WHERE IS THE MASS MEDIA? SOMETHING IS IN THE WORKS! FREEDOM IS COMING! This Chehar Shanbeh Suri and NoRooz (New Year) is going to be one that lives in History - SUPPORT ALL IRANIAN FREEDOM FIGHTERS - LONG LIVE A FREE IRAN and may THE IRANIAN PEOPLE FIGHT BRAVELY AND SUCCEED!

Ongoing Rebellion in Fereydunkenar! MOST RECENT PHOTOS FROM UPRISING:

The demonstrations began some hours ago. Fereydunkenar is a small town in the northern province of Mazandaran. The people attacked and were able to liberate a building used by the Islamic Republic's security forces (Sentry Post #2). They then started moving to the city of Babolsar, but were soon confronted by Mazandaran's provincial security forces. They've been pushed back into Fereydunkenar and the latest news I've heard is that the small town is now divided between the rebels and the security forces and the scene of fierce street battles.

At least 5 people have been killed and scores injured.

NOTE, THIS UPRISING IS STILL CONTINUING.

Well I finally found this
Riots in north of Iran after vote cancellations

Sunday, March 14, 2004 - ©2004 IranMania.com

TEHRAN, March 14 (AFP) -- Riots erupted in Fereydoon Kenar, northern Iran, after the partial cancellation of votes from the recent parliamentary elections, with protesters plundering the local cleric's house, the Jomhuri Eslami newspaper reported Sunday.

Police fired in the air to disperse Saturday's demonstration and some injuries were reported during the protests over the annulment of votes that could have tipped the result against the sitting conservative member of parliament, the paper said.

People set tyres on fire and blocked a bridge in the center of Fereydoon Kenar, and attacked buildings and public places, the hardline conservative daily added.

According to the newspaper, some "corrupt people" attacked the house of Fereydoon Kenar's Friday prayer leader and plundered it.

The annulled votes were cast in two ballot boxes where people from Babolsar, Band Pay and Fereydoon Kenar voted, Jomhuri Eslami said, adding that they could have favoured reformist candidate Hojatolah Roohi over incumbent conservative MP Meghdad Najafi.

The clashes occurred while the final results of the February 20 elections in this constituency were still to be announced, although religious conservatives have been confirmed as the overall winners of the controversial polls.

Critics said the reformists' control of parliament was broken as a result of the wholesale disqualification of their candidates by a conservative election watchdog, the Guardians Council.

The polling was marred by sporadic violence, with at least seven people killed in southern Iran after violent clashes followed the announcement of results.

No confirmation of the Jomhuri Eslami report was obtainable from independent or parliamentary sources.

When I was in Iran I saw many young people wearing a cross. At first I thought it was just a fashion statement, but my brother-in-law told me that many, many people were converting to Christianity as a repudiation of the regime. And this is happening in a place where it is a capital offense to convert from Islam.

I pray for these brave, brave people. I love the Persian people. They are some of the lovliest people I have ever met and they have a rebellious streak in them (behind closed doors they are rowdy, sensuous and fun-loving). Let's pray that they will no longer have to live double lives and may soon have the freedom they so badly desire and deserve.

SusanTK, I quite concur and the wife and I have been praying for them also. But that they are converting... this is news indeed! Thank you.

I don't know the reason behind the exact time, I'd only be guessing, though your analysis seems logical. Perhaps the difference between 10:30 AM and 10:18 AM reflects Tehran's offset within the time zone.

You see how slanted the AFP story is... It's complete propganda -- Notice they claim that it is because some vote issue and blah blah blah the reformists were banned blah blah blah - It is an ANti-Regime uprising.. Iranians don't give a damn about the votes - they were going to boycott months and months ago anyhow.. Screw AFP - to heck with them!

I can tell you though - in all honesty, the future of Iranian Religion is likely to be one of aversion to Islam although many will still practice.. many will be NON-RELIGIOUS as is the case now and many could possibly go back to the way of Zoroastrianism.. many ZOroastrians will also move back to Iran likely once the mullahs are gone - then they won't be repressed.. Zoroastrianism predates Christianity, Islam and Judaism -- Actually the main relgiions of today got a lot of influence from Zoroastrianism..

Actually, in my earlier post, I figured the Spring Equinox to be 10:20am Tehran time. The 2 minute difference between 10:20 and 10:18 could be based on computational differences or the "definition" of equinox.

Its just a theory, I've observed that when a start time is given for a New Year other than midnight, (say like the Chinese New Year), the start based on an astronomical event (New Moon, solstice, equinox etc).

If you know of any Persian calendar gurus, let me know. I'm always happy to be enlightened on this topic.

Yes Eala, it is quite true. My sister-in-law has a good friend that I met while we were there. She took me aside and showed me a cruxifix that she had hidden in her purse. She asked me to say the Lord's Prayer in English and she said it in Farci. She said she had recently converted and that in all the major cities there were large underground Christian movements. They meet in each other's houses to study the Bible. This lady was so in love with the Lord. When she talked about Jesus her face was glowing. What is happening in Iran is something like the early Christians in Rome- secret, growing and unstoppable.

There is a political angle to this as well. Can you imagine how revolutionary Jesus' words must be to people whose young people are routinely flogged and where women are still stoned to death for adultery? As the Christian woman told me- "Jesus is love, islam is hate". Wow! The mullah's have done more to destroy the people's faith in the religion of their father's than hundred's of missionaries could ever have done.

Correct me if I'm wrong.....but wasn't it Iranian "students" who ousted the Shah, took the Americans hostage, and put the Ayatollahs in control in the first place?

You are so right about Iranian desserts. When we were in Iran, everywhere we went people had the most incredibly delicious cakes and pastries. In fact, the dinner parties people would throw were out of this world. I have never seen such hospitality in all my life. The women of Iran are real artists with food. Not only was it delicious, but they take such care with the presentation. The tables would be laden with several khoreshes(stews), polos(rice dishes with various ingredients), Kouftehs(stuffed meatballs) and dolmehs(stuffed vegetables) along with Sholezard(rice pudding with saffron and almonds) and everything would look like it came out of a magazine. The work required for a single dinner party took days of cooking and preparation and we were invited to parties like these almost every night. Am I making you homesick? I hope you will be able to return home soon for a visit at least, so, that your loved ones can shower you with all the affection that I know they will. Let us pray for a free, prosperous Iran soon.
