Since Spain has essentially surrendered in the WOT, these questions MUST be asked:

The terrorists have learned an important new lesson: If you bomb a nation teetering on socialism, you can push them over the edge as people seek the promise of safety instead of taking arms against a sea of troubles, and by opposing end them.

This begs the following questions:

1. Does this lesson increase the likelyhood that terrorists will attack the United States in the weeks immediately before the election in hopes of pulling another victory over democracy like they did in Spain?

2. If there was a successful terrorist attack in the U.S. a week or so before the elctions, how would the 15% or so of "wobbly" voters, who basically decide every election, respond? Would they turtle and withdraw into their shells and vote for Kerry or would they pour their support to Bush to show the terrorists that they will not be cowed?

One thing for sure. I believe that the Spaniards action to pick a PM that will run instead of fight emboldens the terrorists and makes the world and especially the United States less safe.

In time of trouble Americans always seem to pull together. We are strong, brave people.....and will support our President.

......I pray.

It will depend on if the media can spin it that if was had not invaded Iraq, no body would be attacking us. Keep all images of 9/11 off the air and its like its never happened

1. Yes. This is scary.
2. Bush. I believe America is strong enough to make the right choice.

We are already there. Kerry does not want to mention 911, he wants to pretend that it never happened. In many polls, Kerry leads Bush.

And since CFR has paseed SC scrutiny, there is no way for concerned citizens to buy ads to put them on the air.

I hope McCain rots in hell for that.

If you bomb a nation teetering on socialism...

When you put it that way, I have no doubt Al Queda will launch a "Bombing for Kerry" program this coming October.

Y'know, Kerry still hasn't identified the foreign leaders who have endorsed him. I wonder if the names Osama, Saddam, and Yassar are near the top of the list?

Spain's election results were the knee jerk result AlQaedia hoped for....It's a horrible example of how the terrorists "win" when people don't really THINK about what their vote says.

As far as this country, I don't think it would benefit Kerry (if that's the terrorist's candidate) to pull something off just before our elections - unless bin ladin is captured - then I think all bets are off and they'll do something horrible to try and affect our elections and foreign policy.

good post though, exactly what most thinking Americans should be wondering this morning.

A terrorist strike in America before the election would justify police presence at most polling places to prevent attacks there.

On the upside we have an excuse to eleminate Democratic voter fraud and a large percent of the woobly 15% will be too scared to leave the house to vote in my opinion.

Here are my comments on this subject from another thread posted earlier:

My fear is that the Kerry/Major Media campaign of 2004 will convert enough of the WOT fence-walkers to make a repeat of the Spanish scenario in the U.S. look like it is worth a try to the al Qaeda leadership. If they see the election as being close and the anti-war crowd making headway with the American populace with their head-in-the-sand, Rodney King-Neville Chamberlain philosophy then the likelihood of a major terrorist event in the U.S. in late October will be 200%.

Kerry needs to be confronted with this possibility ASAP. Here are a few of the questions that Brit Hume might ask him (no hope that we will get this from the rest of the Major Media).

Senator Kerry:

1. Are you pleased with the outcome of the Spanish elections?

2. Do you see the results of the election as supporting your view that the Bush Administration was wrong to go to war in Iraq?

3. Do you see the Spanish election as a victory for al Qaeda and the terrorists? If not, explain why.

4. Do you think that the impact the al Qaeda attack had on the Spanish election will encourage other acts of terrorism in Europe and in the U.S.?

5. If not, do you think Europe and the U.S. are now safer as a result of the message that the Spanish elections have sent to the world community. If so explain why.

6. Do you think we should end the WOT and negotiate a peaceful settlement with al Qaeda along the lines you successfully advocated for the ending of the Vietnam war?

....and so on.

No doubt. Add Chirac and Kohl(?Germany) to the list.

1. Yes, most definitely

2. You know Al Queda had no love for Spain before the Iraq war. Does anyone seriously think that Spain was safe from terrorism before March of last year? How many Spanish citizens were in the WTC on 9/11? How many were in Bali, or the bank in Turkey? And yet wily politicians turned this completely into a debate about the war and how it made Spain vulnerable. So do I think that our own wily politicians could turn a similar attack into an argument that Bush has not done enough to safeguard us while running off to adventures in Iraq? MOST DEFINITELY YES

My prayers are even more so with the Spaniards now. They have just made a pact with the devil.

These are good questions. I expect every pundit will be debating these issues over the next 7 months. We will have ample opportunity to buck up the wobbly and make our point against appeasement. Spain is so new to democracy and hasn't realized its responsibilities yet. We need to make sure that if (God forbid) we are attacked on our own soil the Dems aren't able to say -- See Bush made us no safer.
Fear is the enemy of freedom and we need to honor the voices who shouted "whatever it takes" while standing amidst the smoking ruins of the World Trade Center, the Petangon and the fields of Pa.

Good Questions; Yesterday I posted my answers in the form of STATEMENTS. Yes, the utter surrender to the Terrorists by the Spanish population will obviously embolden Al Qaeda to attack us sometime right before our election.

....and the American people will NOT be intimidated by the attack as I believe the best in Europe immigrated here long ago.

I would hope that some network (Fox) would simply replay the audio & video from 9/11 as it happened on 9/11/04.

I hear people saying we don't need this war
I say there's some things worth fighting for
What about our freedom and this piece of ground
We didn't get to keep 'em by backing down
Now they say we don't realize the mess we're getting in
Before you start your preaching let me ask you this my friend

Have you forgotten how it felt that day?
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away
Have you forgotten when those towers fell?
We had neighbors still inside going thru a living hell
And you say we shouldn't worry 'bout bin Laden
Have you forgotten?

They took all the footage off my T.V.
Said it's too disturbing for you and me
It'll just breed anger that's what the experts say
If it was up to me I'd show it everyday
Some say this country's just out looking for a fight
Well after 9/11 man I'd have to say that's right

Have you forgotten how it felt that day?
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away
Have you forgotten when those towers fell?
We had neighbors still inside going thru a living hell
And you say we shouldn't worry 'bout bin Laden
Have you forgotten?

Now I've been there with the soldiers
Who've gone away to war
And you can bet that they remember
Just what they're fightin' for

Have you forgotten all the people killed?
Some went down like heros in that Pennsylvania field
Have you forgotten about our Pentagon?
And all the loved ones that we lost and those left to carry on
Don't you tell me not to worry about bin Laden
Have you forgotten?

Have you forgotten how it felt that day?
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away
Have you forgotten when those towers fell?
We had neighbors still inside going thru a living hell
And you say we shouldn't worry 'bout bin Laden
Have you forgotten?

Have you forgotten?

Have you forgotten?

Yes, I feel very bad for them - I know they are suffering horribly from the brutal murder of so many innocent citizens. I do think they will live to regret the choice they made in this election - they are no safer, the essentially bribed the terrorists ----- though I know that's what they hoped for....

We're going to get the answers to both questions for real, in November. Bank on it.

I do know that we would not have voted Bush out three days after 9/11. The rest of that month was the last time we were united as a country.

It took three years of constant chipping and carping to get us to this point, where I look at the liberals surrounding me here, all ready to piss everything away in order to get rid of Bush, and I realize I don't know the answer to your question anymore.

If we follow Spain's lead, we are not doomed, we are damned.
