Yes, it was just on. I caught the tail end but basically it didn't matter when or if Kerry was there or resigned, the problem is he HAD to have known about the assassination plot on 7 congressmen. They did try to give him a break because it was during the time of Kent State and the vets against the VN war began as a "peaceful" organization, yadda, yadda. A last note was that reporters should get to the bottom of this...

I saw it.
Lipscomb was on and interviewed by Laurie Dhue.
She asked most of the questions we have: Why has the Kerry campaign reached out to someone like Scott Camil? Lipscomb said there are many many former members of the VVAW in the Kerry campaign.
He recapped the basic gist of the story, and they both pointed out the timing was odd as Nixon was in fact taking steps to pull us out so why such drastic measures as assassination seriously discussed? They also discussed the resignation letter that nobody can find.
*****Lipscomb has another story coming out in tomorrow's paper. He said journalists should be looking into this story.

I caught it too. So glad Laurie Dhue covered this amazing story. I hope some of the others on Fox cover it. I'm going to email the show and thank them for covering the story.

Is it just me, or has kerry been eerily quiet these past few days?
To: Trillian
I'd keep quiet too if I'd bad mouthed the majority of the people and was in on the assassination plot of 7 senators. But that's just me.

Setting Straight Kerrys War Record (Admiral Zumwalt on Kerry)

"Admiral Elmo Zumwalt, told me 30 years ago when he was still CNO that during his own command of U.S. naval forces in Vietnam, just prior to his anointment as CNO, young Kerry had created great problems for him and the other top brass,by killing so many non-combatant civilians and going after other non-military targets. We had virtually to straitjacket him to keep him under control,"

LOL!!!
Kerry is hiding!!
Between 3/11 and his denial about this meeting, I'd be surprised to see him come out of his mansion for at least a couple of weeks.
He is done.

If Chris really goes into Kerry's War Record and testimony it means the Clinton's have now launched the attack machine against Kerry and will destroy him before the convention. HILLARY IS IN AND RUNNING. This is typical Clinton tactics. She get the nomination without a bruising primary fight. The same way she did in New York with her "listening tour." While she "listened" she was not a candidate and did not answer questions. The Clinton machine in the meantime "muscled out" any political rivals in the DEMONcrat party.
Prissy Chrissy Mathews pretended to go after the Clintons but always was and always will be a Clintonoid Butt Boy.

The lead on the the show sounded like it was going to be pro-Kerry. Does anyone know what is on the Nixon Tapes? Those guys were nuts back then . I meet a few in Rhode Island. They were always taking about assassinating people and very parniod of the FBI following them. Some of them were stone on hard drugs, herion, all the time. One guy ,whose Dad was a top Democrat, used to complain because his Dad didn't help him out of the draft. Nutty bunch. I am sure the Clinton could have very interesting files on Kerry and friends.

Bump another great find!
To: cyncooper
You bet your behind journalists should be looking into the story, but no doubt very few will.
I will have to see the story tomorrow to see if it provides any more dirt I can research.

You can bet if Hardball is going to do a Kerry/Nixon story, it will be from the angle of brave and principled (choke) anti-war protester standing up for what he believes in and not knuckling under to the Nixon administration's attempt to stifle dissent.
Chris might even cry...

The lead on the the show sounded like it was going to be pro-KerryLOL
I just posted a reply to #169 and pinged you with my prognostication that it will be pro-Kerry. Yes, I'm sure it will. Why? I know Chris Matthews. I don't dislike him, but he aggravates me with his frequent wrongness.
As to the Nixon angle. First, I guess Kerry ended up on the "enemies list". Second, Chuck Colson, I believe it is, is heard on the tapes telling Nixon about the protesters wanting to sleep on the Mall, and that his information is that John Kerry actually spent the night at some supporter's home and not outdoors with the others. Colson said Kerry appeared to be a "phony", I believe the word was. So either Chris will acknowledge they may have been on to Kerry's phoniness years ago, or he'll say the Nixon adminstration was a bunch of meanies for saying such a thing about a decorated War Hero.
To: cyncooper
Clarification:
I don't "know" Chris Matthews personally, I "know" him from watching and getting a handle on how his brain works (or doesn't, as the case may be)
My ping was to #168.

EVen if he did, in fact, vote against this assassination scheme, wouldn't you expect a responsible citizen to report such a thing to the authorities? Otherwise, isn't he an accessory?
I don't think that his vote gets him off the hook if he knew about it and kept mum.
The Big Question is still "What did you know and when did you know it?"
To: Nevermore
I dont think thats reasonable if the comment was not taken as serious. Not that it wasnt serious to the guy who proposed it--but from those who listened and voted him down.
We are not going to win in the Viet Nam issues. We will win in the terrorist issues.
Just because you carried a weapon in a war does not make you tough on terrorists. My God, my father in law carried a weapon all throughgout WWII and I did not trust him to drive my car to the corner. He was a fine man, but a lousy driver.

bump for the first big shot in the campaign...
Prediction: This will all be spun, as Kerry and his camp say...
1. That was a different time back then.
2. We were just crazy kids.
3. As soon as I (Kerry) heard about the assasination plot, I was OUT of there.
4. I hired Camil because he's a different person now. We were friends, we'll always be friends (Dan Rather style) Besides, again, it was a different time...
...yada yada yada.
