Kerry should stick to topics with which he's familiar.
The Bible and Mississippi are not two of those.
Perfectly stated dck2. Ditto.

"Yes. Homosexuality is a sin. So is judging. So is hatred."
You're right. I love my dog. Should the state allow my marriage to him? If people contest this, does that make them dog o philes? Should the ASPCA get involved?
To: Theodore R.
Can you cite one verse for me in the Bible that says the practice of homosexuality is acceptable before God?

What did the master say? He that is without sin, let him cast the first stone . . .So I guess you would give the green light to everything?? Are we supposed to allow anything goes? Are we not supposed to teach God's word and ask people to account for their actions when they disobey God's laws? What good is following God's laws and the Ten Commandements if their is no accountability by man himself?

Amen brother. Can't we all . . . can't we all?
"Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, saith the Lord GOD. Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin.
Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Israel?" (Eze 18:30,31)

God judges. HE does.
God hates. HE hates sin.
God does not sin. HE is faithful and true.
These attributes of God (judge, hater of sin, sinless) are definitional. I can't imagine you are unaware of this.
HE faced all tempations and did not sin. HE is qualified to be the sacrifice without blemish for our sins. HE desires us as sons for all eternity. HE has done this. HE simply wants you to accept HIS priceless gift.
("It" wants you to spend all eternity with "it" in the lake of fire, separated from God. God is giving you the opportunity to decide who you will trust.)
To: Theodore R.
Homosexuality is defined as sin in the scriptures. Leviticus defined it thusly. The answer to this is Jesus' handling of the adulterous woman "where are your accusers.. go and SIN NO MORE". Jesus didn't say adultery was no longer a sin, He fulfilled the law - putting authority over sin in God's hands, not man's. So while men may not kill someone for being in sin, it is still sin. Kerry would just rather say the easy thing that makes him popular with sinners than do the right thing and risk not being popular - Kindof like Democrat responses to everything - do what's expedient, not what's right.

"Well, I know the deep beliefs, I respect, I'm a Christian, I've read the Bible, and I know you can find the clauses that go both ways," he said. "I'm not here to argue that with you."When Kerry said this, the first thing I thought was, there are so many in this nation who won't know that he's wrong on this because they haven't read the bible either. Very sad.
And by the way, Mr. Kerry, they are called verses, not 'clauses'.

"Let's void all divorces."I do think we should do away with so-called 'no fault' divorce laws.
"Or, we could stone the adulterers just like in days gone by."
If you were under Islam or under the old Israelite theocracy, you would do that. Under Christianity, you don't throw stones, but you do speak truth.

"But hatred of the homosexual, the sinning soul, is not."
I've read this whole thread and haven't seen where someone said they hated any person. Unless I've missed something someone said, I have no idea where you are getting this 'hate' thing.

"What did the master say? He that is without sin, let him cast the first stone . ."He followed this by telling the woman to go and sin no more.
While He stopped the mob from killing her, no where in His behavior did He imply that we should not speak truth about what is sin and what is righteousness.

Like most Democrats, Kerry can't deal with absolutes - unless they relate to gun abolition.

Clearly I can't fault that since my original comment said that homosexuality was a sin . . .

You know, you're right . . . it's a wonder that anyone would have any problem with what I wrote then, isn't it? After all, if the shoe doesn't fit . . . I guess we're all loving our gay neighbors. Never mind.

God judges. HE does.Perhaps according to your set of beliefs. Not everyone agrees with you.
God hates. HE hates sin.
Again, not everyone ascribes a gender to The Ineffable.
L God does not sin. HE is faithful and true.
Same thing.
These attributes of God (judge, hater of sin, sinless) are definitional. I can't imagine you are unaware of this.
I'm quite aware of what some Christians opine are the attributes of god. Not everyone agrees with them, or finds you what you have described to be valid.
HE faced all tempations and did not sin. HE is qualified to be the sacrifice without blemish for our sins. HE desires us as sons for all eternity. HE has done this. HE simply wants you to accept HIS priceless gift.
No, the bible attributes these things to its central figure, and this is held to be true only by those who subscribe to your reading of it.
("It" wants you to spend all eternity with "it" in the lake of fire, separated from God. God is giving you the opportunity to decide who you will trust.)
To worship god out of a fear of hell is to be a slave to hell.
I'm not one of those.
