Great Pictures! Thanks for the ping!

I think these are some of the most graphic pictures depicting the genuine love and respect these two have for each other.

Hi Ms.B--

Hope you're having a good day. I went out and saw all the baby calves today--running behind their mommies with their tails up in the air, just like you said. :-)

Take care-

DollyCali -- I have always heard the great NW was beautiful.. from the dakotas west.. and I hear that Idaho has much hidden treasure and likes to let people just think of it as a potato state to keep tourists out.

Yup, and we keep telling those Californians about ALL the rain ...
they keep on coming. sigh But if I lived in CA, I would put up with the rain rather than live there.

I've been to almost all the places I posted pictures of ... and many more. (I take it as a duty to contribute to the local economy!) There is a lot more to see out here than these show. One of my total favorite things to do is go to Port Townsend on the NE side of the Olympic Peninsula, right on the Sound, and spend the day. It's a perfectly preserved Victorian-era town of about 8 or 10,000 people on the edge of the rain shadow of the Olympics, looking across to the Cascade Mountains -- magnificent views, close to Hurricane Ridge. Old military forts are nearby, they have incredible bed and breakfasts (lots of honeymooners go there) and a real castle; water and mountain sports, camping, ferry rides take you to Seattle or Canada, or points in between. Then there's Lake Quinault Lodge deep in the Olympics -- a getaway to redefine the word. I could go on ... but I constrain myself!

texasflower, I'm so glad you enjoyed the photos and will show them to your youngins. You can just tell them that I'm doing the bragging (that way they can still appreciate the beauty of this state!).

All is well. Have been very busy at work. I'm "in charge" these days with my boss "out of town". Looking forward to spring.

We are thinking of doing a tour of New England for summer vacation. I met some really great people from Massachusetts when I went to my miltary school in December. Would love to see Boston and Cape Cod. Would hope to see a few other states too. So much history. My area prides itself on tearing down our history to build the latest fad restaurant. Most people would never know that this part of the country was founded 300 years ago!

Your'e in charge, huh?
does that mean lots of extra work for you?
Hey, we're all very proud of you know!
Promise me if you tour New England, that you will swing up to Maine and come and see me!
Kennebunkport awaits!
If you time it right, we might see "W"..
seems he always comes to Maine around his birthday in July!

Ms. B, it would be a thrill to meet you! We are working on our itinerary and hoping gas doesn't spike up to the predicted $3 a gallon.

Yeah, being the boss means some more work. I had to do some counseling sessions last weekend to get a few of my folks back on the right track. We have been getting a lot of new and extra tasks. People are starting to figure out we're there 24 hours and could help them out. A luxury not available before 9-11.

My people have been terrific, handling all kinds of interesting situations.

Thank you for the kind words. I would love a glimpse of W at Kennebunkport. I sure hope he comes here some day. I pray daily that he'll have 4 more years to have the chance to visit our base!

CyberAnt is recovering from her dental surger, which she said went fine except for one infected tooth. She said to say "hi" to everyone! Hopefully she'll be back here soon.

Friends--

As the end to an otherwise pretty boring day, I was laying on the couch watching FOX when a BAT began flying around the room. Now, I have a near panic reaction to bats in my house swooping around, and when I opened the door in hopes of the bat flying out, one of the dogs saw her chance to escape, and ran out. The da*& bat was still swooping around. In hysterics, I woke my husband, who calmly dealt with the bat (with one of my daughter's crutches) and the dog finally came back.

Now, I know that bats are supposedly protected species, and they won't fly at me, and they eat flying insects, blah, blah, blah.

BUT I WASNT TO KNOW HOW TO GET THEM OUT OF MY HOUSE, AND NOW, AND PERMANENTLY, AND FOREVER!

Anyone, anyone at all with any hints of 1. Getting a bat out of your house when it's flying around, or 2. Getting rid of them thru the whole house, permanently, please let me know ASAP. Believe you me, there are enough of them and no matter how many there are out there, there will still be flying insects, so it won't hurt if I get rid of a few.

Please, no advice like blocking cracks--this da%$ house is too old and I ain't going near where there are cracks and could be bats. I'm talking big time killing here. Shock and awe.

I know it's not logical, I know they don't want to get near me any more than I want near them, but I can't help feeling this way. For the next weeks I'll be flinching every time a fly flies past my face or the TV flickers like a winged rodent has flown past it.

Thank God I have a very brave husband who, woken from a deep sleep (he was snoring) came to rescue me wearing a t-shirt and shorts and NO SHOES! He stood there calmly in the middle of the floor while it swooped around his head repeatedly, till it landed up in the beams of the ceiling and I handed him a crutch with which to permanently "cripple" the bat.

I'm still shuddering. Please someone, help! (I'm sure I'll probably be up all night!)

I have no idea of how to deal with those things, but your story gave me the chills.

When I was about 20, the exact same thing happened to me. That bat swooped around and dove right for me several times. It was one of the most terrifying things I can remember.

A boyfriend beat it to death with a broom. (and laughed at me for hours)

It's sorta freaking me out just thinking about it.
