Thanks Ragtime Cowgirl and calpernia. Ya'll are heroines of the info wars, fighting the good fight and countering propaganda and disinformation with truth. Free Republic is part of the media, and every time a Freeper posts a new thread or comments on one, we are part of the media, too. We can be a force multiplier for the defenders of Western Civilization. Ragtime Cowgirl and calpernia are showing us the way.

The article had a great start but it seemed to leave the main point toward the end.

Winning the media battle is as important as winning on the battlefield.

This author really hits a good point.

"There are three different kinds of brains, the one understands things unassisted, the other understands things when shown by others, the third understands neither alone nor with the explanation of others. The first kind is most excellent, the second also excellent, but the third useless." - Niccoló Machiavelli, The Prince. 1537.

"Certain events also easily mislead who have not a great deal of experience, for they have in them so much that resembles truth that men easily persuade themselves that they are correct in the judgement they have formed upon the subject." - Niccoló Machiavelli, The Discourses. 1517.

"War may be fought with weapons, but they are won by men. It is the spirit of the men who follow and of the man who leads that gains the victory." - General George Patton.

Thanks for the kind words, Cannoneer No. 4.

It matters.

Everyone putting out the good news, going against this mainstream newsmedia requires a strong support group, and at least a few good prayer warriors.

We can use as many volunteers as are willing...even just to ping and promote the primary source threads.

You'll notice, there isn't much interest. Even on the day Iraq's constitution was signed, over a hundred Freepers on my ping list since last Sept. multi-pinged daily with good news about the troops (Calpernia and xzins ping list, too), and few comments (but much patience re. multi-pings, lol).

Reality check.

The good news does lift the spirits of a few Soldiers, civilians in the war zone, family members and others who love the troops and believe the fight is noble...and that's worth everything, imho.

Good thing most of us are both stubborn and inspired. (^:

When will the conservative "fat cats" understand that the conservative "voice" is almost non-existant? Compare how many people get their "news" from DanPeterTom plus CNNMSNBC to how many obtain news from internet, Fox (who continue to stupidly provide a forum for the left with their mis-guided attempts to be "fair & balanced"), Rush, Sean (both of whom are essentially reaching conservatives, and not reaching the "undecided"). Conservatives are not even on the field of battle for ideas, let alone scoring any points.

We are in a situation where big broadcasting, plus AP, UPI, Reuters, Al Jazeera, NYT, LAT, Boston Globe, USA Today ... make up stuff to push their agenda and we are SILENT.

BUY at least one of the three networks and let the news return to being the news. If we were to control even one of the network news organizations and just tell it straight the Demoncrats would soon be just a bad memory.

And the revenue from the entertainment programming would pay for it all. And, it would provide a means of countering the total monopoly the media will have in Sept/Oct created by the so-called "Campaign Finance" legislation.

IMHO, until the conservatives have a constant, un-filtered platform to tell it straight to the average citizen day-in and day-out our cause it fatally penalized.

We need to take the battle to the Dims in Mr. & Mrs. America's living room EVERY evening!

Thanks for the ping to direct me to this.

This is how we can win the war against the dark side, by neutering and exposing the left wing mediots. Then the moderates will see that the left represents the dark side, and they will destroy us to regain power/control of America.

Can you imagine how WW2 may have turned out if the Battle of Normandy was shown in our media?

These past few months, I've been drawing a lot of fire for my increasing criticism of this administration's failure to effectively counter the left's media, I see that others whose opinions I respect see this as a problem as well.

Complaining about the left's control of the media and leaving it at that is akin to conceding control of the battlefield to the enemy without attempting to fight back...and that's not acceptable, nor is it conducive to political longevity. As another Freeper put it so well, you have to deal with the media you have, not with the one you wished you had.

Mass propaganda dissemination is today's primary function of a political party, and the GOP is sadly lacking in that aspect; this Administration's well-known dislike of the media is not helping the cause; if media were a weapon, the Bush administration keeps showing up at the OK Corral without a gun in hand, or even holstered. Our biggest tool to fight the left's control of America's main stream media is the Internet, and it's already coming under attack.

We are eight months away from either retaining, or losing control of Congress...the GOP needs to step up, or risk falling prey to the sixth year itch.
