Young Muslims in the Netherlands are being recruited for armed terrorism missions against Western targets, the Dutch secret service warned today.
In a note to parliament, the agency known by its Dutch acronym AIVD - repeated its November 2002 warning that recruits are active in the Netherlands.
Its known that some stayed in a training camp. Others are involved in supporting Islamic terrorism-related activities like arranging money and passports, the agency said.
Still others are in turn trying to win over other potential recruits.
Since the terror attacks in the United States on September 11, 2001, 17 terrorism suspects have been tried in the Netherlands on the basis of information provided by the secret service, including 12 suspects accused of belonging to a recruitment ring. All were acquitted of major offences.
There has not been a terrorist attack in the Netherlands in recent years, although two young Dutch Muslims were killed in 2001 while apparently attempting an attack on Indian forces in the disputed, predominantly Muslim territory of Kashmir.
In the past year and a half, there was a noticeable decrease in the age of the group of young men susceptible to recruitment, the AIVD said.
In some groups of young Muslims, the wish to take part in jihad appears to be part of youth culture.
The agency said that some Islamic-interest Web sites frequented by young men appeared to be fascinated with violence.
It definitely cant be ruled out that some of these youths just want to make an impression on their peers with radical behaviour and statements, the AIVD said.
The agency said it had also established that some Muslim women, too, foster sympathetic feelings for the violent Islamic struggle. However, they dont play a prominent role in recruiting, as far as is known.

We need to ship the lot of 'em back to the Middle East, then re-screen any of 'em that want to come back.

"...re-screen any of 'em..."
You know, I came those United States in 1970 after a year long screening. I was told that if I looked at the flag wrong in my 5 year probationary period I would be bounced back to where I came from. I took the privilege to come here as a blessing and have appreciated it by trying to pay back in service in the army and good citizenship. There are many of us like that, and we find the notion of people coming here to hurt America atrocious.
It took many years before Islam became radical like this. It will take many to get them to accept the right of others to worship God in a different way.

I'm of a different generation, born in 1929.
Used to be we'd depend upon our manfolk to inflict tit for tat, and then something more.

"Used to be we'd depend upon our manfolk to inflict tit for tat, and then something more."
It used to be that we "manfolk" had a special place in society. Now we are the target of lawsuits, social ridicule by the man haters, and the cause of all that is wrong. But many of us do percevier and fight for our nation, families and what is good in the great land. While its still a great land that is. But then thats up to my generation and hopefully to my son and daughter's as well. And that's because I am teaching them that they have to live up to the example of your generation.

As a woman on Savage said tonight, it's time for us to start treating Muslims and mosques in the U.S. as we did the Communist underground from 1945-1970. Focus the Patriot Act where it will do the most good. Tight monitoring of all mosques, minimal visa allotments, wiretaps, stings.

"At least the Dutch have vision."
So few do. I think this train bombing thing has changed allot of heads real quick. I hear Spain called on Israel for help.
We will get hit again...sadly, we have gotten lax, and the Islamo terrorists would love to embarrass GW this year.
The Olympics are also an inviting target. Or maybe as we are all watching there, they hit somewhere else.
Vision...we need allot it to stop these people.

I agree...
but Savage has rubbed me wrong lately with his crappy attitude. He is turning in to a grump and a freedom snob. wanting to bring our boys home before the job is done and abandoning the investment we have made in changing the face if the Middle East is an insult to the soldiers who have died so far. His right to speak freely was paid for by people like my uncle who died in France even though the French have squandered that freedom.
There are no guarantees the Iraqis will make the best of what they were given by our 500+ kids blood. But they will not have the excuse that they did not get the chance or no one came to their helps. Freedom is something the human race deserves not just a few nations.
We need ot be a bit more creative and far thinking than just the old :ets bring the troops home and guard the border" stuff.

You're right, mate. These youngsters don't take any orders from anyone but their own, and completely ignore Dutch rule and custom. They simply ought to be kicked out of that little country, back where they belong (probably Morocco or so). Their fascination with violence against the West is caused by their lack of success in society due to chronic passiveness. Their antipathy against anything that is not islamic is thoughtfully fed by their religious leaders that had better sent them to school instead of to some weird country for a "How-to-become-a-martyr" course.
Hang 'em.....yeah, why not. Nice and high.

As I've said here before...
All non-diplomatic humans who worship Islam must be restricted from entering the United States until further notice.
They represent a potential national security threat.
