Media War Against Bush
The Reality Check ^ | 13 March 2004 | Randall H. Nunn

Posted on 03/13/2004 7:53:34 AM PST by Lando Lincoln

It is quite clear by now that the media elites believe they can oust President Bush by orchestrating a campaign against him that is unmatched in its scope and single-mindedness of purpose. Rather than changing their ways in response to the increasing criticism they are receiving because of their pervasive liberal bias, they are becoming more determined and more partisan than ever in their drive to install a far-left Senator with little experience and even less principle as president. The battle for the presidency will be between these liberal media moguls aided by the far-left anti-war, anti-Western radicals and average Americans of traditional values aided by talk radio, the Internet and the few unbiased media outlets like FOX News and The Wall Street Journal. In other words, principled middle America against the far-left ideologues.

The leftists in the media might have been able, once upon a time, to create a tidal wave of public opinion against Bush through a campaign of misinformation and bias, but with the Internet, talk radio and a network willing to give balanced coverage, they are in for a real fight. And hopefully, the results in November will go a long way toward breaking the back of the huge liberal spin machine that much of the media has become.

In the past year, we have seen scandals at The New York Times involving its senior management failing to supervise journalists, allowing and encouraging inaccurate and biased reporting to be published. We have had a number of books published detailing not just the liberal bias in the media but also the arrogance of those in the media who are the biggest purveyors of this bias. There are books about women in the media who spin their liberal webs of propaganda and attempt to set the political agenda for American women--a liberal agenda. Yet all of this criticism and all of the counter activity seems only to have infuriated the media bosses and elitists and they have reacted by abandoning any effort to be objective. It is as if the media elites are saying, "Let them eat cake" to the millions of us who now see and fully comprehend their excesses, unfairness and arrogance.

The way to defeat the liberal control of the mass media is to switch to talk radio, the Internet and FOX News as the communication channels of choice. We know that we will not see or hear objective reporting or commentary on the networks or in the “mainstream” press, so why spend any time listening to it? You will find that if you listen to FOX News channel instead of ABC, CBS, NBC or CNN, you will begin to feel optimistic again and proud of your country and the ideals of western civilization. And the best part is that you won’t be made to feel guilty about having such thoughts. Perhaps this will even lead to a restoration of objectivity in the press and on television and allow both to once again reflect the values of the people of this country and not just a handful of leftists seeking to condition us through skillful manipulation of what we see and hear each day in the media.

The Greek philosopher Archimedes once said, "Give me a point on which to stand and I will move the earth." The leftist media is saying "Give us the ability to control and slant the news and we will bend the minds of the young, the unsuspecting and the uncommitted to our political and social views." And their views will produce a generation of politically correct but feeble-minded dependents of the nanny state who will be only too glad to turn over personal responsibility to government and the elitists on the left.

The immediate objective for conservative Americans who believe in limited, constitutional government, individual liberty and traditional values must be to defeat the effort by the press to destroy President Bush. With the massive amounts of money being supplied by billionaire George Soros, as well as the Hollywood crowd coupled with the near-monopoly control of the networks, the task will be difficult. But the importance of victory could not be more clear. Weakness or failure of will by the United States would be disastrous at this point, both because of the tremendous lift it would give to our enemies worldwide and because of the blow it would deliver to the confidence of those Americans who have fought long and hard for the principles of freedom and liberty. But once this battle is won, conservatives need to take a serious look at our schools and universities, as well as the entertainment industry and popular culture because the rot that has set in there needs to be countered as well if we are to avoid having the leftist ideology forced on us through unthinking acceptance of it by a rising generation that has been propagandized by those in control.

This is truly a cultural war. And it is being fought on the left by a powerful and well-entrenched media that believes it holds the high ground and the advantage. But I am betting that the Internet, talk radio and FOX News can outflank the media's Maginot Line and free the millions of information-starved prisoners in their audiences from the gulags of bias and thought control that the media have created.

The "Fire with Fire" strategy seems to mean that they will win, if past trend are any guide. If the rats get back their full power, no conservative ownership of large media will get by the FCC.

The conservative's "plight" is not slander or libel, the media is merely a conduit for hollow messages. I was joking with my wife this morning, the current media jag is the word "negative." Instead of discussing the actual words in ads, the discussion is "What is 'negative'?," "Who was 'negative' first?" -- really very childish, and useful (conceded, effective) only as propaganda.

Pravda was an open joke in Russia. People joked about it openly in daily, personal interaction -- at the markets, at parties. So, our established media is no different from Pravda. Really, it is no different. So make fun of it. Make a habit to do so in the check-out line.

I think a bigger risk to general freedom is open voting and wealth re-distribution. When a majority of voters can vote cash out of the minority, history shows no example of social survival.

"This election could be another day when "Americans threw a temper tantrum" by voting Republican"
True! But, sometimes we have to remind Americans what is going on right in front of their passive faces. I think by just counting the stories in your local paper that degrade President Bush and uplift Kerry should be called to task. Don't just give them a number....count the stories..give rebuttal to the ones that make Kerry look good and make your counterpoint.
Oh yea, it wouldnt hurt to email all the talking heads on FOX, MSNBC, CNN (ergh) et all and tell them you want more balanced reporting. I thought I was the only one noticing Fox going south with some of their coverage on Kerry. And I emailed them and called them on it. Ticked me off that they cut away when Bush was giving his speech on the economy in OH last week..and they went to commercial and never went back. I told them I had to go to CNN and see more of the speech..and "How Dare They?" They can't afford to tick off the conservatives..we give them a majority of their ratings. Anyway...another thought. When Reagan was elected, it was from the votes of the Silent Majority. To get Bush re-elected, we need to become the LOUD Majority..and drowned out the left. Our national security and our way of living (economy) depends on it.

Listening to Glen Beck yesterday......

Glen Beck, Hannity, Rush and other talk radio conservatives have a huge audience and are so far doing a really good job of exposing and countering the propaganda and lies of the liberal media.

However, I think more needs to be done, especially by Republicans and the Bush PR teams.

I like to use easily verifiable facts to sow doubt about the media's reliability. For example, Martha Stewart was in fact cahrged with insider trading, but it's not reported. The ladies who expressed outrage at the GOP 9/11 ads are members of Peaceful Tomorrow's, and the media knew these people demonstrated against the Iraq war. FR is full of specific examples of media shenanigans. Use the fact to sow doubt about the media in the minds of strangers. Some seeds will take, some won't. But sow, sow sow!

While I have strong disagreement with his assessment of Gibson's movie, "The Passion of the Christ," On the point of fighting terrorism, he is right on the money -- meaning, I agree =;*)

Talk radio, Christian talk radio, blogs, FNC, WND, Newsmax and the web, have become our only resourses for getting the truth out. We can cancel our subscriptions, get wealthy people to start new news papers. But it takes time to do this and be effective. Look how long it took FNC to take over the alphabets.

Then again who are you going to hire..85% of media are RATS, marxist, commies or socialist.

Even FNC lets us down as we have seen of late. all hanoi john, all the time. Precious little exposing of his record. Don't for a minute think they don't have several file folders on him.

If FReepers can google up this stuff so can lazy a$$ reporters.

Well you are much more optimistic then I am. If Bush wins then we shall know that you are right, and it will be delightful to watch the media implode. If he does notyou may find the you are not so sanguine about the power of the meida in our political lives.

I do find you Pravda metaphor troubling - that was perhaps the most rapacious totalitarian society in history in which they, as you say, "laughed at Pravda." I assure you that they did not dare to laugh out loud, as tens of millions of people confined to the gulag could atest too. They did not laugh at the political police much either. I know I spent some time there during the height of the cold war and no one much had the idea that there was anything too humorous about the "thought control" apparatus in the USSR, of which Pravda was only a minor component.

Socialist regimes tend to require outside forces to be overthrown. When we go, that is really about it for the world.

I should also say that while you are correct is your assessment of other threats such as wealth distribution, etc. it seems on to me to confound a means (e.g. propaganda) with and end (e.g. socialism.)

Again, we shall see. If there ever was a clearer testbed for you proposition this election is it.

I cannot believe in a time of war we are even considering this jerk. I note that of late they have backed off of the Vietname angle a bit. Perhaps they are aware that someone else has some files at hand.

Oh I agree with you about raising a stink. This is what got Big Media's attention about the Super Bowl show. And here on FR we were sickened by Kid Rock's poor decision to make an American flag into a poncho by cutting through the middle as well as the nipple piercing and the crotch grabbing. This all happened the day of the game.

It took the media several days to respond to the flag incident.

It's not that the Super Bowl incidents don't matter. I just wish that we could mobilize over the huge hypocrisies in the Kerry coverage. This man is unfit to lead this country (and is a traitor and possibly an unindicted war criminal).

He fully supported the war in Iraq when Bill Clinton was president (incluing going it alone if the UN, France, and Russia were unwilling to authorize force against Saddam Hussein). This man is a political opportunist and cannot be counted on doing the "right" thing.

People think that Albert Gore Junior would have handled 9.12.2001 a whole lot differently. I agree. He would have launched some missiles much sooner than George W. Bush just to show that he wasn't a wimp. Of course hitting empty tents wouldn't have accomplished much but it would have helped to maintain his ratings.

Boy, I agree. I watched you all go to town on the Iraqui spy story as it broke. And you all came up with so much information. I run downtown to the bank an hour later and am listening to Rush..and pert near drove off the road when he announced the breaking story.Awesome!!!, I thought. The goods are there for everyone to see and hear. Then, as the days went by and I saw first hand how this story was distorted, I wanted to just cry, give up and scream..all at once. Then last night I watched Hannity and Combs and witnessed how ZOGBY P&M'd about Bush's add that was released yesterday. How it degrades the Muslims and has increased threats against innocent Middle Eastern people (what, should they use a Norwegian--blond, blue eyed????) Goood Lord, that pissed me off. That was the LAST straw. So here I rant. And I don't know about you all..but I'm going to do something about it. So I get arthritis from typing all day and all night (in between working two jobs). It will be well worth the pain if it makes a difference.

"These newspapers, owned and edited by these men, although free from the repulsive vulgarity of the yellow press, were susceptible to influence by the priviledged interests, and were almost or quite as hostile to manliness as they were to unrefined vice...they favored the removal of tariff on works of art; they favored all the proper (and even more strongly all the improper) movements for international peace and arbitration; in short, they favored all good, and many goody-goody, measures so long as they did not cut deep into social wrong or make demands on National and individual virility. They opposed, or were lukewarm about, efforts to build up the army and the navy, for they were not sensitive concerning National honor; and, above all, they opposed every non-milk-and-water effort, however sane, to change our social and economic system in such a fashion as to substitute the ideal justice towards all for the ideal of kindly charity from the favored few to the possibly grateful many."

I like this thread because I've been preaching the importance of this struggle (hence my tagline) for years here on FR.

As a marketing/advertising pro, I know firsthand how easily the sheeple are led around by the media and entertainment. They are my tools, and they work best on the dreamy, distracted, aimless citizens that have been weened on Hollywood and the Big 3 networks.

It's embarrassing how easily people are swayed by shiny baubles and class warfare.

The stakes are high, the highest ever. America approaches a fork in the road come November. Fall of the Empire on the left, Strength and exported freedom on the right. Sorry, but this is hardball, better bring a cup.

My belief is that to take on national media is almost impossible. However, we can make a difference locally. I am not an organizer and I wouldn't know where to start but it seems we have some fabulous freeper minds with a great ability to write. What if there were volunteer freepers in various cities around the country that countered liberal newspaper articles by writing to the opinion pages? People read these editoral and opinion pages. If there were groups of freepers in these cities that together coordinated their opinions and sumbitted them, it would make a difference.

This is nothing more than the by-product of Campaign Finance Reform, the Alphabets won round one, Freedom of Speech is on the ropes, round two ends 2005.
Pick your poison, Al-Queda, Kerry, Gay Marriage, the end of the 2nd Amendmendment, the corruption of the 1st Amendmendment, North Korea, etc

Hey I might be old and tired, but I am dialed in.

Every lying liberal talking face we see is forever harping about the hundred million dollar or so, war chest that the President has raised. They never admit to the 500 million dollars worth of free propaganda time they spend knocking Bush and glorifying that uppity, New England socialist snob that they are trying to force upon us.

I don't believe Fox is going to be much help to us. More and more they seem to be bashing Bush and airing undiluted liberal trash talk and propaganda.

That is a great idea. I know I am not good at writing. My mind turns to mush when it comes to debating in writing. I'm better at reading and talking..HA! But, wouldn't it be awesome if we had some writers that could write rebuttals to the slander we are reading today--put them on a website where we could copy and paste (with permission--not plagerizing)? And we can post them to our local papers? I know I sound lazy, but I guess it's because I am just not confident. I guess I would write more on an emotional level and I know that turns some off. We do have a little space in our local paper called "on the line" where you can call in with a short quip. I may start there...gain some confidence and then keep going to bigger and better things:)PS, sorry about the double post..I forgot to 'turn the page :0
