A London-based Arabic newspaper says it has received claim of responsibility for the Madrid train bombings issued in the name of al-Qaida.

That was my thought too. I'm not convinced AQ was involved. You always have successful terrorist operations being claimed by parties who didn't do it because they want to seem more powerful and omnipresent than they really are.

Whether it is separatists or AQ, it's still a pretty awful scene.

Actually, he reminded everyone at the beginning of his program today that Bush had announced a "war on terror" on 9/11, NOT just a "war on AQ," and that Bush from the get-go portrayed it as more than just a one-organization conflict.

The primary job of the President is to ensure the safety of the USA. If Al-Qaeda is in fact responsible for this act, it demonstrates the success of the President in protecting our citizens.

As Al-qaeda reaches out to attack other countries, then perhaps those countries will begin to see through "9-11" eyes.

Spain though has been in full support of us and this attack serves only to reinvigorate that support.

Bush should start running ads with Kerry saying that the terrorist threat is overrated and show images of the WTC, the Indonesia bombing, and today's Spain bombing.
