Amazing. I just spoke with Tom Lipscomb who wrote the recent article in the NY SUN that discussed a Kansas City Meeting in Nov. 1971. At that meeting, Vietnam Veterans Against the War were discussing assassinating U.S. Senators. John Kerry has denied he was there.
In a Kansas City Star piece yesterday, Randy Barnes, who has placed Kerry at that meeting must have gotten a phone call. He now is backtracking and isn't quite so sure Kerry was there. Barnes suggests that Kerry might have been at the St. Louis meeting earlier and he is confused.
How about this? JOHN KERRY WAS ON T.V. RECENTLY DENYING HE WAS AT THE ST. LOUIS MEETING!!!
I don't have cable. Please, FReepers, watch FOX NEWS within the next hour and report here.

This is going nowhere. Kerry, even if he was there, was against it because it was too radical. This won't hurt him, it will just reinforce the message that he is a level headed guy who will not shoot from the hip--like that cowboy crook.
Funny how this stuff comes out on Saturday afternoon--when no one is watching, listening, or paying attention.
The 'pubies have to do better than this or we aren't going to win.

A half hour ago, Lipscomb told me that Kerry had denied being at the St. Louis meeting on TV recently in a news conference. If he was not in KC and not in St. Louis, where was Mr. Kerry?

"When asked by the Sun who told him Mr. Kerry was no-show at Kansas City, Mr. Brinkley replied, Senator Kerry. Mr. Brinkley also stated that Mr. Kerry did not have a personal copy of the resignation letter either."
THIS IS BIG......Brinkley's sole source (primary source that is...besides that other book he quotes) for the claim that Kerry left before thet meeting is KERRY HIMSELF.
And Kerry does not provide a copy of the resignation letter...

Interesting. Thanks. I only recently discovered his byline. He's written solid stuff before.

Nothing to see here move along--
I don't 'hate' many things. In fact, I was taught not to say 'hate' - then along came Clinton all. But I must say - I HATE that phrase. Oh, well, I know you don't mean it!

EXCUSE ME but being connected in any way with a radical group and a plot to kill Senators (even if he advised against it) WILL NOT bode well for Kerry! It drives home the point that underneath his smooth exterior beats the heart of a RADICAL not worthy of being President.

This article claims he was not at the St. Louis meetin (though this was an August meeting, not the July one):
"But on behalf of the John Kerry campaign, spokesman David Wade told the Sun yesterday that Mr. Kerry resigned from Vietnam Veterans Against the War sometime in the summer of 1971 after the August meeting in St. Louis, which Kerry did not attend."

So, for people saying Kerry was there at the KC meeting, we have:
Terry Du-Bose
Musgrave
Barnes (though he flip-flops)....enthusiastic Kerry supporter and head of Missouri Vets for Kerry
Those saying no:
Wade...Kerry Spokesman
Kerry
Hurley...Kerry campaign person
Brinkley (whose research is very thin on when Kerry actually resigned)
Camil
There is really only one person who says Kerry was not there who does not have an agenda. Brinkley wants to defend the conclusions of the book, and everybody else denying it is connected to the Kerry campaign. Only Camil is not an official worker for the campaign.
On the other hand, I do not see an agenda in all who say Kerry was there. They support Kerry.
We have two saying he was definitely there, with Barnes being a third person who flip-flops a little by saying later he wasn't definitely sure if he was there.
But, we only have one source that would not have an agenda saying Kerry did not attend the KC meeting.
Very interesting...

Randy Barnes, who has placed Kerry at that meeting must have gotten a phone call. He now is backtracking and isn't quite so sure Kerry was there. Barnes suggests that Kerry might have been at the St. Louis meeting earlier and he is confused. By the way, there is a plane ticket to Kenya waiting at the airport for Mr. Barnes.
For a guy running for president, Kerry sure seems to surround himself with people who are confused and can't recall things.

Thank you for saying that. I hate it also.

First it was stated that Kerry 'resigned orally'. In the new book about Kerry, the author claims that he resigned by letter (but cannot find the letter).
Hmmmm.
