I worry about the same thing. I also wonder how much of Hollywood is on the payroll. Last night we stumbled onto a "Law and Order" episode that was about 95% Iraqi/Terrorist propoganda. At least, until we turned it off, some 20 minutes into the show.

More data on EPIC which $oddomite $usie was associatied with.
A betting person would bet that the Pro $oddomites listed below have been receiving educational grants from Iraq for a few years:
http://www.epic-usa.org/DesktopDefault.aspx?tabid=174 EPIC Staff
Ashianna Esmail is EPIC's Administrative Assistant. She received her B.A. in Ethnic Studies at the University of California, Berkeley in 2002. She has studied social change and sustainable development while living in Central America. Before joining EPIC, she worked with the Applied Research Center investigating the effects of 9-11 on immigrant communities in the Pacific Northwest and with the Latin America Working Group, a Washington DC-based NGO promoting human rights and just U.S. foreign policy towards Latin America. Outside of her interest in U.S. foreign policy, Ashianna also enjoys participating in voluntary service projects with American Ismaili Muslim youth around the nation.
Christopher Fitz is the Outreach and Iraq Speakers Bureau coordinator at EPIC. He traveled to Iraq in December 2001 with a Church of the Brethren delegation and was instrumental in developing an Iraq advocacy campaign within the Church of the Brethren in 2002-2003. Chris has spoken about Iraq at dozens of conferences, universities, churches and communities throughout the Northeast. Prior to EPIC, he worked as a DC bicycle messenger, the program director at a Christian camp and retreat center and the Peace Studies Program Assistant at Colgate University. Chris received an M.A. in Peace & Development Studies from the Universitat Jaume I (Castellon, Spain) focusing on myths of "ethnic conflict" in US media and foreign policy in conjunction with a fellowship in Croatia from the Winston Foundation. He received a B.A. from Hampshire College (Amherst, MA). Chris also enjoys working in the performing arts, cycling, writing, social dancing and folk music.
Erik Gustafson is EPIC's Executive Director. A veteran of the Gulf War, in 1990-91 he spent eight months in Saudi Arabia with the 864th Engineer Battalion, building hospitals, roads and POW camps. In 1997, he traveled to Iraq on a humanitarian mission and became a dedicated opponent of the broad-based economic sanctions. In 1998, he founded EPIC and soon became recognized as an expert in Iraq and U.S. policy, testifying at congressional briefings and policy forums and delivering countless lectures across North America. He has been interviewed by NBC Nightly News, CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, BBC, NPR, and others. His letters to the editor and opinion pieces have appeared in The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, USA Today, and a dozen other newspapers. For more about Erik visit the Iraq Speakers Bureau.
Sara Willi is Media & Advocacy Assistant at EPIC, publishing weekly Iraq Alerts and coordinating grassroots advocacy and outreach efforts for the organizations. She received a B.A. in Peace Studies with a social science concentration in 2001 from the College of St. Benedict and St. Johns University (MN). Sara has served in various student organizing and leadership roles on issues of nonviolence, justice, feminism, misguided U.S. foreign policy and ending militarism. Sara was an International Human Rights Fellow in Belfast, Northern Ireland, studied and lived in post-apartheid South Africa, and has worked with Minnesota Advocates for Human Rights.
EPIC Board of Directors
Zaid Albanna is a contributor in the field of internet engineering. Albanna was born and raised in Baghdad, Iraq. He attended Iowa State University where he obtained his qualifications in the Electrical Engineering field. He has been working as a consultant in the communications industry for the past 10 years. Albanna is a contributing member in the efforts of the Education for Peace in Iraq Center (EPIC) to help improve the situation.
Andrea Fuller Goldsmith became a member of EPIC's board in 2001 and is now serving as it's chair. She has worked on the issue of US foreign policy towards Iraq, with a particular focus on its impact on human rights and development, since 1999. In 2001, Andrea went on two humanitarian trips to Iraq, observing and recording the effects of the sanctions on the Iraqi people and infrastructure, and overseeing the distribution of medical supplies from Project Cure. With a strong interest in
the Middle Easther emphases on Israel, Palestine and Iraqshe has a Masters in International Human Rights and a Certificate in Conflict Resolution from the University of Denver. Currently, she is Development Coordinator at the Rocky Mountain Survivors Center, which serves survivors of torture and war trauma from around the world, in Denver, Colorado.
Kelly Hayes-Raitt visited Iraq twice in 2003, in February before the war and then in July, to find the children and women who touched her so deeply during her first visit. She saw firsthand the impact of the bombings and invasion on innocent people's lives, homes and hearts. Over 2 weeks, she traveled through Baghdad, Hillah, Fallouja, Basra and Umm Qasr. Hayes-Raitt is president of Coast-to-Coast Community Campaigns, specializing in community organizing and media relations programs. With 25 years of public relations, fundraising and community organizing experience, she is a veteran of 25 political campaigns in 9 states and Washington, DC. Speaking on "Face-to-Face with the Women of Iraq," Hayes-Raitt brings compelling photographs and vivid stories to her presentation that humanizes the Iraqi people far beyond enemies or victims. Read Hayes-Raitt's commentary in Surf Santa Monica.
Sue Hemberger is an independent scholar based in Washington, DC. She thinks engaged citizenship is a dying art and is involved in a variety of attempts to revive it. She has a PhD in Politics from Princeton and likes to believe that she would have finished her book on the debates over the framing and ratification of the US Constitution last year had anti-war activism not seemed so much more urgent than manuscript revisions after 9/11. This is her first year on EPIC's board.
Danielle Leclair worked on Capitol Hill for seven years. After working for Senator Mikulski (D-MD) and Rep. Kleczka (D-WI), she served as Senior Legislative Assistant for Rep. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) from 1998-2000, handling a variety of domestic policy issues - primarily health care. During her time with Rep. Sanders, Ms. LeClair travelled to Iraq as part of the first congressional delegation to that nation since the start of the first Gulf War. She lobbied for the National Breast Cancer Coalition in 2000 and returned to Capitol Hill in 2001 to serve as Legislative Director for Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA). In addition to staffing the Congresswoman on the Financial Services Committee and working on health and education issues, Ms. LeClair oversaw the legislative functions of Rep. Lee's office, including the period of her courageous sole vote against the use of force resolution in Afghanistan. Ms. LeClair has a MA in Government from Johns Hopkins University and is currently pursuing her PhD at UW-Madison in health policy.
Carl Levan is a long-time supporter of EPIC. Carl LeVan joined the board of directors in September 2002. As the Legislative Director for U.S. Representative John Conyers (D-MI), Carl helped draft the first bill to lift the economic sanctions on Iraq. During his nearly seven years on Capitol Hill, Carl worked closely with grassroots peace and justice organizations. He advised Rep. Conyers on trade, immigration, national security, and American policy towards Haiti. In 2000, Carl worked in Abuja as a technical advisor to the Nigerian National Assembly. He holds an M.A. in political science from American University and a B.A. from George Washington University, where as an undergraduate he was a leader in the anti-war movement in 1990 1991. Carl worked briefly at the Institute for Policy Studies in Washington, D.C. in 1992 and was a visiting Semour Melman Fellow there in 2001. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in political science and his research interests include comparative democratization, civil society, and constitutional design in Africa. Carl currently resides in San Diego, CA.
John Reinke has a bachelors degree in mathematics from Brooklyn College and did graduate study in international relations at San Francisco State University. He served in the Peace Corps in the Philippines and Nigeria. John worked as an international civil servant for the International Labor Organization in Geneva, Switzerland for three and a half years. He is a founding board member of The Compassionate Listening Project, a nonprofit dedicated to fostering understanding and reconciliation around the world. John has more than 30 years of experience in the fields of computer software and engineering. He organized and led a research trip to Prince William Sound, Alaska to study humpback whales. He also co-led a mangrove reforestation team in coastal Ecuador for the Mangrove Action Project.

That had me angry. They wrapped it up, ok, though. Found out the reporter had shot himself on purpose for the sake of the headlines. The SGT came off looking pretty good.

Deal to Sell Water All Wet, Critics Charge
by Richard Sisk
UMM QASR, Iraq - The U.S. military came up with a solution
yesterday for the >penniless people of this port town
begging for water: Sell it.
>Despite general mayhem at distribution points - including
knife fights -
>the Army has struck a hasty agreement with local Iraqis to
expedite >distribution of water to the roughly 40,000 living here.
>Under the deal, the military will provide water free to
locals with access >to tanker trucks, who then will be allowed to sell the
water for a >"reasonable" fee.
>"We're permitting them to charge a small fee for water,"
said Army Col. >David Bassert. "This provides them with an incentive to
hustle and to work," said Bassert,
>an assistant commander with the 354th Civil Affairs
Brigade. >He said he could not suggest what constitutes a reasonable
fee and did not
>know what the truckers were charging. He said the
tradition here of
>haggling at markets would help the system work.
>"People know when they're being gouged - we'll deal with
it," Bassert said.
>But with the population badly in need of water, food and
medical supplies, >the arrangement drew its share of critics. 'This is
crazy' Several Iraqi-Americans originally from this
region, who are working as
>interpreters and guides with the U.S. military, were
incensed at what they >consider an attempt to jump-start a free-market economy
during a crisis. >"This is bull----," said an Iraqi-American who asked to be
identified only >as Ahmed. "They are selling water and this is crazy.
Nobody has any money,
>nobody knows what is money [to use] - Iraqi money,
American money, nobody >knows." A British military spokesman angrily objected to
the water deal. The >British control the city of Umm Qasr while the Americans
are in charge of the port.
>"We're not going to have any charging for water. What kind
of an aid plan >would that be? These people don't even have shoes," the
spokesman said. >Ahmed and the others said they had seen fights with fists
and knives among >desperate locals trying to get water from the truckers.
>The reports could not be independently confirmed because a
promised >military escort for reporters into town never took place.
>Officers said the trip was canceled because of widespread
clashes between >remnants of Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein's supporters and
British troops, >although no firing could be heard and the Iraqi-Americans
who spent the >afternoon in town said no clashes had taken place. But the
general situation >was far from secure. A heavy mortar or artillery round
launched toward the port shook buildings and rattled
windows but >exploded beyond the fence and caused no casualties.
>Editor's Note: The military has confiscated the satellite
phones of a certain make used by journalists
traveling with U.S. troops in Iraq, including those
used by reporter Richard Sisk and photographer Todd
Maisel of the Daily News, for fear that Iraqi forces
could intercept the signal and target U.S.
positions. This dispatch has been sent by other means
approved by the military, but military officials did
not review or restrict its contents.

Newsmax is now covering it:
http://newsmax.com/archives/ic/2004/3/11/131947.shtml Saddam Spy Suspect Worked for House and Senate Democrats
Talk about a triathlon: The Maryland woman charged today with spying for Saddam Hussein's dictatorship has also worked for congressional Democrats and the media establishment.
Susan Lindauer, scheduled to appear in court later today in Baltimore, launched her career as a political publicist. She worked for Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., when he was a U.S. congressman, and in 1996 shifted to one-term former Sen. Carol Moseley Braun of Illinois, best known lately for her doomed-from-the-start presidential campaign.
She also was employed by Fortune, U.S. News & World Report and the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, the Associated Press reported.
Wyden's handler Chris Fitzgerald said the office had heard of Lindauer's arrest and expected to issue a statement later today.
"She worked for us a short period of time," he said.
Braun's mouthpiece Loretta Kane insisted that the former senator did not remember Lindauer.
