WASHINGTON (CNN) -- This week's deadly train bombings in Spain will not lead to a rise in the U.S. color-coded terror threat alert system, a Department of Homeland Security spokesman said Friday.
"Based on the current intelligence, we have no specific indicators that terrorist groups are considering such an attack in the U.S. in the near term," said department spokesman Brian Roehrkasse.

Regarding your tag line. I'd go with a .40. Better stopping power than a 9mm.Agreed. It's a very good balance between the higher magazine count of the 9mm and the knockdown power of the .45. LEO's are migrating to .40, what does that tell you?
With the magazine limits in Kalistan, I tend towards punching bigger holes to make up for the lower number of holes...

All input is noted.
9mm ammo seems to be much cheaper.
Can't I buy a heavier load for stopping power?

(9mm or .40 as first handgun? any advice?)
To: ßuddaßudd
Hotter ammo is less accurate and will wear out your firearm faster. Yes, 9mm is cheaper. One way around the expense of the .40 is to start reloading. If you decide to reload, LEARN how to do so properly. Improper reloading can cause serious injury or death. (Now I sound like a warning label)

I have a Barretta 92 (9mm). For self-defense I use Federal Hyra-Shok 147gr.
Budda, if your new to shooting, I would suggest reading up on ballistics. Hornady has a couple of good books on the subject.
Stopping power is basically kinetic energy. A combination of bullet velocity and weight. A heavier bullet travels slower but carries more energy down range. Also, a heavier bullet produces higher pressures.
Everything in shooting is compromise. Decide on what your trying to accomplish. No one firearm is good for all situations.
My apologies to all for getting off subject.

Arab militant vows attacks on Russia - Jazeera
DUBAI (Reuters) - Arab television channel Al Jazeera has broadcast a videotape of the man it says is the leader of Arab fighters in Chechnya, vowing to stage a new wave of attacks inside Russia.
Abu al-Waleed, said by the Kremlin of being among those behind last month's bombing on the Moscow underground, added that his campaign might depend on the outcome of Russia's coming presidential polls.
"The enemies of God drop mines in the forests and, God willing, we will return them to the Russians and they will find them on their land and in the midst of their families," said the bearded man who was standing in a forest.
"But perhaps we may wait a little to see the upcoming elections. If they elect someone who declares war on Chechnya, then the Russians are declaring war against the Chechens and by God we will send them these (mines)... Not only these but also things that did not cross their minds," he said.
The man, wearing military fatigues and a beret and speaking in Arabic, was shown picking up a "butterfly" mine from foliage. He said his fighters had found hundreds of them.
"We will return these to you (Russians)...You will, God willing, see hundreds of people crippled," he said.
Officials at Qatar-based Al Jazeera were not immediately available on Saturday to comment on when or how they received the videotape.
Security has been tightened across Russia ahead of Sunday's elections and extra troops have been stationed along the border of Chechnya, where rebels have long been fighting Russian rule.
The Kremlin blames Chechen rebels for a spate of attacks including a suicide bombing which killed close to 50 people on a train in southern Russia before last December's parliamentary polls and the attack on the underground, which killed around 40.
The Kremlin believes Abu al-Waleed was also among those behind the 1999 apartment bombings across Russia that prompted President Vladimir Putin to send troops back into Chechnya.

Report: Spanish Intelligence Sees Islamic Group Behind Attack Sat Mar 13, 2004 11:09 AM ET
MADRID (Reuters) - Spain's intelligence service is "99 percent certain" that radical Muslims and not the Basque separatist group ETA are responsible for train bombings that killed 200 people, a Spanish radio station said on Saturday.
Private radio SER, whose owners have links to the opposition Socialist Party, said the National Intelligence Center (CNI) believes the evidence points to an Islamic group, and that 10 to 15 people left bombs on the trains and fled, the radio said.
"The evidence has wiped out previous indications that led us to believe in ETA," the radio quoted one of its sources as saying.
Who was responsible is seen by political analysts as an important question ahead of Sunday's general election.
Interior Minister Angel Acebes told a press conference: "If it (is believed to be) al Qaeda, no authorities from the state security forces have told me." A Defense Ministry spokesman declined comment on the radio report.
Many analysts say any proven ETA involvement in the bombings would probably benefit the ruling party because of its tough anti-ETA stance, but if the attack was the work of Muslim militants, it could be viewed as the consequence of Spain's domestically unpopular backing of the U.S.-led war in Iraq.
Cadena SER, citing high ranking intelligence officials, said that at first ETA was suspected. That changed after police later on the day of Thursday's attacks discovered a stolen van near the railway station where three of the four bombed trains originated.
In that van was found seven detonators and an Arabic language audio tape giving instruction about the Koran. The van did not have the false license plates ETA normally attaches to its stolen vehicles.
Moreover, other evidence has pointed away from ETA, such as the type of detonators used and the synchronized nature of the attacks.
Four early morning trains were bombed at the same time, similar to the hijacking of four early morning commercial flights in the attacks of September 11, 2001 on the United States.

Okay, that does it! How are the creeps blowing out tires? What are they doing to them that would cause this?
Yesterday, I spoke with a friend who has spent his entire life in aviation. He's flown big birds, small birds, private birds. Fought in wars and probably created some, just to have something to do. He has flown the World over. NEVER, not ONE time, has he EVER heard of this happening. Not in war time, not in peace time. He did say to rest assured the FAA and numerous other alphabets were all over this, and those pilots wouldn't be going anywhere, anytime soon.
He WILL freak when I tell him, if I can find him, that it's happened twice.

Sorry everyone, nothing sinister. I host the graphic on my home machine, and my router has been acting strangely. It just randomly locks up and the only way for me to fix it is to reset it. I can't baby sit it 24 hours a day unfortunately. Once I have some spare cash I'm going to get a replacement. Really sorry for the inconvenience.

Another date - or spread of dates - I would look for would be around the end of April, say the 26-28th. These were the dates when the Moors invaded Spain for the first time, crossing at the point that we now call the Straits of Gibraltar.
Osama is famous for wanting to go back to things the Muslims didn't get quite right the first time around. The Muslims were successful and did conquer Spain, but they eventually got booted out, and it wouldn't surprise me if this date was important to him.
Bear in mind that Gibraltar now belongs to the British.
