E-Mail: Attack on U.S. '90 Percent Ready'

An Arabic newspaper said Thursday it had received a claim of responsibility for the Madrid train bombings issued in the name of Al Qaeda (search). The claim also said that a major attack against America was "90 percent ready."

The five-page e-mail claim, signed by the shadowy Brigade of Abu Hafs al-Masri (search), was received at Al-Quds al-Arabi's (search) London offices. It said the brigade's "death squad" had penetrated "one of the pillars of the crusade alliance, Spain," and carried out what it called Operation Death Trains.

Well, the towel-heads sure could use some good news. After all, in the last three years they have lost Afganistan, Iraq and Libya as bases of operation and most of Al-Quaeda's leadership has been snuffed out. American military power and influence in the Middle East is stronger than it has ever been. Most of the so-called 'attacks' these goat-humpers had promised never materialized.

This sounds an awful lot like a biological or radiological (dirty bomb) attack.

Maybe the AQ's are pulling our chain, but it seems prudent to at least have some knowledge about what to do in the event of such a situation. Any knowledgeable FReepers have advice on what sort of precautions might be prudent? Would tossing a couple of dust masks into the trunk do any good, for example?

I eschew paranoia, but when your enemy tips their hand on their next move, it seems like taking some basic steps to counter them is appropriate.

Or should I just get a box of tinfoil and make a hat?
