A Code Red for that length of time (as well as around the Pubbie convention; we could have a Code Green around the 'RAT convention) would not be overkill, IMHO.

2. If there was a successful terrorist attack in the U.S. a week or so before the elctions, how would the 15% or so of "wobbly" voters, who basically decide every election, respond? Would they turtle and withdraw into their shells and vote for Kerry or would they pour their support to Bush to show the terrorists that they will not be cowed?

All those 15% (really, closer to 5%) would need to do is stay home. The institutionalized Leftist Fraud will do the rest.

I believe that you are correct that we need to educate and inform the public of just who John Kerry was and is now and not wait until after the GOP Convention. We can't count on Big Media giving any anti-Kerry stories legs in anything less than 2 weeks. Rush Limbaugh et al can help motivate the base with a late election cycle story but the middle of the road moderates will wait until they hear it from Brokjaw, The Affable Eva Braun, Petah, Dan Ratherbiased, Snopes, Jay Leno, and Jon Stewart.

That said, if President Bush were leading Kerry 75% to 25%, Al Qaida and the global socialists might be more compelled to try some kind of "Hail Mohammed" play; something to scare the sheep (or at least scare them away from the polls).

Another big variable in this equation is just how potential terrorism at the 2004 Athens Olympics will affect the political climate. Greece has its' own revolutionaries and Islamofascists used the 1972 Olympics for an opportunity to step on the world's stage.

It's not that we can't get a large turnout that confounds the pundits; remember the day "America threw a temper tantrum"? The Republican Revolution may not have done much to jump start the conservative agenda in Washington but at least it seemed to derail Hillary's health care program and who knows what else.

The question is what happens to the swing states in the midwest. I think the average mid-westerner who has conservative views on foreign policy and economy will stick with the WOT, and see it for what it is, a foreign enemy trying to influence a US vote. I don't think good Americans would take kindly to that (look at the backlash a year ago against France...Freedom Fries, etc.)

Which is why I think the next attack will not be in NYC/DC/LA, but in Chicago, St Louis, the Twin Cities, Milwaukee, or your favorite "flyover" city.

Yes I know that the left has made a lot of noise about the Reichstag fire. When I searched the web to find the proper spelling, someone else had cited it in a discussion of OKC and the surveillance that the President wanted for "National Security".

The left seemed largely quiet about those provisions because the biggest threat, we were told, was from right wing extremists. The kind who listen to talk radio. OKC has been cited by the left and right as the single event that turned around Bill Clinton's first term and carried him to re-election.

I don't say "he knew" but he did exploit the tragedy (and he never stopped campaigning even in the off-election years).

I assure you that if there is another attack, the left will blame it on President Bush. The question is how many minutes after the first report will someone on DU or Indymedia make the charge?

A long list. Off the top of my head, I would also include the first attack on and takeover of our Embassy in Tehran on Feb 14, 1979 killing 4 people(I was there), an attack on our Embassy in Kabul on the same day resulting in the death of Amb Spike Dubs, the attack and burning down of our Embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan in 1979 (one US Marine killed), and the atttack on a Christian church in Islamabad in 2002 killing two US Embassy staff members. With a little time, I could add number of others.

No way will the Islamists lauch a terror attack in Mexico. Mexico was adamantly opposed to the War in Iraq, and was only lukewarm in its support for the WOT after 9/11.
