

The worst part about the elections in Spain is the fact they believe that by removing their troops it will make them safe from the terrorist.
Spain and Europe have neglected to remember how history played that mindset out during the 30's and 40's.

...Speaking before a group of Oklahoma City firefighters, Kerry complained that the Bush administration "doesn't understand the war on terror."
Under a Kerry administration, he said, the fight against terrorism "will involve the military now and then," but it will be "primarily an intelligence-gathering, law enforcement operation."
"It's a great big manhunt," Kerry explained. "[The Bush] administration has translated that legitimate threat into a completely wrongheaded kind of full-fledged military response."
