Rumsfeld, as Secretary of Defense, is alleged to have kept a chunk of the jet that crashed into the Pentagon (i.e. the HQ of the DOD). OK, aside from ethical questions, this is an intriguing accusation because there are (many) conspiracy theorists on the internet claiming that NO plane hit the Pentagon, it was all done with explosives planted inside the building.

I know that theorists are wrong, wrong, wrong because I know someone who actually saw the plane dive into the Pentagon. I had entertained the vague thought that somehow the plane was trying to land or crashland into the open spaces of Arlington National Cemetery, just beyond the Pentagon, but my eyewitness is Very Emphatic that the plane headed absolutely straight for the midpoint of one of the walls of the Pentagon and even turned up the thrusters in the last few moments to get even more impact.
