Teresa: I'll Use Ketchup Cash if Race Turns Ugly
NewsMax ^ | 3/14/04 | Limbacher

Teresa Heinz Kerry is warning that she'll use the vast Heinz ketchup fortune to repel personal attacks by the Bush campaign - insisting for the first time publicly that there are legal ways around the campaign finance laws that could allow her to spend far more than the $2,000 legal limit to get her husband elected.

Asked last week if she had decided to spend "any of your own fortune" on the presidential race, Heinz Kerry initially told National Public Radio's Renee Montagne, "I cannot, by law; $2,000 is it, and I've said that so many times."

But in the next breath the ketchup heiress warned, "Any time the honor of my family or myself is trashed, I will do what any American would try and do, which is to fight to redeem it."

"And there are legal ways of doing that," she insisted.

Heinz Kerry predicted that the Bush campaign would indeed go after her and her family personally, setting off the tripwire that would open up her $700 million pocketbook.

"I'm sure it will get very ugly and personal," she warned. "But I think . . . ugliness speaks for itself, and expensive ugliness speaks for itself even more."

Asked if she was expecting "any particular accusations, any particular vulnerabilities on your part?" Heinz Kerry told NPR, "No."

"[There are] no vulnerabilities on my part. My life's an open book. I'm honest, I work hard, I care about people, and I have hopes for the world and for us, and I think we're not being well-served and well-led."

In 1995, environmental groups were furious with Teresa Heinz for her support of a bill that would allow the sale of dolphin unsafe tuna to the US by Mexico.
The language in the bill allowed Mexican tuna to be labeled dolphin safe, even though Mexico could not guarantee that that dolphins had not been caught and killed in the process.

"The Shameless Seven Ride Again," Village Voice,12/06/95

The Heinz Corp, the world's largest tuna processor, " is to it's credit, resisting pressure from Teresa Heinz and the Clinton White House to support the redefinition of ' dolphin safe'."

"Particular pressure has been applied to Senator John Kerry, a long time supporter of strong dolphin conservation measures."
"Kerry is being urged to sign on the bill by a lobbyist with whom he is particularly intimate ( eeeeewwww!)-his wife,Teresa Heinz, the vice chair of the Environmental Defense Fund's board of directors."

" Teresa Heinz, a ruling class Portuguese woman, who is a sort of green version of Ariana Huffington..."

I don't know if the " dolphin death bill," as it was dubbed by the environmentalists, passed ( it was attached as a rider to the Magnuson Fisheries Conservation and Management Act ) or if Teresa Heinz ( she just started using Kerry last year) was successful in twisting John's ear to get him to vote for the bill.

More examples of the Kerrys as " Flippers." In fact, the theme from Flipper and a chirping dolphin sound should be played at every Kerry campaign stop.

Thanks, I'll check it out.

I found out the truth about McCarthy and commies like FDR and Truman by reading Treason by Ann Coulter - another great book.

Leave it to someone like Terri Kerry to spend her dead husbands money to get her new husband elected. No matter that the dead one was a republican, he's dead, he can't do any more for her.

I have already. Also have sent emails to everyone on my mailing list asking them to boycott heinz products. Be sure to read all labels on all products before you purchase to be sure they are not made by heinz. You would be surprise at the response I have received from people boycotting all their products. I think Teresa, has brought disgrace on her late husband John Heinz & his family

Isn't it true that Arlen Specter recommended that this woman seek the Republican senatorial nomination in PA in 1994 in an effort to block the conservative candidate Rick Santorum?

Wasn't it also true that Specter did not get along with the late H. John Heinz, III, when they were senatorial colleagues? But he now gets along much better with Santorum, whom he originally opposed.

In fact, didn't Arlen Specter lose the 1976 GOP Senate nomination to H. John Heinz, III?

Also, didn't H. John Heinz III die in a commuter air crash on the same day (or one day apart) of the plane crash that took the life of their former Senate colleague John Tower, R-TX?

It's not that hard to boycott Heinz. Hunt's ketchup is about as good, and I haven't seen Heinz pickles in my supermarkets in some time. They are not available everywhere. One dill pickle tastes about the same as another. And off brand vinegar is about the same as Heinz brand.

I seem to have read that teresa divested herself of all Heinz stock, that the foundation she has all her money in no longer is associated with Heinz,,is that wrong?

If Teressa is now claiming she has divested, I bet she simply hid the stock in some kind of trust or something related to her children. Lots of ways to hide.

And disassociating her foundation from Heinz companies is equally meaningless.

More to the point, Teresa and her phony populist husband John Kerry should divest and disassociate themselves from their $500+ million - then I might be impressed.

Thanks for the link. I sent them the following email through their site:

Sirs,

We have been consuming Heinz and Del Monte products for many, many years.

The products have always been high quality and our familiarity with them made them the most likely products to be selected when perusing the many competitor's products available on the supermarket shelf.

It is with great sadness that we must terminate the purchase of all Heinz/Del Monte products, as we can not, in good conscience, support the terrible, and baseless attacks on President Bush, by John Kerry (Heinz).

In addition, the funding by Teresa Heinz (Kerry) (through the Tides Foundation) to fund far left-wing organizations and certain Democratic Party supporters posing as "concerned families of 9-11 victims", who attack the President and his campaign ads, along with her threat to spend the $700 million Heinz fortune in further attacks against the President, force us to ensure that we are not among those providing the funds for these despicable attacks.

We believe that Mr. and Mrs. Kerry (Heinz) have the right to spend their money on whatever pleases them, but we will not support their efforts through the purchase of your products.

We can see no way in which your company can separate itself from these activities, so, with sadness, we close out our long relationship with your company, and will recommend to others that they also choose another companies products.

Sincerely,

(Col & Mrs. Freeper's Names)
