Among those who apparently didn't listen to the 43-year-old unemployed woman whose recorded message was posted online last week by The Republic were Arizona's Jon Kyl and John McCain, along with 24 of their Senate colleagues, all of them collecting fat government paychecks.

"alot of the IT people, especially the younger ones, have moved back in with their parents."

Happened to me. Was without a job after 5 years with TI for a 1 1/2 years. Finally got one, and it's getting offshored later this year already.

This Jorge character is living in some fantasy world.

"Stats show that average wages are UP, not down."

Are those the same sort of stats that show that the average high tech job in WA state has a $97k average compensation? And that those involved in "software" make over $212k a year on average?

You might want to send your post to the DNC to help support their class-warfare mantra that only the rich are benefiting under Bush.

sales and marketing. good place to be, even in large tech companies. no way they are going to send Ajit from Bangalore to make a sales call to their US customer base. they are viewed as a revenue generating part of the company, not as a cost center.

There is NO EXCUSE for that.

It's hard to say which way to go. I liked the more technical aspects, so that's the way I went.

alot of people starve here in the US

How is this possible when we have an "obesity" "epidemic" at the same time? I have yet to hear anyone answer that question. This is why I really want John Edwards' campaign to go nowhere. He keeps saying the lie about 35 million kids starving in poverty. It just doesn't jive with other data. Also, I have further comments on the problem with white liberals like him, but I'll save those for later.

Let me explain. I was with TI for 5 years. Then it took 1 1/2 years to get something else. Lots of that time I was in bankruptcy proceedings and in mental hospitals for depression and eventual epileptic seizures. Finally got something last October, but by the end of this year it was announced Exxonmobil's outsourcing their primary IT center to French Canada.

That's the reality of a *LOT* of people out there now. Millions and millions. And almost everyone in any field is at risk of this, the bell really tolls for you.

within the sector we are discussing, its valid.

it's not a valid general assumption across the whole economy, I know some people who got plugged into the mortgage refi business who are making a killing (while it lasts).

Thanks a lot jerk.

You try going broke and bankrupt and having people tell you companies don't mind if you're in a homeless shelter or have no address cause you're on the streets. I thankfully had enough family to support me through my bad times.

Resorting to names doesn't help out your position. The "average" software job in WA state pays $212k, which is just plain laughable.

This whole thing makes my respect for Grover Cleveland grow and grow. His motto was "Tell the Truth." He came up for re-election ... and lost. But HE was no loser, and came back four years later to win.

Cleveland was one of the last truly Constitution-adhering Presidents we have had. Nothing like the "let the Supreme Court decide" for him. If a bill laid in front of him was un-Constitutional: he did NOT play politics by passing the buck, demurring to popular fads, or sending forth teams of spin controllers. He would refuse to sign it and say clearly and simply whyfor.

Cleveland would have never contenanced spin-doctoring economic figures, nor would he have let the King-Fools of fiat money throw every economic baby we have out with some "free-traders" bathwater.

Cleveland would never even had considered a second that there are "jobs Americans will not do". He KNEW the Truth -- Americans will do what it takes whenever they have to!

A fierce commitment to Truth. Where has George W. Bush's gone? He had it ... he had to have had it to succeed against the bottle, to go as far as he got ... Where has it gone?

Sadly, that's the prevailing Rovian attitude. You'll find that the CINO's (Christians in Name Only) are pretty much the RINO's also. Glad to hear your doing better and good luck to you.

If telling someone off when they explain their hard times and belittling you for it is 'conservative' I may want to have no part of this whole damn movement anymore.

"Where has it gone?"

The 200 million dollar question. What happened to the man who had principles on 9-12, and now has none.

"but they are never unemployed you see"

I've been self-employed for over 30 years. For most of that time, ran a crew between four and ten guys. In the previous recessions I always had plenty of work although my crew was smaller and it was pretty much job to job. This winter is the first time ever that there were times I had no work. Over the last three years, I have no crew, just my son and I. I love it when people imply that because you have enough "hair" to have your own business you must be rich.

Granted, I can not be laid off but it can get so competitive with downward pricing caused by illegal immigration and scarcity of work. Then throw in the laid off factory workers doing small projects to boot. I'm fortunate, I have virtually no debt except, of course, current business accounts and taxes.

That's not being a conservative. That's being an ass. We nicknamed them bbots a long time ago because they show that portion of their anatomy with frightening regularity.

I have a comment for you, bozo. Sally fist and her brass knuckle cousins. When YOU kick a man for being down I will knock you cold from behind, dog. No warning, no slacking the blow.

Watch YOUR back.
