In a show of support of deployed Guardsmen and reservists and their employers, Tyson Foods has announced plans to put the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve logo on all products the company ships to military facilities worldwide.
Along with the ESGR logo, the product labels will include the phrase, "Proud Recipient of the Freedom Award." Tyson Foods received the prestigious ESGR award in 2003 for its exceptional support to its Guard and Reserve employees.
Tyson Foods is the world's largest processor and marketer of chicken, beef and pork, and the second-largest food company in the Fortune 500.
The company plans to affix the new military labels to 17 products it ships to military dining facilities and food courts within exchanges worldwide.
"We are proud to include the ESGR logo on our military packaging," said John Tyson, chairman and chief executive officer of Tyson Foods. "This is another effort in honoring our team members and their families who are serving in the military. We appreciate their sacrifice ensuring the peace and security of our country."
ESGR Executive Director Bob Hollingswood said the new labels demonstrate Tyson Foods' commitment to the Guard and Reserve and make the company a role model for other industries.
"They are an example to other employers of patriotic support that goes 'above and beyond' what is required by law," he said.
