WASHINGTON (CNN) -- This week's deadly train bombings in Spain will not lead to a rise in the U.S. color-coded terror threat alert system, a Department of Homeland Security spokesman said Friday.
"Based on the current intelligence, we have no specific indicators that terrorist groups are considering such an attack in the U.S. in the near term," said department spokesman Brian Roehrkasse.

You don't have to visit Russia for that kind of problem. PacBell booked me at the downtown Hilton in Los Angeles for a training class in 1984. The local working girls would hit the hotel lobby around 10 PM and use the "house phone" to start calling the guest rooms in numeric order to look for business. You could hear the phones ring sequentially down the hallway. Extra fine services for only $110 per night.
I booked myself into a $27/night motel the following week. The TV was broken, but the room was clean. No hookers calling. One half a block from the training facility.
Think low tech. Ride the elevator to the 13th. Select the down direction to the first floor. Place the bomb outside the elevator door with a 5 minute timer. Ride down and leave the building. Boom! The bomb squad won't even have time to be notified. It's likely the "package" won't even be discovered.
The trouble with that is many people who will claim to support the cause will go right back to buying products made in China. etc. because they cost less (that's what keeps Walmart ahead of the rest)
You are correct, our purchasing power can serve as a thunderbolt to express our concerns and leverage involving political matters. We should do that more often.
Think low tech again. Do you have a kitchen? Do you have a Home Depot? A light bulb and a common 110 AC switching thermostat will convert your oven into a simple incubator. You can cook agar in pans on the stove. A pressure cooker makes a fine autoclave. Cheap plastic cookware is satisfactory for nutrient broth and improvised petri dishes. Bio warfare is low tech and horribly effective. Any college kid with a semester class in microbiology understands the rudimentary requirements.
