Blair 'went to war on lies'
Spain's next prime minister has broken from the Iraq alliance today and accused Tony Blair and President Bush of "organising a war on lies."
He pledged to bring Spanish troops home from Iraq by the end of June.
A day after his Socialists swept Spain's ruling conservatives from power in elections overshadowed by the Madrid massacre, Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero harshly criticised the US led war even as he promised to maintain good relations with Washington.
The war "divided more than it united, there were no reasons for it. Time has shown that the arguments for it lacked credibility and the occupation has been managed badly," he said.
US President George Bush and British Prime Minister Tony Blair "will have to engage in reflection and self-criticism," he said in an interview. "You cannot organise a war with lies.
At a press conference he promised to lead a more pro-European government that would restore "magnificent relations" with France and Germany, which unlike Spain's outgoing government both opposed the Iraq war.
Zapatero campaigned on a pledge to order Spain's 1,300 troops home, and made clear today he is prepared to fulfil it.
"I have said clearly in recent months that, unless there is a change in that the United Nations take control and the occupiers give up political control, the Spanish troops will come back, and the limit for their presence there is June 30," Zapatero told a Madrid news conference.
He described Spain's decision to commit peacekeepers to Iraq as "an error."
Outgoing Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar is a close ally of President George Bush, and Zapatero promised to maintain "cordial" relations with Washington.

The new Prime Minister of Spain is the MOUTH THAT ROARED! His country is reeling from a bombing and all he can do is blast Bush and Blair. What a hateful man! Nice to know that the new Prime Minister is spreading his hate around so quickly. Reminds me of Kerry!

If we went to war on lies has yet to be determined (we're still looking in a country the size of California for WMDs), but one things for certain, this idiot now running Spain came to power with the blood of his citizens on his hands.

This was fast.

Spain can expect a lot more from the terrorists.

Military intelligence is an imprecise art and failure to find evidence that may have been destroyed or moved to a third country such as Syria is no proof of "lies".
At 42 years of age, the new Spanish Prime Minister is not only young but is also acting in an extremely immature and naive manner.

Wow you nailed it! He's a leftist scumbag in my book. What possible morality could there be in abandoning Iraq now? Mark my words, this guy is in general sympathy with the terrorists. It sounds to me like he intends to "understand" the basque terrorists too.

He pledged to bring Spanish troops home from Iraq by the end of June. Why wait that long? Screw you and the horse you rode in on.

The Shoemaker's country is no longer named Spain. It is al-Andalus.

Why wait that long? Iraqi government should ask them to leave since Spain's interests are no longer congruent with those of the Iraqi people.

This man is a radical Muslim sympathizer, or a communist or maybe both. This is America's future if Kerry wins. If Bush wins, we'll see what Vincente says about terrorism. I would imagine as long as Americans die and make the world free for Mexico, Vincente will be all for it.

This "lie" stuff in itself is a Goebels "Big Lie". It has gone on so long, that it's taken for granted, because it wasn't countered early.
For the record, neither Bush nor Blair could have "lied" unless they knew Iraq had gotten rid of their WMDs, but said otherwise. I.E. Lied.
This whole "Bush/Blair Lied" crap is equivalent to blaming the Jews for the Germans economic troubles in the 30's. It's just irrational, but people believe it anyway.
