Sad news. He was great as the police captain in Terminator.

He was absolutely magnificent in that Star Trek episode. I also remember seeing him in
Long Day's Journey Into Night He was by far the BEST drunken white Irishman, I've ever seen-- and he did it as himself -- no masks.
Talent like that is a rare thing indeed.

He was a fine actor and will be missed. I don't know if he was ever on the Simpson, though. Isn't that Don King in your picture??????

It's the Simpson character 'Lucious Sweet' whose voice is played by Winfield.

I loved his conversations with Lance Henrisken's character in that movie.
Henriksen tells him about the murders, and Winfield says, "You know these work." *Shows him his glasses*
Actually, in the DVD version there was a cut scene where Reese and Sarah escape the Terminator in the police station, and Winfield's character tells Reese to protect her. I kinda liked that he knew the truth about the future before he died, but that scene was cut from the final film.
For other sci-fi appearances, he was also in an episode of Babylon 5, as Dr. Franklin's father.

I *loved* him in Darmok (and Wrath of Khan).
Godspeed, Mr. Winfield.

MSNBC just repored that the "painter" in the Murphy Brown show was found dead this morning.
I know he is not in the same league but was an actor too.
Drug para. found near his dead body.

Oh, man. He was cool. Looking at him in Terminator, though, I'm surprised he lasted this long.

Well, considering how the psychiatrist guy looked in T3, I think he'll be following Paul soon too sadly.
T1 really has been a LOONNGGGG time ago now.
